What's your resting heart rate?

I've just recently purchased the New FitBit Versa 3 and I love how it tracks your sleep pattern and heart rate through the day and night.
Mine seems to be a resting heart rate of 67- 75 and when I'm up on my feet doing things around the house it's around 85-90 bpm but often goes over 100 when I'm fishing around.
I'm interacted to know what everyone else's are as I have no idea what's normal and I'm just getting to grips with this new health watch 🤣

67

(Aged 50, very overweight)

MissMarplesGlove · 11/10/2020 12:31

My resting heart rate at night is around 58-60. During the day, around 60-63. It can go up to 180 in the middle of my metcon training session (like HIIT only more and no rest gaps). I'm in my early 60s and v fit.

polkadotpixie · 11/10/2020 12:41
  1. Always has been since I first checked it in Biology class as a teenager. No idea why it's so high, I'm fairly slim and healthy, it's just always been high
dontdisturbmenow · 11/10/2020 15:32

I'm aware mine is technically bracardia - hence I got it checked at the doctors with an ecg
Do you mean it goes down to this rather than it being your resting heart rate?

Because having such a low resting heart rate is that of professional marathon runners, so very unlikely to be healthy in an overweight person.

Could it be that the ECG evidenced that it wasn't likely to be the case? I had a resting heart rate of about 48 when I was referred to the cardiologist and I got a heart ultrasound, and fitted with a heart rate monitor over 5 days, twice.

I find it very strange that your GP would have been happy to just do an ECG that showed that level of heart rate and left it that all was normal.

notapizzaeater · 11/10/2020 15:35

@dontdisturbmenow

I've just checked it on my watch and today it's 46 average. I had a heart ultrasound a few years ago and that was clear. My gp says as long as I'm not dizzy, fainting etc it's fine. My BP is normally about 125/70 ish

AlexaShutUp · 11/10/2020 15:41

Around 57 usually. It fluctuates a bit between 55-60. It would definitely creep up if I didn't exercise regularly.

dontdisturbmenow · 11/10/2020 15:41

Have been bradychardic my whole life, am now approaching 50yo. Current rate (feet up in front of tv) is 45bpm. Goes as low as 42, is mostly in low 50s. Runs in the female line of the family. Downside is I'll likely need a pacemaker later on
Why? This is my normal heart rate too, sane age, was investigated in depth my cardiologist and said all was normal, just genetics and a healthy heart.

Unlessl you suffer from heart disease or a block, why would need a pacemaker?

Saisong · 11/10/2020 19:54

Mainly because of family history. My mum had a pacemaker fitted after she started getting irregular rhythyms then faint episodes where she couldn't get her heart rate back up again. My older sister is now being monitored for irregular rhythyms, she is a cardiac nurse coincidentally. All three of us have been bradychardic all our lives. You are right though it is not a definite that i will head that way.

goose1964 · 11/10/2020 21:36

My resting is over 100, but I'm on meds that bring it down to about 80

PontiacBandit · 11/10/2020 21:43
  1. I don't exercise at all but I need to improve this.
Aragog · 14/10/2020 03:04

My average resting is around 75-80 on a good day. When moving around it rise to over 100, often around 120 and so time more.

I used to have SVTs before I had ablation last year. My heart rate would reach 250-280+ during those episodes.

Monday it was 160ish and my blood pressure was sky high. Ended up in a and e for first time since my ablation. Yesterday it was still really high, and along with rocket high bp I ended up back in hospital. Still here now - awake as the ward is o bright and so loud with constant ad issuing and discharges, so much going on. How I'm supposed to rest I don't know, let alone sleep! Beta blocker and bp meds have brought heart down to 90s so far and bp starting to fall.

So mine Varies a lot but can get very high.

Aragog · 14/10/2020 03:07

the only people who can comment wear Fitbits or Apple Watch etc, which by definition means they are healthy or fit or have an interest in training, equaling an average of low rates.

That's not why I wear an apple each. I use it as a smart watch way more than a heart tracker. It would be rare for me to use it as a fitness tracker, not even a step counter. It's proved useful to monitor my heart though over the years though it only measures to 210 bpm which wasn't high enough for me to measure the fastest rates.

earthycarrots · 14/10/2020 03:33

The British heart foundation says Your resting heart rate is measured by counting the number of beats per minute of your heart while you’re sitting still. A normal resting heart rate range is between 60 and 100 bpm.

Mine is 67. I'm happy with that given the above.

sashh · 14/10/2020 06:43

@Lifestooshort1542

I hope you get some rest.

SVT can be horrible, there isn't a feeling like it is there?

Fortunately mine is just an indicator that my thyroxine needs to be adjusted so it doesn't happen often and the first time it happened I was at work, in a cardiology department, so I could record a rhythm strip.

FippertyGibbett · 14/10/2020 06:46

Mine has always been late 80’s.

middleager · 14/10/2020 06:46

100-120.

I'm 47 and constantly anxious. My work is unmanagable and I worry I'll have a heart attack as BP high too.

Jemenfouscompletement · 14/10/2020 06:52

I'm nearly 55 years old and my resting heart rate is 48 (the rate of an athlete according to charts!). I'm very lucky and do a lot of sport (mainly running) - a low resting heart rate makes sports activities easier.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 14/10/2020 07:09

Pre lockdown mine was 57. I’m 41 and was pretty fit.

I’m not sure what it is now as I can’t find my Fitbit. I’m not as fit as I was then so expect it will be a bit higher

SpideryPlants · 14/10/2020 07:43

When I was not exercising about 76. Now I go for daily brisk walks 58.

SpideryPlants · 14/10/2020 07:44

I am 40 and have lung disease.

SpeckledyHen · 17/10/2020 03:19

Resting 50-54 .

Pandsbear · 18/10/2020 17:59

AcornsVsBcorns · 18/10/2020 18:00

52 mid cycle
58 at the end of one

WFHWFH2020 · 18/10/2020 18:05

Mine is pretty much same as yours currently resting 68 but has been 56 before my 3rd child 😂😂😂 find goes up during stressed, busy periods. During day around 80 to 110. Exercise 120 up to 180.
