What the holy f*ck are these on my feet?

Obviously I’m going to the pharmacy tomorrow to show them photo - but I have two HOLES in my heel! Actual real life HOLES 😭. Also on both feet have 2/3 hard spots (like a verruca but not a verruca I don’t think?)

Heel has been really sore today (I’m 35 weeks pregnant so figured it was the extra weight, and I’m no pixie)

I take very good care of my feet - I scrape dry/dead skin, use heel repair cream and foot cream. Always wear decent shoes, cotton socks or sports socks.

I’ll put a pic as a comment in case nobody wants to see it - I’ve got the ick with myself right now so won’t inflict that on anyone else!

Has anyone had this before? Please please tell me I can get them treated 😭😭😭

OP exactly what I mean. Pharmacy a v good idea. There's a small chance it's a minor form of 'pitted keratolysis' which is an infection and in the weight bearing bits of your feet. It does make a bit of a smell but not straight away. I'd not put bazucca on it until you have medical advice.

flappityflippers1 · 09/03/2021 22:22

@Megan2018

It might be Pitted keratolysis, I think you can get that from extra pressure/weight in pregnancy
Ahhh that would make sense - despite baby being minuscule (being born bang on 37 weeks estimated 5lber) I’m absolutely massive this time 😓

It’s verrucas. And I’d bet my life they’ve come out.

It’s because you’re pregnant. The reason the body doesn’t get rid of verrucas itself is because it doesn’t recognise they are there. That’s the point of filing them (partially anyway) because it irritates them and the body does something about it. The other thing is that it can be pregnancy, changes in the body, that finally mean the verruca is recognised and you get rid of it on your own.

I had exactly the same thing with a verruca I’d had for 3 bloody years. Tried absolutely everything and it wouldn’t go. Then halfway through my pregnancy it fell out overnight leaving a bloody scary crater. I saw the chiropodist and she told me the above. The crater disappeared really quickly!

@bookwormish thank you, no I won’t put anything on it until it’s been looked at - my feet don’t smell or anything, but it must have only come up the last few days as I care for my feet a few times a week after a bath. Will definitely be seeking medical advice in the morning!

@Mykittensmittens ahh - these are brand new on my feet, I only did my foot care routine at the weekend, and didn’t spot anything then.

Thanks everyone for the replies and reassurance, I’m still grossed out, but not panicking now!

Is it itchy with dry skin? It looks like pompholyx eczema. I get it without fail at the start of every Spring on my palms and feet and then it's gone by Summer. Never worked out the cause.

WilsonMilson · 09/03/2021 22:29

I’d take a guess at verrucas as they can look like that and sometimes they are painful. Would need a clearer pic to be sure.

Also could be pitted keratolysis. Although it’s usually more widespread. Sorry op, but do your feet smell? Usually there would be a distinct smell associated with this and an general sweatiness of the feet.

What it is NOT is anything burrowing, so don’t freak out about that!

MuddyWalks · 09/03/2021 22:30

Verrucas. Don't stress.

muppette · 09/03/2021 22:32

Neat tea tree oil. Just put it on a cotton wool pad and dab on to each one. Morning and night.

If you do it for 1-2 weeks they will disappear.

Megan2018 · 09/03/2021 22:32

Do report back @flappityflippers1 with the diagnosis!

I got Pitted keratolysis after a long stint on crutches (on the weight bearing foot).

cutebutscary · 09/03/2021 22:33

The pics aren't great but my husband is a podiatrist and says they are verruccas

gavisconismyfriend · 09/03/2021 22:37

I’d see podiatrist rather than pharmacy or GP. They are specialist and best placed to advise and reassure you.

eurochick · 09/03/2021 22:41

I also think verrucas. They are little bastards.

Pregnancy shifted mine after about a decade of trying everything.

Eviethyme · 09/03/2021 22:48

I had those when I was a teen, never hurt but was quite deep always used to freak me out, just disappeared at some point

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 09/03/2021 23:00

I'm an NHS podiatrist, I wouldn't really be able to tell without getting up close and getting a light and a scalpel on them to be honest but it really doesn't look like anything serious - you definitely don't have an infection or worms!!!! because the skin around them looks just fine.
Possibly verrucae, get to a podiatrist and get them debrided. Lots of very simple foot problems leave holes like that. Its better to see a podiatrist than a doctor because they can sort the problem in 10 minutes.

greatauntfanny · 09/03/2021 23:03

Laughing at the first response being ‘something has burrowed in’.

98% sure you’ve had/got a few verrucas, OP. 1.999% other condition. 0.001% foot worm family.

jaundicedoutlook · 09/03/2021 23:13

God, how I hate feet.

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2021 23:16

I'm having "am I a minger?" flashbacks Grin

PhoenixIsFlying · 09/03/2021 23:24

Look like verucca's. My daughter had them and none of the freezing stuff worked. The thing that finally got rid of them was soaking cotton wool.in apple cider vinegar and taping them to her verucca's each night.

Sweettea1 · 09/03/2021 23:51

100% certain they are verrucas i suffered years ago with them.

Fontella · 10/03/2021 02:48

I had a little hole like this on the side of the pad under my little toe for ages. It never occurred to me it was a verruca. My son had one once and it was a big warty looking thing, not a little hole like mine.

Sprained my ankle badly and while I was showing the doc he said "what are you doing to treat that verruca on the side of your foot?"

flappityflippers1 · 10/03/2021 07:00

I shall report back later with what the pharmacy think - will also look up local podiatrists, great suggestion!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 10/03/2021 07:11

You laugh but I've had patients coming in thinking they have parasites because they have holes in their feet haha.
Its a real fear. I'm sure there is a phobia about holes, cant remember the name though!

FedNlanders · 10/03/2021 07:14

I paid for a podiatrist. Best thing I did. They are veruccas.
