Weird stomach bug?

DD woke up at 3am on Sunday and vomited everywhere , then at 7.30 am when she was trying to convince me she was fine to go to school she was sick again so I kept her off. She was sick again at 11 am. She was fine then for the rest of the day, had her lunch and dinner so I sent her to school as normal yesterday and she was fine all day. Then we woke up to her shouting us at 3am asking for the sick bowl and to be quick, we weren't quick enough! She looks pale this morning but has eaten breakfast. I've decided to keep her off school as she's tired more than anything else. Is this the same bug which she just had a day off from or has she got a different one do you think?

bear in mind this is the same child who when she was two had a bug that only made her vomit at 6.30pm every night for 5 nights!

I think everyione is suffering from this weird bug

YThere was athresad a few days agocalled 'Aren't vomit bugs the pis' or something and almost all the posts were about a similar weird thing where the child appeared well for a day or so and then was sick again

dd1 has had it and even though she hasn't thrown up again sinvce the first night of copious vomit she keeps panicking and thinking shes going to be sick.

Last year she had the same sort of weird bug type thing too.

hope your dd feels better soon x

Ty. I suppose ds will be next...

I hope your dd is better soon too. x

I think its probably the same bug.
Does your school not have a 'keep at home until 24 hours after last vomit' policy though? (not that it would have helped with that time frame.)

Hope she feels better soon.

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 07/11/2007 11:29

Thank you. No they don't have that policy but I tend to stick to that rule hence keeping her off on the Monday and today. I sent her in on the Tuesday because she hadn't been sick since 11 am the day before and had been fine that afternoon/night even going to a fireworks display with dp. She hasn't been sick again this morning but does look very pale.

Round me (Surrey) the 24 hour wait has been increased to 48 hours. Not sure if that's a national thing though.

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 07/11/2007 11:35

We haven't been told anything about a vomit policy by the school. I normally follow the 24 hour one because I read it on here and it sounds like sensible advice. We've only been told to inform them if anyone has chicken pox, measles or mumps because a boy in her class has cancer.

My 3 sickies are better today - in fact you'd never know how ill they had been yesterday. High temps and lots of sickness. Our school does 48 hours so they will go back tomorrow.

TheMuppetMuggle · 07/11/2007 12:24

I think DD has something like this today she is 2.5yrs - woke up this morning puked everywhere but is all phelgm type stuff.
and been sick 4 times since.
I'm shaking as just now looked like she was choking just where she was trying to bring up what she needed to.

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 07/11/2007 14:40

I had to listen to reading in school today to a girl who was carrying a sick bowl around with her. I kept the session quite short!

wayneta · 07/11/2007 16:23

What I don't get bout vomiting bugs is that the kids are a bit unwell but come bounce back real quick but we catch it and almost die. Last one ds was ill for 24hrs yet dh and I were ill for a week.

GreatAuntieWurly · 07/11/2007 16:24

ds1 has this bug, he woke up this morning having had an accident in his bed as he thought he had wind.

Pinkchampagne · 07/11/2007 16:29

My Ds has just got over this bug. I was the one who started the "Don't you just hate vomit bugs" thread!
He was violently sick Friday night just the once, then floppy all day Saturday, but no more sick until 7pm that evening, when he suddenly threw up again.
I thought it was strange that there was such a long gap between vomits too, so it sounds like a similar bug.

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 07/11/2007 17:15

I'm feeling a bit iffy now myself but it's dp's Birthday and he's bringing home an indian take away so i'll have to smile , carry on and possibly puke later. I hope everyone's children get better soon.

whizz why wasn't the girl sent home

WhizzFizzBadKitten · 07/11/2007 22:09

I don't know. Its something I noticed a lot in Infant school too. It was appalling sometimes that kids were just given bowls til they were sick and then sent home. What a way to spread it! But as I helped more, I noticed that often it was the same kids saying they felt sick but they never were. So I think its a case that some kids cry wolf and others get frequent tense tummies. Its unfortunate when that coincides with tummy bugs.

sophierosie · 07/11/2007 22:16

GAW - I think my DD has the same as your DS - really bad wind leading to diarheoa this afternoon...does vomiting come with it?

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 08/11/2007 09:52

Oh God i'm in vomit hell ds has it far worse than dd he vomited all over OUR bed at 4 am and all over the living room about 20 mins ago. He also seems to have an aversion to the sick bowl and pushes it away or runs away from it mid puke. Thank god we've just got solid wood floors downstairs because any carpet would be wrecked, i'm also on my second outfit of the morning.

Ds2 has been sick for the last three days, but only after meals. Weird. He's hungry and wants to eat, but is holding nothing down, yet this only happens shortly after eating, then nothing until after the next meal. He seems fine in between, but is now very pale as he's held anything in his stomach since Tuesday lunchtime. I've just given a cracker and some of my toast, not knowing whether I should let him eat or not, but he's really hungry!

Ledodgy · 08/11/2007 17:35

I hope he gets better soon Aero. DD seems better today and hasn't been sick but has a few small heat lump type spots on her cheeks and her arms that are itchy just noticed that ds (who is spark out on the couch) has them on his cheeks too. Weird!
