AAARRGGGHH.

So bloody painful.

All 4 out under general - refused to have them out in the chair and good job too because the surgeon told me they were really difficult to remove.

Carmenere · 05/07/2007 21:51

Have them out TE. It is really not painful these days. They gave me some kind of med that made me forget all the tugging and pain. I had no memory of any stress or pain and the nurses said I told them that I felt like I had smoked three joints

tiredemma · 05/07/2007 21:53

going to have to get them out. agony.

I had 2 out and the shock of it has made me just try and live with the other 2 'til they give me trouble or pain. Have you got an appointment yet?

Washersaurus · 05/07/2007 21:56

Ooooh the memory haunts me - I was persuaded to have mine out under local anaesthetic and which didn't work properly so they had to keep injecting me. And I can still remember the crunching sound as they twisted and pulled at the top tooth out.

When I got home I was all dribbly, had that horrible metallic taste in my mouth and bad breath for ages. And for months afterwards the holes left behind in my gums kept trapping bits of food

I honestly preferred giving birth to the wisdom teeth removal experience....

Washersaurus · 05/07/2007 21:58

I must add though, I HAD to have mine removed as they were giving me so much pain; I just wish I had stuck to my guns about having the General rather than the Local

jangly · 05/07/2007 21:58

Well, that's helped a lot Washersaurus!

Piffle · 05/07/2007 21:59

had one flare up, dentist took out all 3 under a general
3 days off work, bruised eating a chose but best thing I ever did

NoodleStroodle · 05/07/2007 22:00

Had mine out in the chair - yes it hurt but then I stopped being grumpy and they had been making grumpy for years! As good as having my tonsils removed.

JoMa · 05/07/2007 22:00

I had one out under local and it was absolutely fine

Tutter · 05/07/2007 22:00

mine out all at once under g/a

went like adream

was eating a sarnie within minutes of coming round from the op

no bruising, no swelling

jangly · 05/07/2007 22:00

I can honestly say when I've had wisdom teeth out it was with local anaesthetic and they came out really easily. Dentist said they don't have much root being so far back.

MrsCarrot · 05/07/2007 22:00

had all mine out under local, practically drank a bottle of rescure remedy but it was fine. Have you had a section? It's a bit like that, you can feel the tugging but no pain.

JodieG1 · 05/07/2007 22:04

My dh had his out years ago, he had slight pain but really swollen, took a few days to go down.

smurfgirl · 05/07/2007 22:06

I had all 4 out under a G.A was not very pleasant afterwards due to infection, but better to have the pain gone.

Washersaurus · 05/07/2007 22:09

I didn't mean to put you off; really if they need to come out, they need to come out.

Go with what everyone else says, I knew my bad experience was a rare case! My sister had hers out without any probs too (except the holey gums catching food pieces that is)

BikeBug · 05/07/2007 22:10

I only had the one and it was agony - came in sideways or something odd - anwyay, had it removed under local at the dentists. Charming and lovely dentist (Iranian, I think, very strong accent) told me not to worry, it would 'only be slightly terrible'. It wasn't terrible at all - a bit of tugging then it was out. I did decline his offer of a look at it though...
