Itchy bum

So a little bit of an embarrassing problem to have...for the last 15 months now I've had an insanely itchy bum hole Blush

So much so it's keeping me awake at night & it's driving me crazy now. When it's particularly bad I also get small amounts of blood when I wipe after a bowel movement. I've tried steroid cream prescribed by the doctor and germaloid incase it was piles & although it eases the itching a bit it just won't go away!!! The doctor has examined me down there & couldn't see any evidence of piles so even she was stumped & said she would call
me back after speaking to the gp but she didn't call back that was 2 wks ago!!

Has anyone had anything similar that can advise what it could be or what I can do to treat it???!

It could be pruritus ani. That's worth looking into.

One of my daughters had a similar issue for a year! It wasn't worms, I tried changing detergent and various creams. I found that the cause was the toilet paper. Many toilet rolls have been bleached white. She doesn't itch anymore since I changed the toilet roll, she can use Regina/panda bamboo toilet rolls.

I've had this - and still get recurring bouts - much sympathy it's miserable and can destroy your sleep. I tried EVERYTHING - lots of embarrasing trips to Drs. Finally solved it with an imported cream from states - Pranicura - never found anything cheaper/ in UK as effective. Honestly it works - was super-sceptical and felt like I was buying snake oil but they offer money back guarantee. I keep wondering about trying to get licensing rights for UK! A pot lasts me months and months now.

Ovex could take up to a few days to take effect if the worm infestation is significant (which it would be after this length of time). If using ovex you really need to do the whole household.

But yeah my first thoughts were worms/piles/skin irritation. So ovex is a good shout (will need a repeat dose about day 10-14, you will know when, and possible a third). Then focus on cleaning, and looking after the skin. If it’s just that it’s dry and uncomfortable then good old Vaseline can help (Vaseline is great if you have worms too because it stops them being able to lay eggs). If piles then Anusol HC suppositories are best.

Main reasons and treatment:

  1. Worms (ovex)
  2. Fucking evil scented toilet paper (change brand)
  3. Not properly cleaned after poo and therefore skin reactive (wash - get a Muslim toilet shower)

Do try the simple wet toilet paper inside till clean I think maybe it just irritates especially if you like spicy food. The sudacreme is also good for relief . Good luck I think with worms you can see them

I'm always shocked by these threads to read how common it seems to be to have worms.

Anyway, I learned I have a sensitivity to wiping - the skin there is very sensitive and similar to the skin on our lips. Imagine the damage all that wiping would do to lips. So, I started using water and flannels to gently clean. I have a toilet shower hose thing, but essentially it's a bidet type thing. My long standing itch eased immediately and disappeared the next day. Recently I was on holiday for two weeks and away from my spray. I developed the itch within a few days.

Sounds like pinworms, just pop into local pharmacy and explain. Everyone in your household will need to take a pill even if it’s just preventative.

Sudocrem really helps itching relief, take a shower scrub up well with lots of soap and apply generous layer of sudocrem where it itches, should soothe any irritation pretty quickly!

Give it a week after the ovex op.

Definitely don't ever dry wipe! It's not very hygienic anyway (after all, would you just use toilet paper on a baby for example?) and definitely doesn't properly clean you

So I'd focus on properly cleaning after going to the toilet - either wipes, cloths you've moistened or spritz onto toilet paper

But do try properly cleaning and see if that's the issue
