Fingers crossed. Just to say my husband had similar - sent for urgent consult by optician including scan and turned out to be a minor defect with the eye which apparently likely to have been there since birth. Try not to think the worst (I know very easy to say)

Panpig · 20/08/2020 15:58

Good luck OP!

Singlemum31 · 20/08/2020 16:31

So sorry you’ve had this uncertainty, thinking of you and hope you are soon home with your DC

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 20/08/2020 20:58

Hi @Singlemum31, I haven’t read all of the posts but I just wanted to offer a hand hold.

I am a month post scary eye test and head MRI and CT (I’m sorry to say but I also had to have a lumbar puncture). I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension in the end and have been on tablets for it ever since and it seems to be going well. I had some prior symptoms that I’d been ignoring.

I would really urge you not to google if you can, I know it’s hard and I am the absolute worst for it but everything I found on google did not reflect the reality at all! Feel free to PM me if you like, I know how terrifying it is and I had no one to talk to either x

Please don't assume it's automatically bad OP. It could just be a result of the blood pressure and tablets could return you to normal. Thinking of you! Thanks

Oh OP, hope you're ok Flowers

TwoCupsOfLemonTea · 20/08/2020 22:46

I've been in your shoes - I too had IIH

More common in overweight women and although nasty? Can usually be managed well with diuretics

Katharinablum · 21/08/2020 00:03

I had very similar symptoms to you in 2018. Awful blinding headaches, nausea, only thing that helped was lying down in the dark. Put it down to migraines caused by perimenopause. Had them maybe 2-3 times over a 6 month period. I then randomly discovered I had high blood pressure. Not mega high but suspect it was much higher at work when a bit stressed. The only time I suffered these headaches was you guessed it ...at work ! Since my bp has been treated I haven't had any of these 'migraines' so all I can presume is that the 2 were linked.
Funnily enough 2 work colleagues have had very similar symptoms and both have been diagnosed with hypertension. Both also had visual disturbances - flashing lights, eyes feeling odd. One thought he might have to have laser treatment due to damage but so far is ok. Both got sent to A/E because their bps were so elevated ! Their bps are now much better controlled and I believe no further symptoms.

EBearhug · 21/08/2020 00:12

Blood pressure is treatable so don't worry.

I am not keen on having my eyes investigated, and my blood pressure peaked impressively at the GP, as she took it just after talking about possible eye problems... You have been worrying about the unknown for days, which will not have helped (but is entirely natural.) Hopefully you can now start to relax a little, which will help in itself. Hope you get some rest tonight.

Just checking in to see how you are this morning 💗

Singlemum31 · 21/08/2020 16:47

Well I'm out of hospital,
My blood pressure when I first had it done with 248/120 so was extremely high, I stayed in till half 11 last night where they said if it goes down to 160 I can go home lowest it went to was 171/120 so I was abit naughty and discharged myself. Next step is mri and lumber puncture they are doing these as an out patient but I didn't ask when? Do I have to go doctors to sort this or wait for a letter with a date? Yes I know I should of asked when there but I was just worried about getting home. It's took me 4hours today to get the tablets they prescribed me last night with trip to doctor 2 chemist and back up hospital all because the doc didn't date the prescription, the stress of today has caused a headache so I'm pretty fed up 😳

Please take care of yourself. Don't know the answers to your questions, but can you call the hospital to check?
