Hello everyone,

Welcome to the new thread. Our previous one is here.

Anyone with any cancer is welcome, or anyone waiting for tests because they might have cancer. If you're new, just jump in wherever. Don't feel you need to catch up with previous posts. We talk a lot! Ask any questions you need to. Someone will hopefully have an answer. And feel free to post photos of cute pets too.

Whether you're new or not, it's helpful to post a little introduction on the new thread to save people trying to remember everyone's different diagnosis and treatment.

Shit shit shit. I've just received an appt for Tues in the post to get the results of my scans. In the past, the BCN has called to say everything is clear, so I'm assuming that this is going to be bad news. I've called her and left a message, as if it is back, I'd rather know so I can go to pieces at home rather than in the hospital.

Glad you're ok @KeepCalm and hope @Pandora is recovering well too.

TwitterQueen1 · 18/01/2019 10:39

Sorry you've got this awful wait and worry FLippy. Will the BCN be able to tell you anything though? Or will you need to wait for the consultant?

FlippyNeck · 18/01/2019 10:41

Thanks for replying TQ. I don't know what she'll be able to say, but I can ask. Fuuuuuuuck.

Fluffysunshinepants · 18/01/2019 11:01

Flippy everything crossed for positive news xx

Toofaroutallmylife · 18/01/2019 11:28

Oh Flippy that’s horrid - the waiting and wondering are so hard. Hope you get some answers soon, and that they’re good ones.

peapod66 · 18/01/2019 11:59

Flippy thinking of you and hoping you get some answers ASAP as the waiting is just terrible.

peapod66 · 18/01/2019 12:03

Also thinking of Miri's wife and ds - I remember very clearly her love and concerns for her young family when she came on here again before Christmas. ThanksThanks

Mrstraveller · 18/01/2019 12:20

Flippy Neck

Every sympathy with this as I hate getting letters in the post for appointments. They always seem to land on the mat later in the week or if it's me a Saturday morning when you can't do anything about it if you have any questions.

Hope you get some answers and it is not what you are thinking at the moment....

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 18/01/2019 12:40

Flippyneck it sounds like maybe you have a different system but my team won’t give me any scan results- good, bad or indifferent over the phone. So maybe yours has changed its policy?

HATE getting those letters

FlippyNeck · 18/01/2019 12:43

Thanks Lacies. I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster - I almost forgot how awful the uncertainty can be. Namechange, I hope you're right - BCN said I'd get a clinic appointment letter sent out when they had the results, but didn't mention a change of policy. I wish that letter had arrived on Monday and not today!

TwitterQueen1 · 18/01/2019 13:24

I'm going up again on Monday and hopefully they will restart me on the trial on Tuesday

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 18/01/2019 13:57

Flippy I used to love a good rollercoaster but I definitely do not care for the rollercoaster of cancer!

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 18/01/2019 13:57

TQ I really hope they do

FlippyNeck · 18/01/2019 14:18

Fingers crossed for you TQ.

I've just spoken to the BCN and my bone scan is clear! I can't quite believe it, I was completely expecting to hear the worst. The CT results aren't back yet, but they want to see me anyway due to ongoing pain and symptoms. There should be a ban on letters arriving just before the weekend.

@Namechange, I too love rollercoasters, just not this one!

Thank you lacies, for putting up with my what now seems like paranoid wittering xx

Toofaroutallmylife · 18/01/2019 14:31

Flippy - yay! And please don’t apologise for wittering - if we couldn’t witter here, life would be a lot harder! Flowers

peapod66 · 18/01/2019 14:33

So pleased to hear that flippy! Your experience is also a good lesson to me about trying not to read too much into things. Really good that you got the news before the weekend too - well done for persevering!

Very best of luck for Monday/Tuesday TQ.

Sending thoughts for your recovery to those who have just had op and also waving to all.

Leslie and purple thinking of you and hoping you are having a reasonable day. Any sign of that escape purple?

peapod66 · 18/01/2019 14:34

*ops

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 18/01/2019 14:39

Doing a little dance for Flippy (in my head so as to avoid scaring anyone in the office)

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 18/01/2019 15:08

Glitterball Flippy what a morning you've had! And what a relief about your bones. It's good they're taking your pain seriously though Flowers

likeazebra lovely to hear from you, but I'm sorry you have to have yet more tests!

I'm really grumpy today - a combination of pain from my adhesions and frustration at being stuck in the same room seeing the same people. And people pestering me or asking inane questions Angry

OP posts:
purpleunicorns · 18/01/2019 15:29

Good to hear from you Zebra although I hope your bulky uterus is nothing no worry about Thanks

I'm pleased everyone's operations went well. Make sure you take your painkillers at the times your supposed to even if you don't feel like you're in pain at the time! Better to preempt it that wait until it's hurting

What a relief Flippy! You can relax now

Aw Leslie I wish we could do something to help. We could come and kidnap you but it's freezing outside and knowing me I'd probably end up giving you another chest infection

I'm so close to being home just waiting for my bag of medications. No idea why it takes the pharmacist ALL DAY to sort them out Angry

Mrstraveller · 18/01/2019 16:39

Relieved for you Flippy

Sorry to hear you are feeling frustrated Leslie. Inane questions not good when you are feeling like that.

Purple. Hope you’ve left for home now. I had the same problem on Monday. Was stuck for hours waiting for a Dr to do a prescription.

We’ve just had a bit of snow here.

likeazebra · 18/01/2019 17:08

Sorry you feel grumpy Leslie although it is understandable. I hope you feel more yourself quickly.

Hope you are now home Purple and getting some rest, the transition from hospital to home can be a tiring one even when you are looking forward to it.

We've had snow here too although it hasn't settled on the ground even though it was quite heavy.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 18/01/2019 18:34

purple I hope you are home now! Flowers it's so infuriating when you are stuck there for no real reason.

Mrstraveller enjoy your snow, if you're someone who likes snow, and I hope it melts quickly if not Grin

likeazebra I am feeling much more myself now, thank you :)

I have had quite a productive afternoon sorting things out. I like sorting.

Touch wood, my cough is better today. It seems to be at least partly caused by post-nasal drip (yuck yuck yuck). Also my adhesion pain is improving. Tomorrow I think I might try to go to the kitchen! Luckily my wheelchair fits through all the doors. It would be nice to have a change of scenery Grin

OP posts:
likeazebra · 18/01/2019 19:18

Fingers crossed for your trip to the kitchen Leslie and I'm really pleased you are feeling more yourself.

FlippyNeck · 18/01/2019 20:53

Thanks again lacies. @Toofar - yep, our safe place for wittering. @Namechange, can I request YMCA in your office please?

@Purple, hope you got home ok. When DP was in and out of hospital, if he didn't need any of the meds immediately, we'd leave and then go back to pick them up later. I have to get meds every 4 weeks from the hospital pharmacy at the moment, my onc prescribes after my appt, but he's made sure that I have an extra few days in reserve so I can pick them up a day or two later.

Glad you're feeling less grumpy @Leslie.

@likeazebra, hope your tests next week go smoothly and don't throw up anything sinister. Sympathies to a fellow owner of a bulky uterus (I've got fibroids, and the feckers don't seem to be in a hurry to shrink despite 2 years of zoladex and an oophorectomy - I was oddly impressed when the gynae told me the biggest was equivalent to a 16 week pregnancy). I'm not porky, it's just my bulky uterus...
