Tiredemma - I've had all of mine out (not all done at same time) - all done in the dentist's chair. I'm a total WUSS when it comes to dentistry ( I used to routinely cry with fear )but I have to admit that it really wasn't bad. Tell them you're a bit nervous, make sure the anaesthtic has REALLY kicked in before he/she starts and you'll feel so much better afterwards. The worst bit was actually the sound of it, as some other people have mentioned. Hope you can get an appointment soon - toothache is horrible!

ProjectIcarus · 05/07/2007 23:37

all out in a onner under general no bruising went fine afterwards, No issues at all actually.

Bloody painful before though. I think I took anti inflammatories and paramol.

mylastrolo · 05/07/2007 23:39

lowers out under iv sedation no problems thankfully.

francagoestohollywood · 05/07/2007 23:42

I had them all out under general as well. No problem whatsoever. But I was 22 back then...

TheDuchessOfNorks · 05/07/2007 23:53

I had all four (2 visits) Wisdom teeth out with a local anaesthetic in the chair. The injections aren't very nice but there is no pain involved in the actual removal.

They do bleed a lot afterwards - you'll need something to spit into if you're going straight home.

It was great having it done. I haven't had a dental abcess since (thank the Lord because they hurt much worse than childbirth).

tiredemma · 06/07/2007 07:15

Oh Gosh- feel worse now with these 'food in gum' scenarios!!!!

Had a terrible night. I really do feel like just sitting here crying, so painful. It must be pressing against my left molar as that side feels awful and tender.

Ds has his summer fete today where he is dressing like an Australian and singing etc in school concert, I promised him I would go - he just told me to "get some rest and make your teeth better mummy".
Will just dose up on painkillers and try and get there.

Going to find some courage later and phone dentist.

argh!

ring the dentist NOW, I know the idea of seeing a dentist when in you are in pain is just horrible, but I've learnt from experience that it's better not to lose a single day. I send you some strenght

The top wisdoms aren't so bad. I had one out a couple of weeks ago in the chair and didn't feel any pain. Well, apart from the anesthetic injection. I'm getting the other top one out next week and not even thinking about it.
The sorest part is when you try to have a cuppa too soon after, your lips don't work properly and you dribble hot tea down your front.

LoveMyGirls · 06/07/2007 12:03

I had mine done a week ago yesterday and now i'm ok but i have to admit there are times this week when its been hell and i have moaned. I reccomend a week off work and stocking up on the strongest painkillers you can!

tiredemma · 06/07/2007 12:05

I really cannot have them out yet- Im on placement at the moment and cannot have any time off. Nearest possible time would be mid august!!!!

My mentor gave me the strongest painkillers ever yesterday so I am living on those.

In all honesty though- im more scared of the pain of having them removed than anything else

Hell yes, get them out. I had one causing me grief, was given tablets to ease the pain but wan't allowed to drink with them which was no good as vino numbed the pain. Anyway, went into hospital to have it taken out under general anaesthetic and woke up to find they had dug another two out as well-they hadn't even broken through. Best thing that ever happened to me (well, sort of) had a week off work and with plenty of painkillers I was fine after a couple of weeks.

Make that appointment now!!!!!!!!!

tiredemma -I am a complete wuss when it comes to dentists yet I had a wisdom tooth out in the chair with just a local on Tuesday.

I had a few drops of Rescue Remedy before going in to stop me shaking (at that point I didn't even know he was going to take it out).

When he said he could take it out there and then I must have gone as white as a sheet. I agreed, otherwise I would have been petrified and not slept until the appt. He gave me about 3 injections and I honestly did not feel a thing, in fact I was waiting for him to start and he'd already taken it out.

Its been fine since, bit of jaw ache on Weds but that was all.

OrmIrian · 06/07/2007 12:21

I haven't had mine removed although I did have repeated problems with them at one stage. The dentist told me that it wasn't essential unless I wanted to. My problem was that they kept pushing up against the gum and breaking through and getting infected. Cause me pain and then go back down again. Dentist told me to swill my mouth out with salty water to help with the infection. It always worked and cleared up after a few days.
