right, i always say if its bigger than a 10p then seek medical advice.

have burnt middle finger and some of my palm. had it under running cold water for 15mins. skin isnt brokwn or blistered, but is painful and a little bit red.

should i actually seek out of hours attention from clinic? or wait and see?

keep it in water sa long as you can. as it sounds like it involves your joints, I'd seek advice

mosschops30 · 17/10/2007 17:43

wait and see

Carmenere · 17/10/2007 17:43

I would put some egg white on it and see how it is in an hour

sorry for shouting.

interviewed burns specialist this week.

Bundle · 17/10/2007 17:45

NOOOOO

OIL IS WHAT YOU COOK WITH

WATER ONLY

ahem

mosschops30 · 17/10/2007 17:46

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON IT

keep it under cold running water for as long as you can stand. Then wait and see how it goes.
I had terrible burns on both little fingers once (dont ask ) they blistered and I was screaming in pain. Even then A&E wouldnt touch it, left it alone, it ended up ok and no scarring

was trying to remember the keeping it clean and remembered cling film is used, but skin isnt broken so really no risk of infection just yet is it?

watling

if your husband is a paramedic he would know NOT to put anything on a new burn

ScaryScienceT · 17/10/2007 17:51

You've done the right thing, first aid wise (10minutes minimum under a cold tap). If it starts to hurt again, just run it under the tap again.

If it blisters, which it may well do, do not be tempted to pop them. It is nature's way of healing your burn.

cling film ok - but don't wrap it round tightly in case there's constriction around joint. but sounds like you won't need it. once finished cooling, keep it dry and assess how painful it is, if it's blistering
