Welcome friends old and new, to the most supportive thread on Mumsnet. Everyone is welcome whatever stage you're at (fears, diagnosis, treatment). Introduce yourself and say Hi

Good luck to everyone having treatment this week. Hugs to all - especially if you're feeling rubbish (physically, mentally, or waiting for results - ugh

Oh @Littlestelephant I'm so sorry - that does sound scary. Although it does sound like a lot in 24 hours, I'm sure they will have weighed up the risks and they clearly think you can manage the surgeries. Have you managed to speak to your DP? Are they managing your pain ok? xx

Littlestelephant · 26/05/2021 01:08

@AlbertCampion the staff are all brilliant so I should trust them really. The surgeon is happy to wait until 8am to operate again so it can't be that much of an emergency this time round.

Because I'm so tiny (4ft10 / 6 stone) they won't give me more than one sodding paracetamol at a time so I'm looking forward to being home and sneaking the extra second paracetamol I've been taking all my life when needed without injury.

BadEyeBri · 26/05/2021 07:14

@Littlestelephant good luck this morning. Third time's the charm eh?

@TopOfTheCliff fingers crossed for your results today

Acinonyx2 · 26/05/2021 08:52

@Littlestelephant sorry it hasn't gone quite as smoothly for you. I have found that there are sometimes unexpected twists like this along the way that really push your resilience to the limit. The repeated surgery is mainly a mental rather than a physical challenge. Hope this sorts you out.

Wellwhatalovelyday · 26/05/2021 09:05

@AlbertCampion I started taking tamoxifen last week and I’ve had very interrupted sleep - weird dreams all night long, it feels like. I don’t want to move to taking it in the morning really as I’m hoping night time is better for side effects, but that’s probably me being naive!

I’ve stuck to aveeno during and after radiotherapy, my boob looks like it’s had a lovely relaxing holiday on a sun lounger with a cocktail (which is about as removed from how the rest of me looks as it could possibly be), but apart from that, all good.

AlbertCampion · 26/05/2021 09:20

@Littlestelephant hope it has gone ok for you this morning. xx

@Wellwhatalovelyday I have just this morning swapped to taking tamoxifen in the morning - I am so desperate for some decent sleep! Fingers crossed the side effects aren't too bad.

Wellwhatalovelyday · 26/05/2021 09:28

@AlbertCampion, let me know what transpires - a few more nights like last night & I’ll be doing the same!

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2021 10:05

@SecretWitch that seems so far away, so hope they can bring it forward.

@Littlestelephant goodness, one paracetamol is never enough. Hope today is better.

@TopOfTheCliff thinking of you today.

Mum just phoned to say the hospital car park is shut so we have to park up the road somewhere. They have moved the ambulance station to where the drop off place was so drop offs are a ridiculous distance from the door as it is and half the car park has been shut for a while. Must stop panicking.

👋

MrsPnut · 26/05/2021 10:09

@HumphreysCorner That sounds like Lincoln, there is so much building work going on that the two nearest car parks are full of works vans, you have to park miles away and if you need the breast clinic then you have to trek for 20m to get to it.

Good luck today TopotheCliff x

thereisonlyoneofme · 26/05/2021 11:04

Anyone on carbo/caelyx? Im coping well with it, but have the weirdest dreams. I cant relate them to anything happening in my life or that has happened, and Ive forgotten them in the morning, though they wake me up two or three times a night !

SecretWitch · 26/05/2021 13:18

@Littlestelephant and @TopOfTheCliff, I’m thinking of you today.💐

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2021 16:20

The cancer has all gone so having an op in 4-6 weeks to remove the tumour bed and have some lymph nodes removed. Will have one smaller boob for a while until they operate on the other side to make the cup size the same. Radiotherapy 6-9 weeks after that.

Acinonyx2 · 26/05/2021 16:55

@HumphreysCorner that's good news Smile

TopOfTheCliff · 26/05/2021 17:19

Good news here too! At 4.58pm I could bear waiting no longer and rang the nurses. Biopsy showed just reactive lymph node no action needed. Thankfully!
I’m exhausted from all the Not Worrying ! Is that going to happen every time I go near them?
@HumphreysCorner I’ll share a drink with you to celebrate

Acinonyx2 · 26/05/2021 17:31

@TopOfTheCliff Grin Smile

BadEyeBri · 26/05/2021 17:37

@HumphreysCorner @TopOfTheCliff excellent news. Drinks all round Wine

JeanLannes · 26/05/2021 17:37

@Littlestelephant - hope you are back home recovering with additional paracetamol

@HumphreysCorner @TopOfTheCliff - brilliant news for both of you!

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2021 17:46

@TopOfTheCliff brilliant news. I've just poured a glass. Ching ching. X

notagainohno · 26/05/2021 18:02

@TopOfTheCliff and @HumphreysCorner great news for both of you. Congratulations

FizzyOrange · 26/05/2021 18:23

@TopOfTheCliff and @HumphreysCorner so pleased for both of you, that is lovely to hear!

sunflowerdaisies · 26/05/2021 18:58

@HumphreysCorner @TopOfTheCliff brilliant!

@Littlestelephant I hope you're doing ok.

I had a dressing change today, first one since the op on my finger and took about 45 mins, she took it slowly as dressing was stuck. From last time, the first one was bad but subsequent dressing changes much easier. Hoping worst is over and on Friday I get good news and won't need another surgery in the next couple of weeks.

TopOfTheCliff · 26/05/2021 20:46

@Littlestelephant you really have been unlucky with your operation. Well done for being so brave.

I am feeling like a train ran over me. I’m back home from looking after DM and feel I should go back at the weekend if nobody else will but I am so tired I want some time to myself. Selfishly before the next round of Herceptin and echo and the colonoscopy I would like to disappear for a few days. I might ring the local Cancer Support centre for a chat because it is ridiculous that I am feeling guilty for looking after myself. Bah! Off to a nice country pub to track down DH and his mates for a drink.
Regards to all

MrsPnut · 26/05/2021 21:07

@HumphreysCorner and @TopOfTheCliff great news both, and enjoy the celebratory drinks.

I’ve had a headache for the last few days, my scalp is sore and I am shedding enough hair to make DH a wig each morning. I think it’s time for my hair to go, and the hats to come out. I’ve been very matter of fact about it but now it’s here, I’m really quite sad.

AlbertCampion · 26/05/2021 21:10

Hooray @HumphreysCorner and @TopOfTheCliff! So pleased for you both!

@MrsPnut sorry about your hair. It does suck. I didn't think I would mind about mine but I also felt sad when the time came. Hope you have some lovely hats to console yourself with!
