How long would you expect a rash from an allergic reaction to last?

So on Sunday I developed an all over body rash. Nurse said it was an allergic reaction. Still have rash though and now vomiting and diarrhoea. Is it definitely an allergic reaction would you think? Antihistamines appear to be having no effect on it, though the rash has changed from little pin pricks to more of an all over blotchy rash.
Feeling very peed off. Too late to try to get a GP appointment today, but will try to get one tomorrow I guess.

Perhaps a viral rash instead as you've now got D&V?

Zulor · 04/12/2018 22:31

Maybe, hadn't thought of that. I'll try to get a GP appointment tomorrow. I seem like a permanent fixture there these days.

Would not advise going to the GP with D&V, you're contagious. The 48 hour rule applies here. Perhaps a call over the phone? Obviously if you're getting more poorly, get medical help but if not, I'd wait until you're 48 hours clear of D&V and still have a rash to go to an appointment. Hope you get well soon SmileThanks

Well you boggle my mind. I'm unwell. Where else am I supposed to go?

You don't have to be rude, I was trying to help you Sad
D&V is contagious and the GP wouldn't be able to do anything for it and it's likely your rash is all part of it. I just got the information from the NHS website. Get well soon.

Just phone and ask for a telephone appointment. The triage doctor/nurse can decide whether it is appropriate for you to be seen at the surgery. FWIW they won’t want you to come in with D&V. They’ll likely say ‘it sounds like a virus stay hydrated and call if it gets worse’.

I’ve had allergic rashes last weeks so could be related or not but it’s worth talking to someone.

LEMtheoriginal · 04/12/2018 23:21

Wow - that escalated quickly. Grin

I'd definitely see a dr if its not gone in morning

Zulor · 04/12/2018 23:21

Well, I am GOING TO THE GP tomorrow. I wash myself. I'm not contagious walking around. FFS. Such crap. Then you've everyone saying, of course you should go into work coughing all over everyone. The madness on here sometimes.

Maybe it's your aggression that's bringing you out in spots!

NotFeelingGood · 04/12/2018 23:23

I agree with the phone appointment. Or have you called 111?

Don't be rude to @youboggle. She asked for help and she offered suggestions

KonaMum · 04/12/2018 23:24

Diarrhoea and vomiting is incredibly contagious regardless of your bathing credentials 🙄

Zulor · 04/12/2018 23:24

Ye, it must be the aggression. Perhaps I'll seek counselling, when I'm 48 hours dead.

@NotFeelingGood thank you Smile

LEMtheoriginal · 04/12/2018 23:25

I think drs must develop a cast iron immunity. I asked a nurse practitioner once if he got sick lots abd he said him and hus wife were both medics and if they were off work for a significant period they would catch everything when they returned. Then it would settle down.

Zulor · 04/12/2018 23:26

It's not cholera. For goodness sake. I have a strange concoction of symptoms for which I need to see a doctor.

KonaMum · 04/12/2018 23:28

And if you speak to them ON THE PHONE they will decide where is most appropriate for you to be seen. If you are dying as you seem to think you could be, it’s really best that you aren’t spreading your disease around.

Pebblespony · 04/12/2018 23:29

For which you need to consult a doctor. Which can be done initially over the phone.

Zulor · 04/12/2018 23:32

No, that's not how it works at my practice. If I want to talk to a doctor, I have to wait until surgery ends. So I'll be another day. Because if you want to make an appointment with the doctor you need to ring at 8am. I've had this rash since Sunday, never had anything like it in my life, and I don't like it.

The advice if you have norovirus is nit to visit GP. However DR Google says norovirus isnt associated with a rash.

Honestly, go to the dr. If the rash is non blanching go to A&E
