I am not feeling right and haven't done for a while. I am very tired and feel tired even after a good sleep. I am having to nap during the day and I feel more tired now than when I first had the kids. I can't contrate properally and am suffering from severe headaches. I had scarlet fever last year and wonder if this triggered a problem but don't want to go to the doctors with tiredness (seems silly) Any ideas? I am ratty with the kids and DH, DH is being very patient, but for how long?

You should go to the doctors mieow. Don't feel silly at all. There must be something that is causing you to feel so tired. (could you be pg?) Good luck and hope you feel better soon xx

spacemonkey · 12/10/2004 13:33

it's not silly to go to the doctor's, it could be a number of things ... thyroid problem maybe, or post-viral fatigue syndrome or something, get to the doc's!

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:33

No, not PG! Just had my monthly!

I have been feeling very tired for about 3 wks and so dizzy, thought it was a virus, but it comes and goes, I get very irritable, my dp says its stress over the kids!!

MummyToSteven · 12/10/2004 13:37

hi mieow, agree with bonnie and spaceymonkey - get yourself to the docs asap - things that spring to mind to me are anaemia, thryoid problem post-viral fatigue. agreee that it is not silly at all.

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:37

this has been going on for months though

bonniej is right mieow - this is exactly what you should go the Drs for. Apart from anything else if you're having severe headaches then it isn't just tiredness. Could you possibly be anaemic? The Dr could test for it and a change of diet or supplements could easily sort this out.

I know how you feel as I always worry that Drs will tell me that I'm wasting their time but try to put that to one side and make an appointment.

Hope you feel better soon.

Are you anxious or down at the mo?

Lesle · 12/10/2004 13:40

you could always call NHS direct, you would speak to a nurse and could get their advice

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:40

Is post-viral fatigue syndrome a reaction to an illness?

OP posts:
spacemonkey · 12/10/2004 13:41

yes, i just wondered if it was to do with the scarlet fever. My mum had ME-like symptoms after a nasty flu virus. Worth checking out, do go to the GP

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:41

I was tested for anaemia a few months ago, when I went about the tiredness, but it seems worse now

MummyToSteven · 12/10/2004 13:42

agree with spacemonkey.

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:42

no harm taking a multi-vitamin containing iron anyway tho.

spacemonkey · 12/10/2004 13:43

where's suzywong? she had very similar symptoms and it turned out to be a thyroid problem. She's feeling loads better now.

I seem to have spent whole morning regurgitating suzy's health advice!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 12/10/2004 13:44

Nothing wrong with going to your GP about this mieow.

Pippinthedog · 12/10/2004 13:44

are u sure u r not suffering from depression, that makes u feel exhausted.

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:45

I had depression after DD1 and I feel fine in that area now, but soooooooooo tired

OP posts:
Lesle · 12/10/2004 13:46

that reminded me, a friend of mine also had similar symptoms and hers turned out to be an underactive thyroid which was triggered by her pregnancy but didn't show until her DD was about 6 months. she was referred to a specialist by her Dr and has been having treatment and is much better now.

mieow · 12/10/2004 13:46

Marina · 12/10/2004 13:49

Good luck mieow - it sounds quite like thyroid problems to me - don't let them fob you off without taking a blood test. Hope it goes OK.

Nome · 12/10/2004 15:13

I went to the doctor about being sooo tired a couple of weeks ago. I thought tests would show anemia or thyroid, but they came back with a liver virus! I was really 'glad' because I was beginning to think I was imagining how tired I am! It's good to have a reason for it, though I had no idea I had a liver virus - it's not exactly the first thing you think of. Maybe you have something like this? I am as tired as I was when ds was first born, or those early weeks of pg where you can barely put one foot in front of the other. It's worth getting your gp to run some tests anyway. It's miserable being tired, and not normal.

mieow · 12/10/2004 15:58

The flipping doctors are shut!!!!!!!! I will phone tomorrow
