Quitting Pepsi Max in 2021 Support Thread

NoZoomAtTheInn · 27/12/2020 20:48

Open to anyone who has already quit with their success stories or anyone who also wants to quit.

I’ve tried twice to stop in the past, once by just stopping and once by gradually cutting down. Both times the withdrawal headaches were awful. Have decided this time to speak to GP first to see if there is anything I can take - like smokers get nicotine patches/gum - while I wean myself off it.

30 days of no cans at all!! Bloody well done @NoZoom!!!!!

NoZoomAtTheInn · 16/02/2021 21:49

Thanks Hue - I’m really pleased

How’s everyone doing?

I want to report something - just today, I haven’t craved any ‘bad’ foods! It’s a miracle! No vegan pancakes with lemon and sugar for me, wasn’t even interested. early days of course but will monitor and keep you posted

I wrote a post earlier today & it's disappeared!

Basically I fell off the wagon again yesterday. I'm so annoyed with myself.....again! I was with my son & he bought me a slice of pizza & the only choice of drinks was Coke or Coke Zero. He brought me Coke zero as he didn't know I've given it up. I couldn't get to sleep, was really agitated & had a terrible night. So, lesson learned. I'll make sure to always take a drink with me from now on

NoZoomAtTheInn · 18/02/2021 21:30

Hi hue - you’ve got the right attitude, so you fell off the wagon but sounds like you didn't even enjoy it or the after effects and you’re now back on that wagon with a lesson learned under your belt! And remember you only had 3 cans in 33 days! That’s bloody good going!

Wonder how everyone else is doing? Hope the half term hasn’t made everyone glug the horrid stuff in gallons!

Back on track today, how's everyone else getting on?

NoZoomAtTheInn · 19/02/2021 23:05

Go Hue! Have all the effects worn off?

It’s certainly gone rather quiet. Hopefully that means that everyone else has kicked the habit and doesn’t need this thread anymore!

Another day done ✔

Now I'm wanting to reduce/eliminate bread & im thinking if I can do dc/pm I can do the bread thing too. What do you think? Too much too soon?

NoZoomAtTheInn · 20/02/2021 21:49

Well done Hue! I think it’s amazing that you’re feeling so strong that you’ve now got another ‘addiction/craving’ in your sights! You go for it!

I confess I’ve got no experience of reducing bread - what’s your strategy? How much bread do you have a day?

My news - I’ve put myself on the waiting list for that retreat I mentioned as soon as it can open again 😀 I can do it now I’m caffeine free

Aww that's brilliant @NoZoomAtTheInn, great to have something to look forward to.

Haven't worked out my strategy yet, I've just thought for a while that bread causes bloating & makes me feel uncomfortable. Just trying to eliminate all the baddies. I practically live on toast though so it could prove difficult Grin

NoZoomAtTheInn · 21/02/2021 21:53

Ahhh got it Hue, have you started your bread reducing today? I suppose it’s just trial and error finding something else that is hot and tasty but no carbs?

Another good day for me. No toxic drinks & no bread either! I don't think I can eliminate bread completely but reducing can only be good for me.

Haha I'm the expert at falling off the wagon @EssexLioness

Was beginning to think it was only me & @NoZoomAtTheInn left!!

I'm actually not feeling well (again!) which would normally be high risk for reaching for the dc/pm but I can't think of anything I want less!!

Well done to everyone keeping going, whether you're posting or not Flowers

EssexLioness · 24/02/2021 10:16

Thanks @NoZoomAtTheInn, I just had a busy/ stressful time and fell back into an old comforting habit. Feeling more confident this time, got my glass of water by my side

NoZoomAtTheInn · 24/02/2021 22:48

Sorry to hear you’re a bit under the weather again Hue, hope you feel much better soon but great news that it’s not making you reach for the horrid stuff!

Essex, great to hear that you’re feeling confident, we’re all rooting for you.

No idea what day I'm on but I'm keeping at it. No more slip ups. Don't even think about it much except to wonder how much money I've saved & what I could do with it.

Happy Friday everyone

IhaveNotBroughtMySpecsWithMe · 26/02/2021 19:38

I was drinking 4L a day of Pepsi max during the first lock down.

Brought a soda stream and haven't drunk any since around July (just fizzy water).

It's the fizz I missed.

EssexLioness · 26/02/2021 20:46

Forgot to check in, still doing well. Day 4 complete. Not even thought of coke in that time. Know it’s early days but I’m feeling positive this time

Hello all just want to say I was a massive fiend for this stuff.
You can do it.

I have been Diet Coke free since Xmas 2019. I just don't buy it any more and switched to fizzy water.

I then went caffeine free in the summer on holiday (which was best time, could just lie by pool- I know they isn't possible in lockdown)

NoZoomAtTheInn · 27/02/2021 21:56

Thanks Orchid, it’s inspiring to hear quitting success stories

Well, it’s been a beautiful day here on the south coast, warm sunshine and blue skies. First time I’ve been able to walk the dog without my north face jacket on! It’s wonderful to see daffodils, cherry blossom and buds on the trees. Only 4 weeks now until the clocks go forward as well.

Back to quitting the horrid stuff, I’ve definitely noticed that I am no longer craving/binging bad food!
