Ds (12) has just lost an adult tooth 😭
He was chewing a toffee and it ripped his tooth out. Definitely one of his adult teeth, not at the front thankfully.
Our dentist is closed - answerphone says to ring 111 in an emergency but can't get through.
I've give him calpol for the pain but is there anything I can do or will he just have an awful gap now? Feel distraught (sorry I know there is far worse going on with Coronavirus.)

Phew!! I love Mumsnet, thank you all so much!
I think because it looked big with a crinkly edge I thought it must be an adult tooth - had nightmares about lectures from the dentist about ds's teeth (he's good about looking after his teeth normally)

Panic over! Thank you all again xx

Glad you are both OK now OP.

My dental student Dd says its an easy mistake to make, because the back child molar looks very similar to an adult first molar on bottom because it has the “crinkly edge” on the cheek side of the tooth.

It’s the only one with three bumps in the cheek side.

Hope I’ve got that correct @Mrsmorton

@I0NA your dd is in a much better place than me to comment on the anatomy!! I've brain dumped facts like that and am running on (slightly dated) experience now.

Hope she's doing well. It's still a great profession with many fascinating jobs.

Thank you, I’ll PM you as you kindly gave her some good advice about 18 months ago.
