Help I can’t find anything to wash my face with

I had some antibiotics 2 years ago. Which I found out I shouldn’t have had this happen 3 times it triggered Gastritis which caused my skin to change gave me Rosacea both ocular and facial plus Seborrhoeic Dermatitis. My skin is literally splitting on my face when I wash. I’ve tried all the stuff aimed at rosacea I’m using vanicream to moisturise with . I’m working at fixing my gut but it’s a slow process. I don’t now what to try anymore. If I go to the docs they will want to give me antibiotics for rosacea and that’s what gave me this to start with. I’ve done soolantra for 4 months. Any suggestions for washing or cleansing and a moisturiser?

Wash with Aveeno. I know it's a moisturiser but that doesn't matter. This won't work if you wear make up as can't remove it but it's very soothing

Mum2jenny · 25/08/2020 21:08

Aqueous cream?

Tasharuby1 · 25/08/2020 21:34

@Mum2jenny

Aqueous cream?
Which ones won’t break you out though most it says don’t use on face as they block pores

Dermol 500 lotion

linerforlife · 25/08/2020 21:47

Don't wear make up and therefore don't wash it. Just rinse it with lukewarm water?!

minipie · 25/08/2020 21:48

Have you tried a cleansing oil? I have a wash off one which I like - it is much less drying than any other face wash I’ve tried, including “non drying” washes.

Moisturiser, perhaps La roche posay Lipikar Baume - I think you can buy sample sizes to try first.

hastingsmua1 · 25/08/2020 21:50

Dermol can be used as both a cleanser and moisturiser. It’s a prescription product for eczema and other skin concerns, I think you can purchase over the counter but it my work out cheaper on prescription

Have you thought of taking probiotics and probiotics, your microbiome is mostly shot to pieces after the antibiotics, hence skin issues. Look at your gut health to help your skin.

DaughterX · 25/08/2020 21:52

Was going to suggest a cleansing oil, like DHC. I've oily skin and prone to rosacea and I love the DHC.

Anthilda · 25/08/2020 21:53

I suffer with hormonal acne which is extremely sore, obviously I dont have the problems you have and i dont know the ins and outs of your condition but the most gentle face wash I've used are from aldi/lidl perfume free and removes waterproof mascara too.

Also a hot flannel feels soothing. Just water.

I'm using a lovely moisturizer at the moment. Nivea q10 day cream with spf and the night cream.

I bought the la Roche lossy milk cleaner this week as my skin had become very sensitive mild roseacea and sore like a wind burnt feeling
It is a non rinse formula very gentle and my skin is calming down , I use Clinique 72 hr moisturiser gel afterwards and fingers crossed my skin is clearing
It may not be suitable for you as yours sounds worse than mine but it may help

suze28 · 25/08/2020 21:55

CeraVe hydrating cleanser is very gentle

hastingsmua1 · 25/08/2020 21:57

I would highly recommend trying the Dermol lotion first as it’s a product a GP would prescribe for your skin condition, so less chance of trial and error compared to other products.

Cooltalkin · 25/08/2020 21:59

Watching with interest too

Tasharuby1 · 25/08/2020 22:02

Dermol I have but it irritated my hands when I used it so scared to try it on my face . I’ve tried DHC but it did strip my skin slightly. Cerave hydrating burns my skin.
I’ve been looking at the face factory cleansing oil has anyone tried it ?

Yes I’m doing the chuckling goat kefir and other probiotics. I’m 4 months in

Have you been referred to a dermatologist? Dermalogica have good senstitive skin range - and are generous with samples.

QueenPaws · 25/08/2020 22:12

Cerave burns me too

This is v good

Ouch, it must be bad if Dermol irritates it!

To be completely frank I think you should chase this up with your GP or push for a dermatology referral before chancing it with new products as your skin seems extremely sensitive. For example, online some people use anti dandruff shampoo on their face to treat it, but that might be too harsh for you. GPs can prescribe other products like anti-fungal treatments, steroid creams, suitable aqueous cream etc.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 25/08/2020 22:20

I react to everything listed here that I have tried (& I’ve tried nearly all of them Sad) - eucerin dermoclean cleansing milk is ok for me.

I second this! The antibiotics might be a total red herring, your gut flora change all the time and should be able to recover from a couple of courses of antibiotic treatment. While good gut health is undeniably vital, there is an awful lot of misinformation relating to it on the web. Pretty much every conceivable health problem has been linked, with very little scientific evidence. Sounds like you need to see a dermatologist.

My friend is a Tropic Skincare ambassador. I have sensitive skin and find the products really nice on my skin. I took her Advise on what to use.
You can get unscented products.
Have a look at the ABC kit and read the reviews. I know if lots of people with skin problems and Tropic has resolved them.

suze28 · 25/08/2020 22:34

Have you tried anything by Caudalie?

I waited 6 months for a dermatologist appointment at the chesterfield royal. When I got there it was an agency doctor who didn’t even look at my face and suggested I washed with dandruff shampoo but not just wash with it leave it on for 5 minutes.
