HELP! What kind of Parasite is this?

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 14:24

Can someone who works in a lab or has knowledge of parasites please help. The parasite is circled in red and I've added a strand of hair circled in blue.

They seem to be some sort of Worm. But nothing on Google images is showing anything.

Long story short but I can't keep my asking my Dr over and over again.

Get one of these:

www.nhmshop.co.uk/pocket-microscope.html

And have a proper look. Might give you some clues as to whether animal or vegetable.

dementedpixie · 22/07/2021 14:59

Pinworms are white for a start and they move

Bollindger · 22/07/2021 15:06

No they don't look like pin worms.
Also put one between cling film, does it quash flat and stay that way, as pin worms pop.

I can't see a single thing!

Parasite101 · 22/07/2021 20:40

@PrettyBlunt and @Mumdiva99 they're definitely not hairs. I know what you mean though about hairs getting caught. I would usually find a few especially when my hair was longer. I've circled what a strand of my hair looks like in blue

Lol. Definitely not!

They don't move so maybe its fibre or matter from something else. Buy a magnifying glass, the pound shops might have one, and take a closer look.

SqueakyPeaks · 23/07/2021 00:36

They look like eyelashes to me!

SqueakyPeaks · 23/07/2021 00:39

Or

Like bristles of a hairbrush.

Do you brush your hair behind your back and the bristles somehow shed and fall down the back of your dress/top whatever and get caught in your pants?

clutching at straws!! Grin

Flalamingo · 23/07/2021 00:40

Are you sure it's not little bits of loo roll after you've wiped?

Pixissmoke · 23/07/2021 00:56

I also think they could be loo roll fibres rolled up from wipe friction. Try wiping with a soft white cloth and see if they are still there.

Parasite101 · 23/07/2021 01:02

That's exactly how they look. Like eyelashes but these are a shiny brown colour. My hair is black. Jet black

No it's not loo roll. The toilet paper I use is white and these are always like a shiny brown cooour. I also use flushable wipes which don't really roll up if that makes sense.

Thanks for trying, did you mean a boar bristle brush? I've heard they're good but I just use a standard one and the bristles are white.

They look really like short pubes, I'd be microscoping them. This reminds me of an outing occasion when I thought I had worms but realised when I took the photo that they were something I'd eaten and passed whole. Freaked me out

I have bought one. Just waiting for it to arrive so I can check. But it's definitely not pubic hair. I have very dark hair and these are a much much lighter in colour

Bollindger · 23/07/2021 11:43

Did you try to squash one?
Anything living will squash.

Lushmetender · 23/07/2021 13:39

Tapeworm?

eandz13 · 23/07/2021 13:56

Do you have a furry pet that's been shedding?

SqueakyPeaks · 23/07/2021 18:03

I was coming back to say pet hair as well. I'm completely over-invested

bunnytheegghunter · 23/07/2021 21:16

They look like some kind of grass to me.
