I've been referred for these.

I know what it is, a camera up into my womb etc.
Anything I might not think of to warn me about?

When I had mine done under GA the hospital actually phoned me twice at home on landline to make sure that someone was with me and that I was ok. Your care coordinator may be willing to stay with you. Or perhaps you could hire a nurse if that is financially viable.

I'm actually not sure whether I've ever had a GA. I think I've just had sedation tbh?

As for the poster asking why someone would have a GA - I was asked whether I wanted one.

Ingurr, Unfortunately no, that would not be financially viable.

They’ve been really strict with me about having someone at home before discharge and actually asked to see DP once to check he agreed to be there. It might depend on trust/hospital perhaps.

I wasn’t offered an anaesthetic when I had mine done. I had two polyps removed. It wasn’t as awful as I’d expected and the doctor told me to tell her to stop at any time if I was finding it too much and if I couldn’t cope they could reschedule it with a GA. it did cramp like bad period pains a few times but I had no pain or bleeding afterwards. I have a very low pain threshold indeed but found it entirely do-able.

I had a rigid cystoscopy with GA and as I live on my own ended up staying in overnight. I really didn’t want to but thought what if I have a reaction to the anaesthetic and pass out during the night or something and just went with the overnight stay. Got zero sleep as expected but it was only for the one night.

I got the results of the biopsy 2 or 3 weeks after the procedure (can’t quite remember)

My procedure under GA took 30 minutes and access was difficult due to closed cervix. Consultant said GA absolutely right as would not have been tolerable awake
Results confirming non malignant polyp took 4 wks.

I’ve had someone pick me up, just say they’re staying overnight and drop me home. Much easier as I only wanted to sleep anyway!
