Anyone had the flu vaccine shot on its own this season?

I'm often fairly sensitive to something in the flu shots, so it's helpful to know in advance what effects people have had (I usually use this to decide whether to take it or not, but am going to have it regardless this year, just need to prepare)

Has anyone here had it alone? (Not alongside the covid Booster.) I'll be having mine with the covid Booster but would be helpful to know which effects could be attributed to just the fly vaccine.

Thanks.

Very slight sore arm. Pretty uneventful.

Igmum · 04/11/2021 17:38

Yes. No side effects whatsoever

emmathedilemma · 04/11/2021 17:42

Had fine a few weeks ago and no side effects other than a slightly sore arm and even that wasn't too bad.

Fifthtimelucky · 04/11/2021 17:46

I had mine this morning so probably too early to say, but so far no side effects and I didn't have any last year either (other than a sore arm).

My husband had his about three weeks ago and has no side effects.

My GP surgery has run out of vaccine and doesn't know when it will get any more, so I booked it at Boots. There's a central NHS booking website like the one for Covid jabs, so you don't need to wait to be called. Not everyone gets it free of course.

FuzzyPuffling · 04/11/2021 17:47

I had mine in September. I had a sore arm for 24 hrs ( started almost immediately after the jab) but no systemic effects. I normally have half a day of feeling rough; I have autoimmune disease that seems to make me hypersensitive to vaccinations. But not this time- hurrah!

Spodge · 04/11/2021 17:51

I had the flu jab in September. No side effects bar a slight tenderness in the arm, which I only felt if I touched it quite firmly.

A friend, on the other hand, had it on its own and her arm got very red and painful for a couple of days. No other symptoms.

purplecorkheart · 04/11/2021 17:54

Had mine on its own and no side affects at all, not even the slight sore arm I usually get.

TreaslakeandBack · 04/11/2021 17:54

Covid booster beginning of October, flu jab three weeks later. No side effects with either. Neither did DH.

Londonnight · 04/11/2021 17:55

Had my flu vaccine in September, no side effects at all. Usually I get a sore arm for a day or so. This time nothing.

IAAP · 04/11/2021 17:56

Yes very sore arm for 4 days

oneglassandpuzzled · 04/11/2021 17:56

Nothing at all. I’m 57.

ancientgran · 04/11/2021 17:58

We had it late September. I had no side effects. DH mid 70s and disabled had no side effects. We had our covid boosters in October, DH had no side effects, I woke up with a headache the next day but don't know if that was linked or just a coincidence.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 04/11/2021 17:58

Had mine last week, absolutely no side effects.

Snozzlemaid · 04/11/2021 18:35

No side affects here either from the flu vaccine.

Cheermonger · 04/11/2021 18:36

I did get a sore arm but that’s all

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/11/2021 23:01

I had it in September - 40s, no health issues, but teach in HE so contact with lots of people. I felt slightly off the next day, like I was getting the cold, but absolutely fine to work and go about my normal day.

DogCatRabbit · 04/11/2021 23:09

I felt completely fine this year.
After last year's flu jab I felt quite poorly, head aches, bodyaches etc, same with my first jab Covid too (not my second).
Good luck!

Athinginitself · 05/11/2021 01:32

Felt really rough for a couple of days 24 hrs after flu vaccine, very tired achey and virally. Spent a couple of days in bed and then was fine. Had covid booster this week really fatigued for 24hrs and just slept and slept but only lasted 1 day.

ilovesooty · 05/11/2021 01:42

@CopperLily

I had my flu vaccination in September. I didn't have a single side effect.
Same here.
Franklin12 · 05/11/2021 08:47

Nothing and neither did DH.

beautifullymad · 05/11/2021 08:56

Yes. My local Superdrug are doing walk in clinics. You literally just walk up and ask. It's free for all over 50 and other health conditions.

They find your NHS records on the system and then give it. I was in for about 2 mins.

JustDanceAddict · 05/11/2021 16:58

I had it alone - first time - and was fine as was my dh. Not had booster yet (due in 4 weeks).

mooloop · 05/11/2021 17:02

Me, no side effects at all except a slightly achey arm the day I had it Smile

dizzydizzydizzy · 05/11/2021 19:05

No symptoms here

Ghostlyglow · 05/11/2021 19:54

I felt a bit rough and had a headache. It's the worst I've felt after a flu jab, but still wasn't too bad (nowhere near as bad as after the Covid19 jab).
