Itchy bum

ponyclub1234 · 06/10/2021 05:58

So a little bit of an embarrassing problem to have...for the last 15 months now I've had an insanely itchy bum hole Blush

So much so it's keeping me awake at night & it's driving me crazy now. When it's particularly bad I also get small amounts of blood when I wipe after a bowel movement. I've tried steroid cream prescribed by the doctor and germaloid incase it was piles & although it eases the itching a bit it just won't go away!!! The doctor has examined me down there & couldn't see any evidence of piles so even she was stumped & said she would call
me back after speaking to the gp but she didn't call back that was 2 wks ago!!

Has anyone had anything similar that can advise what it could be or what I can do to treat it???!

Worms

softplay999 · 06/10/2021 06:04

100% worms. Get deworming stuff from pharmacy.

gamerchick · 06/10/2021 06:05

Yeah I would treat for worms anyway.

Dizzywizz · 06/10/2021 06:05

I thought worms too, but surely the dr would have checked for that?

gamerchick · 06/10/2021 06:09

How could they check? They live a bit higher up than a finger can reach.
purplesequins · 06/10/2021 06:11

yes, worms are my first thought too.

Bagelsandbrie · 06/10/2021 06:13

Get Ovex and see if it stops. If it does it’s worms.

daisyducky · 06/10/2021 07:49

Yep try ovex. My DH went to the dr about an itchy bum years ago and was prescribed all kinds of treatment. He said it was slowly going insane with all the itching. Then after about a year someone new suggested it could be worms and got treated for that and it went overnight. This is before I knew him but now we have kids and any kind of conversation about worms brings him into a cold sweat. I'm pretty shocked it wasn't the first thing they tried.

Good luck and hope it clears up

I had this exactly as you describe and someone on here mentioned simple cleaning so clean inside a bit with a moist wipe every time . I also applied sudacreme when it was bad which helps a lot. Now all gone as long as I clean religiously.

HuckleberryJam · 06/10/2021 07:57

If you've got kids they may have brought worms back from school, nursery, toddler group.

ImSoMagical · 06/10/2021 09:13

I'm the same and it's not worms (been checked, had medication) itching is the worst thing because it makes it more itchy. Night is worse, I don't itch through the day.

gamerchick · 06/10/2021 12:08

Might seem bizarre but bonjela rubbed on the ring piece can help with itching. Numbs it up a bit.

Mabelface · 06/10/2021 12:22

Another one for moist wipes. Due to my anatomy there, dry paper doesn't clean properly. It's been life changing! Still get the odd itch, but sudocrem sorts it.

MarineBlue33 · 06/10/2021 12:26

Have you got a good diet with lots of fibre in it and do you drink lots of water,?
Is it bad after you have done a no. 2?
I had this and it comes back.
I was prescribed Lotriderm- ask for that- it really helps. The skin in that area is quite dry for me.
You can ask to see a specialist- I saw one. Lovely lady who said her job was to make bottoms beautiful.

ponyclub1234 · 07/10/2021 05:30

Oh gosh I thought if it was worms you'd see them in ur poo surely ?! 🤢

I'll definitely give ovex a go though thank u.

It is definitely worse after a poo but my diet is ok although I do need to drink more water & will start using wipes rather than just toilet paper. Thanks for the medication recommendations too!

Have you changed shower gel/ shampoo ( if you wash your hair in the shower it gets everywhere)/ washing powder/ fabric softner?
What about toilet paper/ panty liners? They put so many chemicals in these things now it is a nightmare.
Still, my first thought was worms.
If it turns out to be the cause you have to treat the whole household, twice, and do the whole hoovering, damp dusting and hot wash of towels etc.

polkadotpixie · 07/10/2021 06:11

Pruritus Ani?

Smallkeys · 07/10/2021 07:21

You wouldn’t think simple cleaning would work but it did for me. It was terrible that it h especially at night. If you do t have then
Moist wipes just wet the toilet paper :-)

gamerchick · 07/10/2021 08:16

Just don't put any wipes down the toilet. Even if they're marketed as 'flushable'

ponyclub1234 · 09/10/2021 07:58

Ovex took last night & no different this morning?

OP posts:
fruckkkit · 09/10/2021 08:13

I had this a while back, tried Ovex, tried everything. Finally worked out it had started when I changed my shampoo. Bought a different shampoo, stopped instantly. Might be worth working through your shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, washing powder, fabric conditioner cutting them out one at a time to see if it makes difference. Even if it's something you've used forever they could have changed the ingredients.

Bluntness100 · 09/10/2021 08:15

Do you have a poor diet op with lots of sugar and carbs?

Bearyhumcrack · 09/10/2021 08:15

Agree with cleaning. Try to wash and dry after using the loo. I used to use a cotton pad folded up and placed against it quite snugly which seemed to help.

TopCatsTopHat · 09/10/2021 08:18

You wouldn't necessarily see thread worm's in your poo, I certainly wouldn't assume you don't have them cos if you do you'll never get rid!

Hidehi4 · 09/10/2021 08:18

Do you have a lot of protein in your diet or are you having any protein products like bars or shakes. I had to stop having them because of this
