Hi all,
For 4 months now ive had fuzzy sensations/ tingling from the top of my head, down my spine, in my arms and legs. Ive also had numb patches on my face, left ear, both sides of neck. The skin on my arms and thighs can also feel sore to touch. I have brain fog and my head fills full, my right eye can become blurry, my tinnitus if off the scale and i also feel sick quite often, and slight dizzines at times.
Ive had every bloodtest going, ear test, addisons test, mri on brain but no answers.
Im waiting for nuerology appt.

My symptoms tend to get worse if im over tired or had a stressful/ anxious day.
Im 42 and all hormones seem ok.

Would really like to hear from anyone else who has suffered with similar.

Pretty fed up 4 months later and still feeling unwell and no answers.

When you say hormones seem ok what tests have they done?

Maybe worth looking at a Dutch test.

Sounds so frustrating and like it could be a lack of something? I'm no GP but I'd be looking all over hormones at 42 years old.

itwillbehormones · 17/02/2021 21:46

Forgot to say maybe also read up on fibromyalgia, you have some symptoms. Unless they have ruled that out already.

That's linked to your central nervous system, which may explain everything going a bit haywire, especially the skin pain and soreness.

nannytwins · 17/02/2021 21:54

I have pretty much all of the symptoms you have and have been diagnosed with long haul covid after having covid in March last year.
Could you have had covid at all?

Bubbinsmakesthree · 17/02/2021 21:56

Could you have had covid at any point?

I have long covid which includes quite a random assortment of symptoms many of which are similar to yours (tingly head, brain fog, sore patches of skin, tinnitus, blurry vision in one eye, dizziness). My symptoms are exacerbated by tiredness.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 17/02/2021 21:56

Oh snap @nannytwins

Deeplydevious · 17/02/2021 22:10

Have they checked your b12? All those symptoms can be neurological signs of a deficiency and can happen when you're b12 is classed as 'normal'. Except normal in the UK is actually quite a low number. Have a Google.

Dormouse78 · 18/02/2021 08:47

Thanks for replying, Regarding Hormones Ive had so many tests im not sure what dr has checked, i know ive had addison test for adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid (my phoshate was very low). Dr did a basic hormone bloodtest too, not sure what that covered. Dr said, as my periods were still regular it would be difficult to test for perimenopause.

@Deeplydevious dr checked b12 and i was above middle range, i did bring up that b12 can go undetected.

@bubbinsmakesthree @nannytwins the dr did mention briefly long haul covid but if i have had covid i was asymptomatic.

I'm fascinated by the long Covid theory

I've had some similar symptoms for about the last 9 months OP (tinnitus, brain fog, feeling a bit weird) - I put most down to anxiety?! Alongside it I've had an exasperation of my asthma., I spoke to my GP late last year and his first thought was long Covid. So I'm now wondering if all of my things are linked?!

dontdisturbmenow · 18/02/2021 09:40

OP, I could have written your message. Just add breathlessness and total lack of energy.

I too got normal B12 results although in the low side. Still, reading so much about vit B12 deficiencies, I k we that it was possible, and indeed common to have normal results, yet significant symptoms. It even says so on the NHS webpage.

One clear indicator though was my mch results (size of blood cells) that was massive above the norm (but totally dismissed by my GP).

I de used to start u hearing myself having bought B12 from Germany. At first it didn't seem to help and actually made me feel worse, but I read this was common too, so I persisted and finally after about 3 months I started to feel better.

Since then, I I next myself anytime between 4 and 6 weeks. I don't keep count, i don't need to, the symptoms come back with a vengeance, starting by breathlessness just going up our road which I otherwise walk perfectly fine.

I do quite a lot if sporting activities and have noticed that I will need an injection earlier when I do more, especially if I go on runs.

I discussed all this with my GP, who still didn't seem convinced and just said it was normal B12 gave me a boost (but couldn't explain why the buzzing, pins and needles, tinnitus and breathlessness came back with a vengeance every 4 to 6 weeks. He offered to do an active B12 test, but for that, I would need to be off B12 for 4 months and I can't bear going back to what it was and build up all again just to be told that I gave issues with absorbing B12 and need to I next regularly.

In your case, I would ask for that test before taking any supplement. All you describe is standard symptoms of low B12. Mine too started in my mid 40s.

Lumene · 18/02/2021 09:41

Have you had vit D levels tested?

Kintsuji · 18/02/2021 09:50

Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue, b12 deficiency might all be possibilites with I expect quite a few other illness. Did they do a full thyroid panel (TSH, FT3, FT4) or just the TSH.
Dormouse78 · 18/02/2021 09:58

@lumene yes, one of the 1st things they checked as i had vit d deficiency 2yrs ago.

@kintsuji i have no idea if all of those were tested. My dr has been pretty thorough. So possibly. How can i check, can i get access to all my tests? I think theyve ruled out ms as my mri was clear. Waiting neurology appt now (30 wk wait)

I've also had exactly those symptoms OP, and was recently admitted to hospital for a few days. Every investigation was entirely normal, including a brain MRI and B12. DH is on a long covid forum and there are many people with similar symptoms. I've had covid so I'm assuming it's that. Even though you haven't been symptomatic, I guess it's entirely possible that it is long covid, once everything else has been excluded.

Dormouse78 · 18/02/2021 11:07

@campions sorry to hear youve been suffering. Are you any better? Did you have any treatment, meds etc? How long did your symptoms last? Thanks

OP posts:
Bubbinsmakesthree · 18/02/2021 11:39

My DH also has what we assume is long covid as so many of his symptoms align with mine. He only had covid very mildly (he just felt W bit rough for a few days but it was same time as me who had classic symptoms, otherwise probably wouldn’t have assumed it was covid - this was last year when no testing).

He also didn’t develop any long covid symptoms for months after the illness - it seems to have been triggered by increasing his exercise levels (whereas mine started immediately following the initial infection, though there’s been a lot of variation of symptoms).

So I do think it may be possible to have long covid even if you can’t immediately see a link with having been unwell with covid.

WeddingPanic · 18/02/2021 12:07

@Bubbinsmakesthree

That's really interesting to hear about your husband. I had covid in September, only really mild symptoms, and then months later (December) I have started with long covid, after increasing my exercise. When Gp told me long covid I was struggling to believe it could be as I only had it mild and it only started months after I tested positive

Dormouse78 · 18/02/2021 12:15

Im really not sure if it could be long covid. Non of us in our household of 4 (2 adults and 2 children)have had any symptoms.

OP posts:
Norugratsatall · 18/02/2021 12:29

I would also suggest you may have had Covid at some point and were either asymptomatic or had it so mildly you were unaware.

I had (assumed) Covid last March. Symptoms so mild it wasn't even as bad as a cold for me. Just cracked on and didn't stop. 11 months later I'm still suffering from: brain fog, tinnitus (oh the tinnitus!!) insomnia, shortness of breath, lung discomfort and fatigue. My husband had Covid over Xmas, was so poorly but recovered quickly after a coup,e of weeks with no lasting effects.

WeddingPanic · 18/02/2021 12:36

I only had mild symptoms and probably wouldn't have tested if it wasn't for work (NHS) as had no main symptoms. 4 in our family and since then have been positive for antibodies

WeddingPanic · 18/02/2021 12:43

I have similar symptoms, but I did test positive for covid in September. GP just days long covid and I have had some tests. It has made me so anxious though, I have had to start taking medication for my anxiety as a result of it

Or any virus? Post viral syndrome can arise from any viral infection, and you may not even know about it. I have seen cases of people developing quite severe post viral syndrome when the literally haven't got a clue that they ever had a virus. Asymptomatic virus infections are far from unknown. Covid has brought some new aspects perhaps, and greater awareness, but it hasn't brought much that we don't already have other examples of.

Dormouse78 · 18/02/2021 13:06

@weddingpanic do uou thunk it would be worth asking dr for an antibodies test?
Im speaking to him today about going on meds for my anxiety.

Hi OP. Have they looked into Lyme disease (from ticks)?
