I've had it over 2yrs. New trainers, gait assessment, podiatrist, physio, lost 10kg and nothing helped. I've now put the weight back on, no longer doing the stretches and physio exercises and its suddenly gone! The odd niggle, but 99% better. Anyone else had it suddenly go? Did it return?

I don't want to jinx it but mine has improved significantly since putting arch support insoles in all my shoes including slippers and avoiding very flat shoes. It's down to barely a niggle now, no throbbing or actual pain.

When it started I already had tennis elbow and was waking every night with a painful back and while these weren't lifechanging individually, having them all at one time made me feel like I was being stung by a hundred ants, I seemed to never be pain-free.

Naproxen helped my back, ibuprofen gel fixed the elbow, nothing seemed to improve PF though I admit I was not good at icing because I suffer from cold feet and I couldn't bear it. And the PF boot made my foot throb.

All good now, so there is hope Smile

Yes, me.

HRT, 3k of vit D and boots scholl sports insoles. Disappeared about 3 weeks into the hrt.

MrsMiaWallis · 01/01/2021 21:44

I'd had it for 3 years and tried everything.

Acupuncture and exercises to strengthen ankles got rid of mine. I think it must be 8 years or more since it went.

Mine disappeared over the summer and then reappeared when I went back to winter shoes, which is how I worked out that the cause of it was bamboo socks from M&S that I had bought the previous November. I replaced them with cotton socks and the pain went away over a couple of weeks and never came back. It had been very sore, I was doing exercises before getting out of bed every morning and I couldn't walk very fast because I couldn't take a full stride.

Mine disappeared. I lost two stone and now walk five miles a day. I make sure I have good insoles in shoes.

quickkimchi · 01/01/2021 21:53

I'm convinced mine was hormone related. I really struggled with sore joints for about a year (mat Pilates was agony, GP heel-dragging on HRT) then it palpably lifted all at once.
Also my heels suddenly went very narrow, I now walk out of almost any shoe that fits the ball of my foot, it's very annoying.

DansMaPoche · 01/01/2021 21:55

Yes. It took months though. I learnt not to wear shoes that were too flat. It was spending a couple of months in very flat shoes with no support on the instep that brought my PF on in the first place.

Stretching the foot by holding the leg straight and pointing the toes towards me before putting weight on them/getting out of bed

FestiveFruitloop · 01/01/2021 22:35

Mine comes and goes. I seem to be in 'remission' atm but it flares up regularly.

WhoMe23 · 01/01/2021 23:30

I developed PF during lockdown. It was awful. I was walking around without anything on my feet. I bought some ergonomic flip flops and after about a month along with rolling my foot on a tennis ball it disappeared. Hasn’t returns since. Thank goodness. It was hell.

I had it once and it is agony. I rested, took painkillers and thought it would take months. I wore compressed socks (I have a really weak ankle), trainers and it went in days!
