I believe I had a cranial CSF leak in April awful GP didn't treat and now all kinds of Neuro problems

Including bulbar

FixTheBone · 01/12/2021 11:36

The scan description is probably pretty typical for anybody aged 40+

the important thing with mri spine is to be able to tie the scan findings with the clinical symptoms, for that you need a face-to-face with a neurologist or neurosurgeon.

marthasGinyard · 02/12/2021 02:34

Thank you for replying I don't even have a bad back never have.

It was done to rule out MS

Mrbob · 02/12/2021 03:16

This is a normal MRI. Disc disease etc correlates poorly to back pain. Hence why it is often a pointless test for back pain except in specific circumstances.
You might need further tests but that scan doesn’t tell you anything bad

SD1978 · 02/12/2021 03:24

Pretty normal sounding- shows some degenerative changes in the neck and lower spine, which to be honest with you, most people aged 40 + have. From this alone, I would t assume anything.

EnrouteNOTonroute · 02/12/2021 03:25

This mri basically rules out MS - no demyelineating lesions
You have some degenerative disc disease, as do most people after a certain age

Bluesheep8 · 02/12/2021 19:40

Why do you think you've got MND?

Bluesheep8 · 02/12/2021 19:43

As a PP said, it looks like a normal MRI of the spine in someone 40+.
A specialist once told me that half of people over 40 will have disc degeneration and even slipped discs without even knowing about it ie no pain.

Northernlurker · 02/12/2021 19:46

What question are you asking op?

marthasGinyard · 02/12/2021 20:47

I'm worried about all the spinal cord narrowing and moulding and the fact there seems so much degeneration of spine when I don't even have a bad back.

I am being investigated for MND it was to rule out MS but I'm worried some of these signs reflect Mnd

Blue sheep

Fasiculations for 4 months every single day. Not always felt but see the ripples swallowing and breathing issues cramping etc. Slight lisp. Jaw jerk in night have bitten longer, chipped tooth. Involuntary swallow in night.

Horrible symptoms since July

Bluesheep8 · 05/12/2021 08:48

The symptoms you're experiencing could be a wide range of things, including anxiety. Have you had an MRI of the brain?

candle18 · 06/12/2021 00:31

I don’t think I would worry about mnd but there are bulging discs in the neck and upper back which are causing the narrowing (stenosis). If you google thoracic spinal stenosis it may explain some of your symptoms.

marthasGinyard · 06/12/2021 04:57

Is there tandem stenosis shown on the report?

I'm so grateful to you all for your knowledge

OP posts:
marthasGinyard · 06/12/2021 04:58

Sadly it's not down to anxiety I have had a head mri which was clear.

OP posts:
marthasGinyard · 06/12/2021 05:00

Could a cranial csf leak cause any of these findings I'm worried that tau proteins will be found on my lumbar puncture.

I'm living an absolute nitemare

OP posts:
thaegumathteth · 06/12/2021 08:36

How do you know it's not down to anxiety?

Fwiw I had a CT recently for kidney issues and was told I have significant degenerative disks . I'm just 40, no bad back.

thaegumathteth · 06/12/2021 08:37

Also have you ever had your folate / b12 levels checked? All your symptoms could be contributed to a deficiency.

threebillboards · 06/12/2021 09:16

It's not uncommon at all to have disc protrusions and narrowness with age and yet have no symptoms.

CorrBlimeyGG · 06/12/2021 09:35

Anxiety does not show up on an MRI.

I remember your old threads. You do have a long history of anxiety. Are you getting any help for that? You can do that alongside any tests to eliminate other causes.

Rosamond35 · 06/12/2021 13:01

Has someone told you it's possible MND? Have you had an EMG?

marthasGinyard · 06/12/2021 13:02

I'm aware that anxiety doesn't show on an MRI

I haven't been a long time sufferer of anxiety I'm just having wurst year of my life.

Sorry posted too soon

Just said cannot be ruled out had EMG only 2 weeks into fasiculations it's been 5 months now.

Neuro has ordered another EMG. I believe they can be done too early In some cases particularly looking at bulbar areas.

Thank you
