lady bits after childbirrth (well, 4 years after!)

Oh my, I looked in the mirror, big big mistake

(have changed my name for this post!).

I have felt like DH has to get past something when we have sex so I took a peek....

I have fleshy bits that definitely weren't there before childbirth (4 years ago). They are all around the entrance, if I do a tight pelvic floor muscle exercise they all block the entrance ....it looks like something is trying to escape if I then let go! One is like a finger! (obviously smaller!)

No bleeding, pain or anything from them.

Asked doc very matter of factly who said it is how I'm left after childbirth. I had no stitches, had a 'graze'. But she said it's from all the stretching.

So, anyone else got this??!!

I definitely don't look the same . Have not name changed so wont put too much info down, but a lot of what you say sounds sadly familiar .

PirateoftheScarybeing · 27/10/2007 18:37

hiya, can empathise, its your hymen, all those bits. your stretched hymen.

eww

anyway, mine is the same, and i also had lots of tears and grazes, and have scars everywhere, even the blody stitch marks.

its a shock i know.

goodnessgraciousme · 27/10/2007 22:19

not alone then am I!

I'll try not to panic then......

Let's face it - it's never pretty to look at in the first place, is it?! Believe it or not we are all different down there. I hope things work out for you - try to have confidence. xx

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/10/2007 22:46

My ds is 11 weeks old and yeah, things are not as they once were. I couldn't tell you exactly what's changed, but it somehow looks knackered! lol

I don't suppose it's worth worrying about generally, but the thought did cross my mind of if I ever got into a new relationship what the new fella would think of my post-pregnancy body.

UnionJack · 27/10/2007 22:51

Yes I have all sorts going on down there. I call them my giblets.

IndulgeMePlease · 27/10/2007 22:54

A friend of mine describes this as the 'broken sofa' effect. I was left with a skin tag after DD, at least I think that's what the midwife said during that awful post-delivery examination. It looks like a little tongue poking out. Quite cheeky

goodnessgraciousme · 27/10/2007 22:55

Giblets, ha ha that's hilarious!

goodnessgraciousme · 27/10/2007 22:56

Indulge - yes that's exactly what one of them look like!!

god i love mumsnet, wish i'd had it around after i had dd 5 yrs ago, with all the complications. I was really feeling alone then.

goodnessgraciousme · 28/10/2007 08:49

Me too pirate. I had a terrible time after I had my DS1 8 years ago.

There's things you just can't talk to RL friends about..

Forgot to add, apart from the skin tag I also have, mine didn't look too bad afterwards, but now I am pg again, and everything is a bit swollen, things look a lot worse .

PirateoftheScarybeing · 28/10/2007 20:46

sea monster, thats all i can say. tmi, but hey, its a bloody shock isnt it1

pollywollydooooooooodle · 28/10/2007 21:33

same thing here...

i went for a smear and the practice nurse said i had flabby walls and she would have to order an extra wide speculum to do it

i had wondered if i had prolapsed but gp said no....."just childbirth"

luckily(?) hubby not put off

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 28/10/2007 21:54

It definitely is TMI, but it makes me wonder what exactly has happened to mine as dp says it feels better than before (it doesn't look any better, as I said earlier) so I wonder if I now have "flabby walls" too which make it a bit um... narrower? Anyone had any experience of this?

One of these days I should bother to namechange. Ah well.

PirateoftheScarybeing · 28/10/2007 23:12

wouldnt flabbier walls make it larger tho, over all, less tight?

pollywollydooooooooodle · 29/10/2007 10:49

not if the contents of your pelvis are pushing the folds inwards because the walls aren't strong enough to keep the pelvic bits out....sorry if TMI

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 29/10/2007 11:04

Ohhhh god I feel sexy now. Not.

pollywollydooooooooodle · 29/10/2007 11:15

sorry

pollywollydooooooooodle · 29/10/2007 11:16

same result tho'...he says it feels better....

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 29/10/2007 11:35

I suppose we have that to be thankful for.

Now all we need to do is never have the lights on in the bedroom ever again, and we're sorted!

Either that or go down the designer vagina route! ouch...

FrannyandZooey · 29/10/2007 11:39

Oh yes mine is appalling

dp claims not to be able to tell the difference

toastedteacake · 29/10/2007 11:42

There's always a rubbish joke to cheer you up.... No offence meant.

A woman went into hospital to have her lady bits 're-aligned' after childbirth left them in a bit of a state.

After the operation the surgeon came to see her carrying three red roses. The woman asked what they were for. The surgeon explained:

The first one is from your husband; he says thank you for being a wonderful and considerate wife and he is so proud of you.

The second one is from the operating team; we would just like to say thank you for being such a good patient.

"Well who's the third one from?" asks the woman

The surgeon replies... "Oh this is from Brian, he's in the burns unit, he says thanks very much for the new ears".

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 29/10/2007 11:44

Luckily most men are so sex deprived after having kids they don't appear to mind the differences too much.

Congrats on your news by the way Franny!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 29/10/2007 11:45

lol toasted teacake! evil...
