Anyone free to have a look at a picture of my foot?

Pain in my foot since early hours Monday morning, it’s getting worse with driving and walking. I haven’t knocked it or fallen etc.

Fit and healthy, no medical conditions like diabetes.

I’ve scribbled out my un painted toe nails to save you all from seeing them.

What is going on with my foot?

I'd plan to try to see someone at a walk in centre tomorrow if it's no better - and sooner if it gets noticeably worse.

tbh, the look of it makes me think of cellulitis. Can be caused by cut you didn't even notice. I wouldn't think that it's something that bad if it doesn't get worse. But something is happening. Don't ignore if it gets worse.

Let us know what happens?

Go to minor injuries department or out of hours GP, despite no obvious trauma. I know someone who managed a 'slow'ankle sprain through sitting awkwardly in the car on a long journry. Too many possibilities and better to see someone QUALIFIED and face to face rather than some randomer who's halfway down a bottle of wine on mumsnet! (No offence to anyone who IS on their second glass obvs.)

I had bruising like that in a line when I sprained my ankle - although that pain was really severe from the start. It does look swollen below the ankle which would be right for a sprain

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 29/05/2019 21:09

Oh, I will go and get checked out tomorrow with our GP, I’m getting messages from friends saying go now so I thought I’d ask your opinion.

No harm whilst I wait. It’s not sore, very hot and a bit numb, my knee is tingling but I think that’s because I went to work and drove for an hour there and back.

I will let you know how I get on, very strange!

I had bruising like this when I ruptured my Achilles.

Wolfiefan · 29/05/2019 21:11

Ouch. That looks very swollen as well as the bruising. Can someone take you tomorrow? Maybe you shouldn’t be driving. Flowers

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 29/05/2019 21:13

Off to google Achilles...

I did partake in a few cocktails on Sunday evening which resulted in a wobbly short walk home in heels, thankfully DH was around to “help” me home so to speak, how embarrassing!

Phone the non emergency line? Maybe they can get you an appointment with the OOH doctor.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 29/05/2019 21:14

Same, my bruise was exactly like that when I sprained it.

Polkadotdelight · 29/05/2019 21:16

Do get this looked at tomorrow like you have said. I injured my ankle 4 years ago and had very similar swelling although more bruising and I didn't seek medical advice. To be fair I had a small baby and everyone was working full time, I couldn't face having to deal with a taxi and the car seat so I hobbled around for a very long time. Four years on and my ankle is throbbing and aching every evening. I regret not getting it properly treated now!

Nottheduchess · 29/05/2019 21:17

Maybe you went over on your ankle on your wobbly walk home. You may have been alcoholically medicated enough not to feel the pain when you did it, but seeing as it started hurting early hours Monday morning (at the wearing off of the alcohol) then it’s a good possibility.

flugelhorn81 · 29/05/2019 21:17

Yep, I agree, it looks very like a sprain but I think you'd know if you'd sprained it? How weird. I'd definitely get it seen to ASAP.

Em3978 · 29/05/2019 21:23

Its certainly bruising like a bad sprain or torn tendon or two. I'd get it looked at sooner rather than later.

youarenotkiddingme · 29/05/2019 21:23

The mine of bruising along bottom of foot is very common in sprain.

Likely when you were drunk!

One night my friend went over in her heeled boots on our way back from a few.
Got home, took them off, went to bed. Woke up swollen.
She's broken it Shock

Violetroselily · 29/05/2019 21:23

Ouch that looks sore. No suggestions but hope its nothing too serious Flowers

PavlovaFaith · 29/05/2019 21:28

Mine looked exactly like this when I went over on it in a hockey match. It was torn/sprained ligaments and needed infrared treatment for months!

MatchSetPoint · 29/05/2019 21:29

Could it be gout? My Dad suffers on and off with gout, looks a bit swollen and he says it’s painful.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 29/05/2019 21:31

If it’s just swollen do I need to do anything more than rest up tomorrow, it’s too late for Ice now isn’t it?

When you are saying have it look at even if a sprain, is that GP tomorrow as first call?

Thank you for helping someone who is definitely old enough not to be falling on her heels after a night out but also old enough to not get enough nights out which means she ends up wobbling around on her heels after a night out... (mortified)

Gout would not cause bruising

OneFootintheRave · 29/05/2019 21:38

Os Trigonum. A "nutcracker" injury. Google it. I had this.

I was lying happily in bed one minute, the next minute, utter agony from nowhere. Hospital did not have a clue and maybe thought I was being dramatic as there was nothing to see. A day or two later the foot was black and blue. I was seeing a orthopaedic surgeon a few days later for another matter and he diagnosed it. Self limiting in the end.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 29/05/2019 21:42

Are you all healed now?

OP posts:
OneFootintheRave · 29/05/2019 21:52

I was on crutches for 2 days then once I knew nothing was broken (scan) I started putting weight on it and it was normal in about a week. Just waiting for it to happen in the other ankle now Smile

The pain at the time was unreal. 3 tramádol didn't even take the edge off it. You should get it checked though.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 29/05/2019 21:58

I will, it’s not painful all the time though, bit concerned about the heat and numbness though.

Thanks all

This was my ankle the day after I sprained it. Hot, tingly then blue/black. I was on crutches for a week. I slipped off a scooter Blush

ExCwmbranDweller · 29/05/2019 22:04

If you aren't going to see anyone tonight then elevate it, there's quite a lot of swelling there. Ice good for inflammation even if it's not straight after injury, make sure you put fabric between ice and foot though. Ibuprofen perhaps to help with inflammation (and pain) but protect your stomach with some food.
