DD1 is 7.
She is usually full of beans and very lively.

Just recently she has not been her usual self.
No temperature.
No sickness.
No diarrhoea.

Complains of tummy ache, particularly after eating (say an hour later).

Can be her usual self, but 80% of the time is quiet/subdued and just not right.

She has an appetite and is eating well.

Has been so nondiscript that i have continued to send her off to school, wondering if she is just trying to get a day off or increased attention.

Im expecting the school to call me today, as she was complaining again this morning, of "i dont feel well". Yesterday apparently she sat with a sick bowl in class.

She isnt usually one to sit about, and its been going on so long now that im beginning to worry. I dont think she is putting it on because shed of got bored of that by now, because i havnt really given her much extra attention, very little actually.

Id feel daft going to drs with her, and say what, she has no tangable symptoms - but she is just not right.

Could it be teeth?? She has 2 big-uns at the back comming through. Hasnt complained about them, but maybe making her feel rundown?

How about trying some Remegels instead of Gaviscon? Tastes a lot nicer. If they're ok for her age, that is - I've never looked.

Otherwise, you could try simply giving her the choice between trying Gaviscon and feeling ill. Let her feel grown up about it and take some resonsibility...sometimes works with my dd, though she's much younger (eg I explain what can happen if she chooses not to take a medicine, then let her decide - as long as its not life threatening, of course!)

FWIW, I still think it sounds as though she's got some digestive problems there - the GP didn't sound very helpful, maybe worth trying again with a different one, or asking for a referral if it goes on?

I tried every possible route to get her to take the gaviscon.
Bribed her
Told her i didnt want to hear anymore about tummy aches
etc etc.

She did end up trying it, but it was now shortly before bed so didnt really get to find out if it helped.
As soon as she swallowed it she said it felt better, but am not convinced.

This morning she had her weetabix and asked for more medicine straight after (gaviscon) she took it alot more willingly and hasnt complained of any pain, whereas she normally would.

So i think (fingers crossed) we might have found a cure.

Anyone know what foods i should be avoiding?
Will she need gaviscon after every meal for ever?
