Advice wanted (gross) picture attached!

Wondered if there was anyone around for a bit of advice.

I accidentally spilt boiling water on it last night (dam chocolate egg nests 😭) and it has blistered up quite badly and was very sore...thankfully not so much now!

I’m not particularly wanting to go to minor injuries for obvious reasons, though will if have to and wondered (and hoping) can treat at home, just for today.

Advice online quite conflicting, some sites saying burst blister with sterilised needle, other saying leave, vasoline and bandage, keep dry, wash with warm soapy water...

Ironically the reason I misjudged the sink and spilt on foot was DH and DC were watching a film and I didn’t want the kitchen light glare to ruin so I was trying bake with just the fairy light on...serves me right for being kind.

Wahh feeling very sorry for myself! 😭

What would everyone recommend?

Go to minor injuries

MrsMozartMkII · 12/04/2020 09:03

I had a bad scald to my hand. Wrapped it in clingfilm.

slipperywhensparticus · 12/04/2020 09:04

Ring minor injuries

And dont burst it because it fucking hurts

whodunit3 · 12/04/2020 09:05

@slipperywhensparticus

I have tried and can’t get through!

Definitely a trip to minor injuries. I did something almost identical to my hand and they gave it a proper dressing and examined it. I needed to have the dressing changed a few times. They can get infected and scar if you’re not careful.

Wilmalovescake · 12/04/2020 09:10

I think that needs to be seen and dressed properly.

Palavah · 12/04/2020 09:11

Agree - ring 111/minor injuries. Do not burst it. The blister is your body's way of protecting the new skin.
Stick to flip flops.
And get some burn-eze for your home first aid kit.

Burns like this aren't fun - you might have had mild shock. Don't beat yourself up.

You can put it in a basin/bucket of cold water to soothe but obv. don't run the tap onto the blister

homemadecommunistrussia · 12/04/2020 09:16

That needs to be looked at. Ouch you poor thing.
Have you taken some painkillers?

Seeline · 12/04/2020 09:16

Blister bigger than 50p piece needs medical attention.
Do not burst it.
Do NOT put vaseline on it!!

Wrap your foot in cling film. You can keep dunking it in clean, cold water to help with pain.

whodunit3 · 12/04/2020 09:16

@Palavah

It’s funny you should say that as I have felt really cold and shivery and just not right since I done it!

Thought just a coincidence!!

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2020 09:21

I spilt scalding gravy on my ankle once. I looked like yours although I left it and it burst.

Within a day I was in A and E with a nasty infection 'tracking' up my leg.

Glad you are going to get that looked at, hope your Easter Day improves for you and your Dc

Handbaghag · 12/04/2020 09:33

Hope you're ok and manage to see someone. Please update 🙂

Huntmychicken · 12/04/2020 09:48

Agh I’ve done this before! Fucking hurts doesn’t it! I had to drive home for over an hour with a piece of cling film over it. Went to walk in centre and they drained it and dressed it. If you’re able to sterilise a needle and have sterile dressings etc, I’d maybe do it yourself? Wouldn’t ordinarily suggest that, but a medical setting is the last place I’d fancy being right now! I went back every couple of days for it to be the-dressed

CornishPorsche · 12/04/2020 09:56

That's a big burn, it definitely needs to be seen by a medical professional.

homemadecommunistrussia · 12/04/2020 10:03

Please don't try and do anything to it yourself.

Thescrewinthetuna · 12/04/2020 10:06

That’s a large burn defo go get it seen! Please update after. You poor thing Flowers

whodunit3 · 12/04/2020 10:08

DodgeRainClouds · 12/04/2020 10:15

Hope you are ok. That looks so sure!

rosieposies · 12/04/2020 10:31

Bless you! I think burns are up there with the worse type of pain. Hope you're not waiting too long, and don't worry about the kids I'm sure it'll be forgotten about by and they'll be stuffing their face with chocolate in no time

slipperywhensparticus · 12/04/2020 12:23

Aww your not the worst mom in the world accidents happen

My ex husband burnt his hand and his foot the same day our son was christened his mom spoilt the day screaming freaking out saying we needed to call 999 go to A&E going utterly MENTAL apparently I wasnt helpful by pointing out he saw a very qualified nurse (my aunt) and two doctors (my cousins) who all agreed it would be fine gave him some advice on self care he wore sandles and cracked on with the day but even his injuries didnt look as bad as yours

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

homemadecommunistrussia · 12/04/2020 15:48

I hope you are doing better this afternoon?
I was admitted to hospital on the day of one of my dc's birthdays, so can sympathise with the stupid mum guilt. This lovely nurse was patting my hand and consoling me as I cried over not being able to bake a cake! Have daft is that?

lostfrequencies · 12/04/2020 15:56

Ouch OP! How are you now?
