Tried the hot flannel in a mug trick (feels great) but the pain comes back as soon as it cools :(

Anyone else have any home remedies? I can't even hear out the eat- it's so blocked up😩

Anything anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or aspirin might give you a bit of relief.

Flowers earache is such a horrible pain.

witchmountain · 07/12/2018 21:48

And sleep!

notapizzaeater · 07/12/2018 21:56

Anti histamine to reduce the fluid in ears

adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:03

TeaTree oil on a cotton bud - you can dilute it if it stings with a bit of water. I had a horrendous abscess in my ear years ago and have always been scared of getting another one so st the first of earache I use teatree oil. It's antiseptic and anti inflammatory too.

notapizzaeater · 07/12/2018 22:18

Any, zirtek, Piriton ?

Can you pop a post on Facebook asking anyone local to you ?

adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:18

@iwonderwhen great thanks! I'll get some tea tree oil tomorrow in town :) can I do a few drops in my ear- would that work?

OP posts:
adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:19

@notapizzaeater I don't have any unfortunately but I'll pick up some tomorrow- don't really have anyone I can ask to get some.

Lay affected ear onto a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.

Ear infections suck. You have my sympathy

brusselsprout5 · 07/12/2018 22:22

Olive oil in ear. Not the cooking kind, the pharmacy kind though. Or almond oil. My eardrums get chapped like my lips. I oil them weekly in winter otherwise I'd always get earache. Good luck.

mineofuselessinformation · 07/12/2018 22:23

Ummmm, can I be outrageous and suggest you see your GP or go to out of hours doctor?

JuniperBeer · 07/12/2018 22:23

Skip the olive oil if you’ve got an infection. Buy some “ear calm” from the pharmacy. Little spray

iwonderwhen · 07/12/2018 22:26

@adoggymum glad to help. Yes you can - or even put it on your fingertip and rub around your ear - it's not so precise, tho.

I once started to get a similar earache to when I had the abscess and made a gp appt for later that day and I put some teatree oil in and by the time I got to the doc my pain had gone! The doc could see the traces of inflammation when he examined me but agreed it had cleared up. I use tt oil for loads of things

adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:26

@JuniperBeer I've actually got the ear calm and been using it the last 2 days, 3 times a day. No difference :(

@iwonderwhen thank you! That sounds promising- I can't wait to get some tomorrow!😃

Mumshappy · 07/12/2018 22:29

Rub vicks vapour rub all around the outer ear

adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:29

@mineofuselessinformation I rang 111 earlier (but extreme I know) and they said to get a a doctors appointment Monday. My doctors is notoriously bad for appointments- I tried all week last week (for a different issue) to see my GP or even any one and I never got an appointment! 😫

OP posts:
adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:29

@Mumshappy another thing I don't have :( thank you for the suggestion though! x

If you have a walk in centre, you could try there - maybe quicker than waiting to get a doc’t appt.

adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:36

@letsdolunch321 Mine closed at 8- I rang it at seven and they said I definitely wouldn't get seen before they close.

I'm going to pop in there tomorrow at various times to see if there's a shorter looking wait. I've been up there before nearly all day for a UTI and it was brutal!

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 07/12/2018 22:38

Don’t faff about with it. Definitely don’t put cotton buds in it.

Best thing is strongest painkillers you can. Hopefully you can get a gp appointment ASAP.

Flowers Ear pain is horrible.

adoggymum · 07/12/2018 22:42

@PurpleDaisies thank you, it is so awful! I've felt like crying all evening😂😫 xx
