Help me get my bowels moving? Desperate

Hi,

I've posted about this before pre-pregnancy. I'm suffering yet again with constipation. I'm 10+2 and I look about 20 weeks because I desperately need to go.

I haven't been for about a week, my daily diet is really balanced.

Is there anything I can take? I'm isolating at the minute and can't get anyone to go the shops but I can order online.

I have lactulose in but I'm not sure if it's pregnancy safe?

Does it get better :( I've been pregnant before and I don't remember suffering this much

I feel so full and sick

Movicol (or Laxido..same stuff different brand) is better than Lactulose..and you can keep upping the dose until it works. You can buy it OTT or get a prescription. Both perfectly safe in pregnancy :)
Glycerine suppositories to shift the low down poo.

(had 4 kids and have a chronic bowel problem so very familiar!)

Warm water with lemon juice first thing in the
Morning

Mylittlepony374 · 24/01/2021 23:19

Kiwifruit. It's what they used to use in hospitals in New Zealand.

Movicol worked for me. Also, if you’re isolating, if you have stairs, going up and down several times should do the trick.

Pure orange juice ( 1 glass )in morning. During the day wholemeal bread, something like vegetable soup.lots of dark green veg with dinner.
Make sure you're drinking 2 litres of water a day.
Dont get reliant on laxatives as the bowel can get very lazy and you'll end up dependant on them.

2 weetabix mushed in warm milk every morning. Works a treat.

All good tips but I think actually moving your body will help move your bowels! I gentle but hearty walk, some yoga etc.

Decaff coffee. It helps my daughter whenever shes constipated.

Hi you need to tackle this was the bottom end!!!
Obtain some glycerin suppositorys from boots - the feacus at the bottom end gets very hard and the glycerin softens it.
It’s always successful for me - i have used then a couple of times - once I pass - I can tell there is more in their and I use another one.
I think increase my fluids, take prunes in the morning before food and move a bit more.
I think they would be safe in pregnancy but check first.
Constipation is horrible.

Put together a plan for this immediate problem, and then you will need to adjust things on an everyday basis going forward so that it doesnt build up again.

I would highly recommend dried apricots on allbran for breakfast and a shot of prune juice mid morning as a daily regime

Allbran and dried fruit is really not good in pregnancy. The bowel is relaxed and transit time is increased, so you can end up with large, solid stools that just cause a massive blockage.
In pregnancy it is better to have small amounts of porridge, prunes, vegetable soup, stewed fruit and lots of fluids. Stuff that travels through easily.
But once you get a blockage in the rectum only glycerine suppositorues will shift it.
