Extreme pain to right of belly button when pressed

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 06:42

Hi, just a long shot to get some possibilities of what this is. On Friday I leant over and felt a sharp pain in my abdomen, on the right hand side next to my belly button, so under my right rib. I couldn't feel anything there when not pushing, so no pain, but a general awareness of the area. I have had a bad back for a few weeks.

I sought medical help and was advised that it was my poo pipe, but that my bowel sounded good. A urine sample showed that I have a huge uti and kidney infection. I've got no cystitis symptoms at all.

I've taken 2 days of co-amoxiclav and have 5 more days to take. The abdominal pain feels an issue still. It feels like something is there. It was uncomfortable with my dressing gown belt touching it. But no pain. When I push it the pain is extreme, like a red hot, searing pain, but only when I push. What is this? Is it the uti? Am I ok to leave it? I was unable to poo yesterday, but have every other day, quite hard stools sometimes. Is it gas? I'm supposed to contact GP today for a blood test but not sure they'll see me. Just not sure what to do next.

Aargghhh is it a kidney stone??

I'm no expert but could it be your appendix or ovarian cyst? I certainly wouldn't just leave it.

PragmaticWench · 16/11/2020 07:15

It could be a hernia?

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 07:20

Thanks it feels sore like I'd imagine a hernia, but I'm also ovulating.

Hernias tend to feel like a band around your body. You can't stand straight. That's when they first appear. Hernias bulge when out depending on size. They are very painful. They don't hurt all the time. What ever is going on you need help. Hernias are horrible. Can be common around belly button area due to having babies. Hope you see your gp soon. X

ChasingRainbows19 · 16/11/2020 07:50

See your gp, get the bloods done seek further advice.

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 07:53

I just hope I can get to see my GP! I'll just have to see how it goes today. If its horrendous I guess I'll have to go to a&e.

You need to finish the antibiotics and then see what you’re left with.
You need to address the hard stools. Drink plenty of water and increase your fruit/veg intake.

pheonixrebirth · 16/11/2020 07:54

Sounds very much like appendicitis. Call 111 straight away.

Her GP is dealing with it. What are 111 going to do that the GP isn't?
Jroseforever · 16/11/2020 08:20

It’s your uti
Almost certain

ProudAuntie76 · 16/11/2020 08:42

I had similar plus other symptoms (diarrhoea, nausea, uti as well) and had to use out of hours 111 and was sent to a local hospital for an examination initially by a nurse practitioner. It was appendicitis.

ProudAuntie76 · 16/11/2020 08:48

Her GP is dealing with it. What are 111 going to do that the GP isn't?

I disagree. The GP aren’t dealing with it sufficiently if it is appendicitis. She’s got to call today for a blood test that’s all and she’s not sure if they will see her. She needs
an appointment and an examination today, 111 can make urgent care appointments when the GP won’t see you for a start.

OP agreed that if the pain gets excruciating you need to go to A&E but right sided extreme pain when you push on it is quite typical for appendicitis and you don’t want to leave it too long to be seen to. It needs rules out as is dangerous if you leave it, it can burst, you can get peritonitis or sepsis.

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 08:54

Just waiting for GP call back. Pulse and temp fine.

I specifically asked if it was appendix and she said no.

Mittelschmertz

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 09:25

I do suffer with ovulation but this feels like something is bleeding/been stabbed.

Over the phone?

You’d need a physical examination and blood test to definitely rule it out.

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 09:44

No, I saw somebody on Saturday.

Someonesayroadtrip · 16/11/2020 09:49

Your appendix is much lower, in your pelvic region. I heard that pain is worse in release rather than pressing, if that makes sense.

Hopefully GP will get back to you ASAP and you feel better soon.

Twinkie01 · 16/11/2020 12:00

Yes appendix hurts on the release of pushing rather than the actual push generally. It's a bit further down too.

TheSilentStars · 16/11/2020 13:29

I'm currently having this - pain around belly button which radiates down to lower right hand side settling just above my hipbone. My GP said that's typical appendix pain (who knew) which starts near navel because of everything being joined up.

She also thought possible kidney stones or UTI or even gallbladder which can also radiate downwards.

I had gynae scan on Friday and it's not ovaries or uterus.

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 13:42

I'm having bloods done. It's around the gallbladder and liver area. Still hoping it's just related to poo or kidney infection. Time to change my diet! I'm a stone over my bmi.

OP posts:
lostandfound55 · 16/11/2020 18:34

Have they mentioned an ultrasound scan to check for gallstones?

McRibpain · 16/11/2020 18:36

The nurse was going to speak to the GP. I'll check with them when I ring up for my results.
