Oh alirobins

Is he pulling in under the ribcage? The doctors have always said to me that you increase the Ventolin to 10 puffs if necessary.

I know it won't help right now, but just wanted to let you know that my ds is now on Seretide and it has helped a lot, have you tried that one yet?

3littlefrogs · 08/12/2007 21:16

Get advice now. If the ventolin is not working you need to get him seen by a doctor asap.

3littlefrogs · 08/12/2007 21:17

How old is he? Is he on a preventer as well as the ventolin?

any news? dd is struggling a little today soon, but seretide and ventolin are keeping her stable. we are seeing the consultant tomorrow for her 6 weekly check up. do you have regular asthma care? we have moved to a different hospital and she hasn't been admitted for 6 months..

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/12/2007 10:49

allie how do you get reg asthma care?? Dd1 has bene in and out of hospital and then in oct they finally said it is asthma but as yet she hasnt actually seen anyone about it apart from in the hospital and she is 2 next week.

Katymac · 09/12/2007 10:51

Is there an asthma nurse at your surgery

I just make 2 or 4 weekly appointments to see her (whether nurse wants to see us or not)

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/12/2007 10:59

no I think the practice nurse does the asthma checks..well she has always done mine but thats about once a year.

alirobins · 09/12/2007 11:05

We ended up staying the night in a and e
He had steriods and nebulisers and a little bit of oxygen to pick him up.

He's home with a five day course of steriods and antibiotics with open access for 48 hours.

We go to hospital every 6 weeks only went on wednesday and his chest was clear

He's on seritide, ventolin, atrovent and singular.

Apparently ds has got brittle asthma meaning he can be fine one minute but then really poorly the next min

oh alirobins

Did the Azythromycin not help, have they stopped giving that?

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/12/2007 11:40

aww ali what a nightmare..hope he feels better soon.

alirobins · 09/12/2007 11:46

The consultant stopped the azithromycin at the end of september he wants to see if he can manage without it

Ds looks so poorly he's having a rough couple of months

OP posts:
emkana · 09/12/2007 11:48

Could you phone and ask for ds to be put back on it?

alirobins · 09/12/2007 11:48

emkana- Hows your LO doing?

OP posts:
emkana · 09/12/2007 11:50

He's very well atm, hasn't been bad for 5 months now, to the extent where I wonder if he's on too much medication. Touch wood that we get through the winter without any problems!!!!!

alirobins · 09/12/2007 11:50

I could try but my usual consultant is on leave.
We've got plenty in the medicine cupboard i might see what my gp thinks.

He was such a different little boy on it so happy and well.

OP posts:
alirobins · 09/12/2007 11:51

Thats really good news

I was thinking that about ds at the beginning of the year.

OP posts:
emkana · 09/12/2007 11:52

If it helped then I would really push for him to be on it for the winter months.

AllieBeHomeForChristmas · 09/12/2007 12:01

oh ali dd has brittle asthma also, they just go down hill so quickly. we have recentlt stopped the singulair as it gave her awful night terrors, and she seems to be coping fine (up until today) I have doubled her dose of seretide today. i hope he's feeling a little better, and you try and get a little rest if you can x

Katymac · 09/12/2007 12:03

What's azithromycin? It sounds like a/b's?

Would it help my DH?

Sorry to hijack & be nosey - but I am getting desparate

alirobins · 09/12/2007 12:06

Its a permanent antibiotic ds used to have one dose on a monday wednesday and friday.

It really did help

Interesting - I think that answers my thread here doesn't it?

Thanks
