DS is 6 months old and last tuesday underwent an operation to finally free him of his stoma.

24 hours after surgery he was on milk and 48 hours after surgery he was on solids.

4 days after surgery he was allowed home .

He is now pooing out of his bottom which is novelty for us and its so nice waking uing the night to the smell of "poo" and not of a burst stoma bag. His bum looks like a baboons and is very very sore BUT know what................................................................................................ ...............................................................he's still so happy and smiley and fixed and most of all hes ours. .

Sorry,no replies needed BUT just wanted to shout out how proud of him we are.

shocked at the replies.! Thanks everyone. Yes he is such a brave little boy. He has been through so much in his litle life, including x3 operations and has bounced back each time.

Its been hard for him as well as dh & I and there have been days when things seemed unbearable but we had to stay positive for him. The stoma was one of the worse things I have ever experienced but it saved his life which I am grateful for.

Living at hospital for a week for 20 hours aday and not being able to see dh & dh for long period of time was hard,as well as sheeping in a chair next to his bed but suppose life has a way of putting things into prospective and you realise how precious life is.

yes, taffy it is scary when lo's are so ill. He was admitted to our local childrens hospital at 3 days old...That was scary and as a mother or indeed a parent you feel so helpless. I can't forget the feeling..........estatic that my ds was here yet so very sad and scared that he was so ill. I remember feeling like I was the lo who needed looking after..

I took great strength in thinking:
He (him upstairs )only does things to us in life that he knows we can cope with. He obviously knew that we were a strong enough family to deal with ds illness.
