It's worrying for you I know but he'll be in the best hands. I wish you well with his recovery.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 28/10/2007 20:22

At least he will be checked properly and you know that you are in the right place. I hope he gets better quickly

Elibean · 28/10/2007 20:28

get well soon, LO. I know its a pain (my dd2 also tends to get pulled in over things like this, as has chest history) but at least he'll be seen and your mind will be eased. Let us know how he is when you can, xx

Kiddi · 28/10/2007 20:29

Good luck, hope docs sort him out. If you having difficulty with getting fluids in, use the nurofen syringe, rinsed well, no drop onto his tongue, ice pops are great but difficult if grunpy or asleep, droplets can be swallowed and absorbed one at a time on tongue even if half asleep. If your child likes to suck things, dummy , blanket, thunb, etc trying a clean damp flannel, my grumpy chumpy sucks things shen she lethargic thru heat.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 28/10/2007 20:31

Awww, your poor ds and these things always happen out of hours too. Hope he gets seen quickly.

alibobins · 29/10/2007 10:43

Quick update- Ds was admitted to hospital as they wern't happy with his breathing

After blood tests and chest x-ray it was decided he has a chest infection deep in his lungs so is now on iv antibiotics for 3 days minimum.

His temp spiked to 41 last night so i'm glad I went.

Just going to have a shower whilst dh covers. Thanks for all your help last night.

Ali, i hope he recovers quickly.

Sounds like you did the right thing taking him in.

Let us know how he goes please.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 29/10/2007 13:07

Oh poo, poor little chap. Those IV antibiotics are fab though, he'll be feeling much better very soon I'm sure.

Elibean · 29/10/2007 13:35

Poor love. Well done for taking him in, and I hope the ABs do their work ultra fast..xx

alibobins · 30/10/2007 18:05

Another update.

Ds is still really poorly his temp is still all over the place and he is now on 24hour oxygen

Dh has took over for a few hours whilst i'm spending some time with dd.

Docs are hopeful he will start to pick up tomorrow.

I hate to see him so poorly

oh no Ali Sorry to hear that

mummyeme · 30/10/2007 18:43

Hi,
All the best, I really mean that. Dd was on IV antibiotics day she was born and seeing your lo poorly is the worst thing in the world. Big wishes he'll be causing toddler chaos again v. soon x

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/10/2007 21:34

Oh no, sorry to hear that too. Let us know if he's on the mend tomorrow won't you. What a worrying time

Elibean · 30/10/2007 22:43

Oh Ali, I'm so sorry...I know how gut wrenching it is to see your LO poorly in hospital. Hoping for better news tomorrow, and that you had some quality time with dd today...and some rest (unlikely, I know, just remember how exhausting having one in hospital can be) xxx

foxinsocks · 31/10/2007 13:32

oh ali, I hope he gets better soon. Poor little chap.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 31/10/2007 17:08

How's he doing Alibobbins?

Earthymama · 31/10/2007 17:31

This takes me back many years to when my son was little; your description of little one being floppy makes my stomach clench up even now.

I'm sending blessings to your little one and thought you might like to know my DS's chest is fine now, (though he's just had a mastoidectomy after many many ear infections)

I would tell you how old he is but that might give the game away..but if I tell you DD and I used to dress him up as Adam Ant when he was 2 you should be able to guess!!

Again Blessings EM

alibobins · 01/11/2007 13:21

Well ds is still on iv abs and has got to stay on them till friday at least

He has managed a couple of hours without the oxygen this morning but had to go back on it just before I left

He's still very sleepy and out of it but the docs have said thats to be expected they said it could take up to a month to be back to himself

I'm staying at home this afternoon as feel really sick hopefully I've not got the dreaded bug!!

Thinking of you and litle ds

DANCESwithALitFireworkArrrrrgh · 01/11/2007 13:36

Poor little chap, I bet he's exhausted fighting off all those germs. Hopefully by Friday afternoon he'll be showing lots of improvement. Coming off the oxygen even for a few hours is great. Send him lots of hugs from this strange lady he doesn't know

alibobins · 01/11/2007 17:08

Well I haven't been sick so fingers crossed I can go back tonight.

Feel guilty about leaving him with mil but I really felt crap and needed a break

OP posts:
nimnom · 01/11/2007 17:53

Don't feel guilty - it's important to get yourself well for him and to get some rest.

DANCESwithALitFireworkArrrrrgh · 01/11/2007 18:03

I agree, don't feel guilty, it's so stressful when dc are ill it's exhausting for you too. He'll be extra pleased to see you full of energy when he's brightened up too

alibobins · 02/11/2007 17:03

Slightly better news

They are taking him off iv abs in the morning and as long has he can manage 24 hours with no oxygen then we can come home sunday

Fingers crossed

Oh and not so good news dd got sent home from scholl feeling sick

When does it all end.
