She is teething and seems to be under the weather with it.
The rash is lots of little red dots, slighly raised, could this be connected to the teething?

Hand foot and mouth disease? My LO had it a week ago - hands constantly in the mouth, crying constantly, off food and drink, red spots like chicken pox but with no blisters on her bottom, legs and arms (although they usually present on the hands and feet) If you can look in LO's mouth you might see ulcers, fever.

yeahyeah · 20/11/2007 20:08

press on the rash does it go away? If it doesn't if it stays red when you press on it I understood you should go straight to dr.

massivebigpantsface · 20/11/2007 20:08

the rash covers her torso and shoulders. There was a tiny bit yesterday but today it is covered...

Squash rash under the side of the glass, do the spots disappear or not?

fryalot · 20/11/2007 20:09

what they said about the glass test

hayCHingleBells · 20/11/2007 20:10

My dd, had numerous rashes when she was a baby/toddler. Took her to the drs several times, he didnt really know what they were, possibly a reaction to something, maybe a reaction to a virus.

Is it bothering her (the rash)?

RubySlippers · 20/11/2007 20:11

so it has spread ...

call NHS direct or your GP out of hours service

santascRUMPELedsuit · 20/11/2007 20:11

My LO started off with just a few spots then the following 2 days it got a lot worse. If you are really worried - if LO is very sleepy and not with it, then call Dr or NHS line.

massivebigpantsface · 20/11/2007 20:11

don't think its hand foot and mouth disease - the spots are tiny. it looks like heat rash i'd say.
i will try the glass test but she is sleeping - possibly urgent enough to wake her up???
she took ages to settle - very unhapp little girl...

CrushWithEyeliner · 20/11/2007 20:12

call OOH doctor glass test positive or not - it has spread

hayCHingleBells · 20/11/2007 20:12

If it was meningitis, she would have been taken much more ill by now if rash was present yesterday.
I wouldnt wake her.

CrushWithEyeliner · 20/11/2007 20:13

yes you must do the glass test anyway - even the doc will ask you to do that over the phone

fryalot · 20/11/2007 20:13

tbh - I would do the glass test anyway - you could either warm the glass so it's less likely to wake her up, or just press the rash with your finger, but you have to look really quickly and carefully because when they fade, they fade really fast

massivebigpantsface · 20/11/2007 20:14

right - off to do the glass test. thanks guys, brb

Piffle · 20/11/2007 20:16

could also possibly be measles if the temp was high...
we thought dd once had heat rash and it was measles

hayCHingleBells · 20/11/2007 20:17

........ ..

hayCHingleBells · 20/11/2007 20:18

ime, dd1 had soo many rashes as a baby, always turned out to be nothing.

I bet its cos this lo is teething, and its a reaction to the stress.

Always worth checking with the glass tho.

massivebigpantsface · 20/11/2007 20:22

ok, she now has a temp of 100, clammy, red cheeks.
the rash got a bit lighter when pressed with the glass but you could still see the red spots

whats no for nhs direct?

If the rash is fading, it is probably not anything TOO serious, however, your own doctor will be more than happy to come out and check her out.

Ring your own doc
