Could I be allergic to my boyfriend - recurrent thrush??

Hi, I have been getting thrush ever since I met my current boyfriend. He is the first person I have slept with so I don't know if it is a problem with me or just that our PH's are affecting each other. I made sure I clean after sex and even use an acti gel which helps make the vagina more acidic after sex. We also always use the pull-out method as we thought it would help. I have been tested for diabetes and had countless blood tests, I have also tried a non-sugar diet, changing to different underwear, taking probiotics daily and not using any soap down there. I have also done two 6 month courses of fluconazole (it goes away while I take it and then comes back once I finish the course). So I feel like I have tried everything and I am worried that me and my boyfriend are physically just not a good match. I have been with him for four years and we have just bought our own place together and other than this issue the relationship is great. I have even tried coming off the combined pill to see if this could solve the issue but the thrush always comes back. I am really really desperate to find a solution.

Hi OP. Not read the whole thread yet as I don't have time during my morning rush, but wanted to say I've had this too before. It wasn't the actual sex itself, but the oral that was causing it. I didn't delve into whether or not my partner at the time was eating a very sugary / starchy diet or not. But I just knew that every time he went down on me I would get thrush the next day. I always made sure to have a really good rinse after sex, but often that didn't help and I'd end up with thrush. Confused

@kittykat818 also if you go to the website Just for Tummies they do a probiotic specifically for thrush. They were excellent too.

Has he been treated to? I think thrush can be a lot more subtle for men, he might not even know he has it but could be reinfecting you!

If it helps op, for the first year or two after having sex for the first time, I suffered with recurrent thrush badly. It was hell and no explanation for it. Treatment after treatment. It was odd but it just suddenly stopped just like that... fast forward many years I don't suffer at all apart from a random time 2 years ago which I put down to using a bubble bath I shouldn't have! I don't know what caused me to suffer so badly.maybe it was the pill as I haven't been on the pill much since (had the implant and Mirena since). How long have you been on the pill?

@Christmas3143 Hi, he has been treated a few times as he usually shows symptoms when I pass it on to him. It is reassuring to know that yours eventually cleared, did you also change partners during this time? I was on the combined pill but stopped taking it in case it was a trigger but it didn't seem to help.
