Waking up in the morning feeling nauseous

Note: I don't live in the UK, and we're no longer under lockdown. Visiting is allowed :)

I've started staying over at my partner's place on the weekend (relatively new relationship), but on three separate occasions I have woken up early the next morning feeling really sick. Twice I was dizzy and shaking too.
I've either left quickly (and felt better once home), or went out for a long walk/fresh air and felt better after a bit (although lingering headache). Gone back to his place later and been fine.

What could it be? I've been googling carbon monoxide poisoning etc but not finding anything that makes you feel sick as the primary symptom.
He feels really guilty, has started burning candles in case it's a smell (there is no smell), moved his plants outside...

:( I don't know how to fix this, but it's not nice.
Please, any ideas please!

@JemimaTiggywinkle

Sorry to jump to this, but you seem to have ruled out most other options... any chance he’s drugging you?
This thought popped into my mind too

@ThomasHardyPerrenial

Was that in reply to my comment?
If so it was pretty distasteful.
My lovely friend and her DP died in their flat in the Midlands.
You can't smell carbon monoxide.
If you are lucky there will be a slow build up and you might get a hint that there is a problem, such as nausea or light headedness, before you become unconscious and die.

Do you always have a headache too? If I sleep in the wrong pillow I wake with a tension headache that also makes me feel sick as a dog. I have been sick with it once or twice.

But YY to checking carbon monoxide levels ASAP

@ThomasHardyPerrenial

Many apologies, I see you were replying to an earlier post by the PP.

Combination of reading before coffee and being triggered by the memory of our dear friends. They are still missed. Two beautiful young people who had their whole Iives ahead of them.

I would get a blood test done.

It could be a fatty liver but you might be a bit young? (I am not a doctor!)
It is possible to get a fatty liver without drinking lots though, if you eat lots of fatty food and lots of carbs and sweet things.

Also,, get your hormones checked as I felt nauseous every morning for years until I had a full hysterectomy with trimmings owing to ovarian cysts and fibroids.

Bit strange that it's just at his house though unless you eat very differently when there.

Has he decorated recently? New carpet? New sofa? Sometimes furniture is sprayed with anti-fungal chemicals ... .

Do you drive there? Is there an issue with carbon monoxide and your car?

It might not be the candles themselves, but you said he was insisting on the candles - I'm wondering if that's masking a smell which would lead you to what's making you nauseous.

2-3 the recommended amount of detergent could certianly make you feel nausesous! Bleached surfaces etc.

You say you really don't want to break up with this man. Surely a gentle conversation is worth a try. You're just trying to find the answer. Easier than implyiing he's dirty.

I think you are sensitive to the excess of cleaning products he uses. Have a read of this and show him patient.info/news-and-features/are-cleaning-products-bad-for-your-health

How long does it take you to recover after these episodes? Minutes, hours?
If fresh air helps very quickly, then its likely to be an air or external thing.
If it was a stomach thing/food/ drink it might not clear up so fast, even after you leave the flat.
You could go straight to the doctor the next time if that is possible. So they could check your blood sugars, blood pressure etc.

@ThomasHardyPerennial, yes, I know, sorry! I was trying (poorly) to state that I was not in the UK, and we had windows wide open in every room 24/7 (while I'm there). Personally I wouldn't be doing that in UK right now :)

I stayed over again this weekend, and I was fine. We went out for drinks, I drank a lot of water, and I was ok. Actually I slept deepest / best this weekend. Maybe I'm just getting used to being there.

@Palavah I have and will continue to try to reduce chemical / cleaning product use!
And I have ordered a Carbon Monoxide detector (not available in supermarket here). So I am trying all the suggestions.

@sadie9, twice I recovered quickly (within half an hour / hour), the last time I think I had (or it brought on) a migraine, which I had all day and next day.
