Hello everyone,

Welcome to the new thread. Our previous one is here.

Anyone with any cancer is welcome, or anyone waiting for tests because they might have cancer. If you're new, just jump in wherever. Don't feel you need to catch up with previous posts. We talk a lot! Ask any questions you need to. Someone will hopefully have an answer. And feel free to post photos of cute pets too.

Whether you're new or not, it's helpful to post a little introduction on the new thread to save people trying to remember everyone's different diagnosis and treatment.

Hello everyone.
Just popping in with good wishes for Mrst tomorrow Thanks

purpleunicorns · 13/01/2019 14:56

Best of luck for tomorrow MrsT, not that you'll need it Thanks

I'm still stuck in a isolation room feeling sorry for myself Grin apparently doctors don't work weekends so I have no idea what's happening. I feel a lot better so hopefully I'll be home at some point next week. It was only a weeks worth of antibiotics they put me on and I'm halfway through them

I'm really craving melted cheese on toast and it's not something I can get my DH to bring through as the hospital is half an hour away 😩

Mrstraveller · 13/01/2019 15:46

Thanks for all the good wishes. Will let you all know when I’m back out minus left boob and a set of lymph nodes. Also best wishes to Keep Calm and Pandora who have ops this week I think. Will be thinking of you. Xx

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 13/01/2019 17:21

Loving the exit plan @Mrstraveller and totally let us know how you are. Thanks
Good idea about the old shoes. I reckon I've got some croc type sandals that have seen better days. I won't be binning my dressing gown, it was the slippers I was referring to after the thread about the state of some of the toilets! I love my slippers so some cheap ones or old nearly walking to the bin by themselves shoes sound like the way forward!
Hope everyone's had an ok Sunday. I had DHs family for lunch, not literally I wasn't that hungry!

Mrstraveller · 13/01/2019 18:19

I’m glad I read your post ranout as I’d forgotten to pack a dressing gown!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 13/01/2019 18:55

@Mrstraveller glad I could be of some use!
I don't know if I mentioned on here but for each chemo session I had a new outfit! Blushthey were predictably very "me" lots of animal print and faux leather! I've managed to track down an animal print dressing gown! It's got to be done! Grin

peridito · 13/01/2019 19:54

*@purpleunicorns I'm thinking reuseable toaster bags and a toaster might work.....

got to be some benefit to being in isolation......

Does your hospital café do toasties purple? Not quite the same, but might satisfy the melted cheese craving. It's so frustrating when you have a really specific craving.

I hope you manage to sleep tonight Mrstraveller. Though at least you'll get a nice snooze during your op :)

ranout that sounds perfect Glitterball

Waving to wombat and peridito

I've finished my crochet project. Now back to the grindstone knitting scarves...

Mrstraveller best of luck tomorrow FlowersBear

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 13/01/2019 22:21

Rosies that is beautiful. So beautiful.

MrsT thinking of you and sending lots of hugs. Any fit surgeons let me know and I’ll be there with grapes and stuff... Grin

Mrstraveller · 13/01/2019 22:36

Ha ha. Will keep my eye out for any good-looking doctors. Knowing my luck it will be the anaesthetist and I’ll have a couple of seconds to gaze into his eyes before falling asleep.

That is a very lovely blanket RosiesMummy

KeepCalm · 14/01/2019 05:59

Good luck today @Mrstraveller 💜

Simmi1 · 14/01/2019 06:05

Good luck Mrs Traveller Star

peapod66 · 14/01/2019 08:31

Good Luck Mrs Traveller (and to Keep Calm and Pandora for later in the week).

Also really good to hear you are feeling better Purple so fingers crossed that they will let you out soon

Glitterball to all for the week ahead

peapod66 · 14/01/2019 09:33

I had an ultrasound over the weekend to try and get to the bottom of the right-sided pain and gas I have had since October.

Glad to find no Tamoxifen-induced liver or uterus problems but a bit disappointed not to have isolated a cause as could have been something relatively straightforward like gallstones (but none found).

Off to GP on Friday to assess results of that and stool and blood tests and establish next steps.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 14/01/2019 10:07

Good luck @Mrstraveller looking forward to hearing your update.
Hope they sort you out soon @peapod66
Waves to everyone else.

peapod66 · 14/01/2019 10:30

Thanks ranout. I am assuming that it will ultimately be explained away as IBS or similar but important to check it out as hasn't gone away over months. I think it was flippy who talked about that nagging uncertainty when something else crops up following previous diagnosis/treatment.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/01/2019 13:24

Thinking of you Mrstraveller Flowers

Rosiesmummy that's lovely :)

peapod sorry you still don't have any answers. I hope your GP is helpful, and good luck with the other tests.

Waving to everyone.

Had to go up to Oxford this pm because I have 'hand and foot', which apparently is very rare. Humph. It's basically bad neuropathy - pins & needles, feeling like my fingers were going to blister, sore, red swollen areas, very dry, skin peeling....

So I need to take a drug holiday for a week and see what my hands are like then. Best case scenario is a reduction in the dose. Or there is a possibility it may be a hangover from previous chemo. We shall see.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/01/2019 19:52

Huge sympathies Flowers I had that with my first chemo regime TQ. I tried all sorts of moisturisers, and the best I found was Neutrogena deep moisture comfort balm. It's very soothing. I started using it again recently as my feet were a bit tingly from the Lonsurf, but thankfully it didn't get anywhere near as bad.

Oh god, that sounds painful TQ does this mean your next round of chemo will be postponed?
Flexitol or sudacreme may help too if there are any cracks in your hands/feet.
All you need after suffering with the manky toes already. Flowers

Will catch up to tomorrow properly but wanted to let you know that I have just got home after being at the hospital for 7 am.

It’s been a weird day; early on it looked like the whole day case list would be cancelled due to staffing issues. It did go ahead but then there was a huge delay with discharge for the 2 breast surgery patients who could go home (me included). There were another 2 patients who they decided needed to stay in. Due to lack of beds elsewhere we were on an orthopaedic ward!

Anyway to cut a long story short - left breast and lymph nodes are gone.
