HELP! What kind of Parasite is this?

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:24

Can someone who works in a lab or has knowledge of parasites please help. The parasite is circled in red and I've added a strand of hair circled in blue.

They seem to be some sort of Worm. But nothing on Google images is showing anything.

Long story short but I can't keep my asking my Dr over and over again.

Threadworm?

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:36

But aren't Threadworms a white/beigey colour? Confused

OP posts:
pigeonhole · 22/07/2021 14:38

Thread worms are white usually

ZeroFuchsGiven · 22/07/2021 14:39

I would have said that in your pic they were a beige colour.

I'm scared to ask but where are you getting them from?

pigeonhole · 22/07/2021 14:39

Are these definitely a worm ? Not something else broken down like vegetable matter ?

albertsquirrelnuts · 22/07/2021 14:41

I don't think it looks like a parasite but have samples been sent to the lab to check? My lab quite often receives food fibres that don't resemble what they were when they went in and people think it's a parasite.

CarlottaValdez · 22/07/2021 14:41

They don’t look like any sort of parasite from the picture they look like thorns or something. Are they moving?

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:42

They might look beige in the pic but they're more like a shiny brown colour.
I'm seeing them when I wipe my bottom

😅

purplesequins · 22/07/2021 14:43

are you eating a lot of bananas?

CarlottaValdez · 22/07/2021 14:43

Are they alive?

dementedpixie · 22/07/2021 14:45

Do they move?
Do you eat bananas? (They can cause weird threads)
They look like thorns or some sort of plant life

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:45

They don't move and I initially assumed it was food or even hair. But it's definitely not. They're a completely different colour and I see around 4 every time I wipe.

Hairworm?:-
Phylum Nematomorpha

Some species are parasitic on humans, but invertebrates and other vertebrates serve as hosts. The free-living adults are several centimeters to 1 m long and about 3 mm wide. They often appear like thin sticks or thick hairs and nonliving until they start to move.

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:47

I haven't eaten bananas in absolutely ages.

OP posts:
Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:47

Is that what they would look like? Thank you, I'll take another look on Google

I would go to a pharmacist and ask for his advice as to worming yourself ( and all other household members ) it always amazes me that we as a nation diligently worm our dogs cats horses etc but never seem to bother with ourselves as a routine

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:51

@albertsquirrelnuts I've had a stool sample sent off. Nothing. I've had lab stuff sent off too but Nothing. But I know it's definitely something.

OP posts:
Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:52

@pigeonhole I have! They're still there

OP posts:
Mumdiva99 · 22/07/2021 14:53

They look like hairs to me. Were they moving?

Mumdiva99 · 22/07/2021 14:54

Sorry cross post....this was on my screen a while before I replied.

PrettyBlunt · 22/07/2021 14:56

Looks like pinworms.

dementedpixie · 22/07/2021 14:56

Looks nothing like pinworms

PrettyBlunt · 22/07/2021 14:56

Also FWIW it could be hair. Every time I wash my hair as it's long some always gets caught in my arse Blush.

PrettyBlunt · 22/07/2021 14:57

@dementedpixie

Looks nothing like pinworms
