Anyone had plantar faciitus just disappear???

I've had it over 2yrs. New trainers, gait assessment, podiatrist, physio, lost 10kg and nothing helped. I've now put the weight back on, no longer doing the stretches and physio exercises and its suddenly gone! The odd niggle, but 99% better. Anyone else had it suddenly go? Did it return?

Mine has gone. I get the odd flare up every now and again, but if I get back on the exercises, I can get it under control.

I first got mine in pregnancy but it took a good year post baby to go.

I hope yours stays away. Just look out for warning signs that it may be returning and do your exercises.

sosotired1 · 31/12/2020 22:04

I had mine after pregnancy, I can't remember for how long for but yes it just weirdly disappeared and never returned (7 years now!)

lljkk · 31/12/2020 22:06

What exercises work for you gals?

Not me, but I have spoken to quite a few people who said their PF disappeared overnight and for no obvious reason. Mine is gone at moment. but went away more slowly. I think it would come back if I ran a lot. I'm running 50 minutes 2-4x/week currently -- right now worried about my right knee, actually. Always something!

CarinaMarina · 31/12/2020 22:07

Christ I wish. I first injured the plantar fascia in my right foot in 2015, running down some stairs, and it just never gets better. I've had all the same treatments you've had and even went as far as to have surgery (a gastrocnemius release) to relieve the pressure, but although it improved about 20% it's still there. In fact it's bloody agony today.

I hope it says away for you OP!

You didn't get some new shoes or something, did you? I thought I'd suddenly developed plantar faciitis a little while ago until I realised it always coincided with the same pair of shoes...

HannibalHayes · 31/12/2020 22:10

Took something over a year to go away for me.

Birdladybird · 31/12/2020 22:11

I got some new insoles and wore them for the summer, after i went back to my boots and its never reappeared!!

anomletteandaglassofwine · 31/12/2020 22:13

I bought a pair of Birkenstock's, the ones with shearling lining and it's gone. Yay!

Pipandmum · 31/12/2020 22:28

Yes I've had it twice. Nothing helped but eventually it went away.

Poppyliveshere · 31/12/2020 22:35

Yes, had it so badly a year ago and had had it for about 2 years. Then I broke my shoulder and spent 6 weeks at home, and on anti inflammatory meds and it went never to be seen again 🤞🏼

whatnow41 · 31/12/2020 22:41

I developed PF during lockdown, 6 months of working from home and never wearing shoes. You've given me hope.

Elouera · 31/12/2020 22:54

After 2yrs of agony, I never thought it would go. The only thing that changed, was I had an IVF cycle this month, and thought maybe the hormones played a part. I doubt that is the case though and its just coincidence, because it was a failed cycle and I'm on no meds now.

I do hope it stays away though.

I spent a day up and down on a ladder painting exterior of house. It disappeared and this was after three months solid of pf pain

LimitIsUp · 01/01/2021 00:12

Mine has responded to treatment - shockwave therapy. Not totally gone but 80% better

Lordamighty · 01/01/2021 00:18

Yes mine just totally disappeared. I could barely walk first thing in the morning. I didn’t have any treatment it just went on it’s own.

Wintersunn · 01/01/2021 00:28

Yes mine suddenly disappeared after months of pain during the first lockdown, maybe wfh, less walking and not wearing shoes outside?!

Candlesticking · 01/01/2021 00:34

Ive never had it myself, but three close family members — DM, SiL and my aunt — have all had it. In all three cases, they took exercises seriously, experimented with expensive orthotics, different types of footwear, physio etc. All three had it apparently vanish almost overnight, bar occasional niggles, after between two and two and a half years — not having tried anything new. Ive heard similar from other people.

Quarks69 · 01/01/2021 00:36

After a year and a half of trying everything, I did the electro shock therapy on the nhs. 3 weekly sessions of 6 just mins and it went overnight.

All this guff about exercises And tight calf muscles, they did nothing for me!

It is supposed to be self limiting though so could be a coincidence and nothing actually affects it. It will go in the end.

Gormless · 01/01/2021 01:21

Same here: I had it for several weeks, acutely, and it seemed to vanish overnight. It’s very strange.

SophieJo · 01/01/2021 13:32

Mine suddenly disappeared. From getting out of bed in the morning and dreading putting my foot down, I suddenly realised one day that the awful pain had gone. I wear insoles now in all my shoes.

Flutterby8 · 01/01/2021 17:30

Had it in my right foot for ages and had physio for it and suddenly one day it just went. Really random.
However it then started about a month later in my left foot. No warning at all. Just got up one morning with severe pain. It hasnt got any better this time sadly.

xmaselves · 01/01/2021 17:38

After years of various treatments, insoles and various shoes and assorted trainers mine has almost gone... not 100% but to the point that it's only uncomfortable and not excruciating. I put this change done to only having worn trainers since March, better support. Flair ups now only happening if I venture into any shoes. Which at the moment isn't a necessity.

BrokenLink · 01/01/2021 17:47

I had it for around a year, only able to wear trainers. Saw a physio and used Voltarol gel for a couple of weeks and it's 95% better

picklemewalnuts · 01/01/2021 18:34

I think the exercises can irritate it. It's an irritated disease, if you see what I mean.

What works for me is supportive shoes which don't let my foot spread from the moment I wake up. So feet out of bed into a pair of tight court shoes. Once I've warmed up a bit, I can wear other things but that first step out of bed needs lots of support.

xmaselves · 01/01/2021 19:51

I agree something on your feet even to nip to the toilet during the night prevents a flare up
