Health issue i keep ignoring but think I need to deal with. Lump and terrified

I've been putting this off for weeks now.

I've got a huge fleshy lump just inside my vagueness. I'm not sure how long it's been there as I only noticed that hen it became really itch a few weeks ago.

I'm so scared that it's something serious. It started bleeding today.

I will be ringing the gp tomorrow but I'm dreading the thought of someone rummaging about in me and even more so of the results of any tests.

Ffs a vagueness is a vagina 😂😂

I thought you were just being polite! Hope the Doctor goes well

RivkaMumsnet · 08/11/2020 21:57

Hi OP, have moved this to General Health for you.

Duckwit · 08/11/2020 22:00

Yes, I thought you were just being coy calling it your 'vagueness'!

Definitely ring your GP, they will have seen it all before and you know you need to do this. Whatever it is, it's much better to have it diagnosed than not, even though it is scary as hell. Good luck x

mineofuselessinformation · 08/11/2020 22:06

OP, don't panic yet - but do insist you need to be examined by a GP.
From what you've described, it sounds like it might be a prolapse. If it's at the front, it might be your bladder or urethra, if it's at the back, it could be your rectum.
I've had all of them (!)
I christened the one at the front my 'sea anemone' as that was what it felt like.
Some prolapses are fixable with exercises, but some need an operation.
Get yourself to your GP so you can put your mind at rest. Thanks

candle18 · 08/11/2020 23:06

Could it be a bartholin cyst?

cricketmum84 · 09/11/2020 05:50

Thanks guys

@mineofuselessinformation that might make sense with some of the other symptoms I've been getting. It's at the front so could be bladder and I've been having bladder issues also.

Oh god I'm dreading the GP conversation. All our appts are telephone first and only seen in the surgery if the doctor Deems necessary.

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 09/11/2020 05:51

@candle18 would a cyst be painful? X

OP posts:
PurBal · 09/11/2020 06:05

Hi OP, I get these. It ended up just being hormonal acne. You can take medication to clear it and there are creams.

cricketmum84 · 09/11/2020 08:05

Got a call with a gp this morning. Great conversation with the receptionist “and where exactly is this lump”.... “erm.............”

OP posts:
mineofuselessinformation · 09/11/2020 21:51

Ah, that's a bit off!
Mind you, I got to the point where dc1 said to me 'blimey, Mum, is there anyone who hasn't seen your fanny?' Grin
And I didn't actually care anymore, I just wanted it fixed.....
I hope you get some help with whatever it turns out to be, but believe me, they've seen and heard it all, so you don't need to feel embarrassed.

candle18 · 09/11/2020 22:49

@cricketmum84 I had a bartholins cyst years ago but can’t actually remember if it was painful. I think they can be tender but not necessarily. I think it went away after a few weeks. Do you have an appointment to see the GP? Let us know how you get on.

cricketmum84 · 10/11/2020 07:26

@candle18 thank you 🙏🏼

Yes booked in for an examination tomorrow morning. Feeling quite nervous at what they are going to say. The GP I spoke to is suggesting it sounds like a prolapse.

OP posts:
Roselilly36 · 10/11/2020 07:30

Good luck @cricketmum84. Well done for making the appointment, not an easy thing to do when you are worried/embarrassed/scared. Your GP would have seen it all before, so try not to worry & hopefully your mind can be put at rest.

cricketmum84 · 10/11/2020 07:40

Thanks @Roselilly36. It was as quite embarrassing talking about it!! I'll be fine with the examination as I've given birth twice and I think you sort of lose any embarrassment over doctors rummaging about down there once you have been in stirrups with 3 doctors and 2 midwives having a good look!!! 😂😂

Also definitely blood in my urine this morning so worrying a bit more now. I've got to take a sample with me tomorrow though so I'm sure they will pick it up.

GP appt done. She said bladder prolapse. Think I need a little cry, I'm too young for all this!! She said I need to prepare myself for surgical intervention as she couldn't push it back in and it looks like quite a bit prolapse. Still stressed as hell xx

OP posts:
Roselilly36 · 11/11/2020 11:50

Oh bless you OP, it will get sorted out. Have a cry if it makes you feel a bit better. Is there anything that can be done in the meantime that can help your symptoms? I hope you got anyone in rl that can support you. Sending you Flowers & a hug.

cricketmum84 · 11/11/2020 12:00

Thanks @Roselilly36 ❤️ my husband is amazing and actually came with me and stoood outside the surgery this morning as obv you can't take anyone with you. He has been great.

My 16 year old daughter knew I had an appt I was stressed about but doesn't know the ins and outs. Just that it's "intimate" she went out to the corner shop yesterday and chucked a bar of galaxy at me and gave me a hug when she got back which is extremely rare!!

OP posts:
Roselilly36 · 11/11/2020 14:10

Ahh, that’s good OP. Take it easy. Hoping it can be fixed as soon as possible for you. Flowers

mineofuselessinformation · 11/11/2020 18:50

@cricketmum84, at least you know what it is now, and that it isn't life-threatening, to look on the bright side. Your GP sounds switched on too, which is good.
Be prepared, though, that you may be given the exercises to do as the first-line treatment.
If you are currently running as a form of exercise, it's a good idea to swap to something kinder to your pelvic floor.
I had my bladder done at the same time as my hysterectomy, so I can't comment on what the recovery is like for bladder alone, but do know if you get yourself over to whatever form the 'any old prolapse' thread is now, you'll get some great advice from people with experience. (It's how I first came to Mumsnet!)
Best of luck.

Watch the skin doctor programme. Week after week she meets & treats people with lumps in funny places. Good reminder that most lumps are totally benign.

cricketmum84 · 07/12/2020 22:23

Hospital appt tomorrow. Trying not to freak out too much!!

OP posts:
TheSilentStars · 08/12/2020 19:56

Hope it went ok for you OP. Flowers

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 08/12/2020 20:34

Hope you're ok OP. Good that you are being seen quickly. Hopefully your vagueness will be sorted soon Thanks

cricketmum84 · 09/12/2020 09:21

Thanks guys. It's actually a urethral diverticularum. Yes I had to google too 😂

Waiting on a date for an MRI and then will definitely need surgery.
