How did you decide?

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good resources to help make an informed decision about whether to vaccinate your child?

Interested to hear from parents who haven't, and how they made that decision....

I didn’t consider vaccinations, just took ds along to appointment when the letter came. Didn’t give it a second thought.
I’m thanking my lucky starts now as his immune system is comprimised and any illness he gets will likely keep him off school for weeks, maybe send him to hospital and generally make him much worse.
I’m on high alert for handwashing, coughs and sneezes, not having to worry about measles and meningitis is a big relief.

There is no decision to make.

Scientific and medical professional opinion, versus a bunch of nutjobs on the internet.

I'm not sure how it's a question? For us it never ever was. Would never not vaccinate.

What a daft thing to say. There is so much hysteria thrown around by anti-vaxers. You don’t think they can get into a new Mum’s head? A new mum who just wants to do best for her child?

Good for you that it was never a question for you, but I don’t think we need to be quite so disparaging to an op who simply asked a question.

I want my children to be alive and I want diseases we have wiped out to stay wiped out...I made these decisions by not “researching” and trusting professionals aka scientist and doctors..

So, something from the other side. My personal reasons for NOT vaccinating are because I've read the insert to each individual immunisation given, and I don't like what I read (the ingredients, the reactions, the schedule). It's because I've looked into each and every disease/illness you're immunised against to learn that a lot of them are now eradicated or are easily treated if in the right care. Once you dig deeper, you'll learn herd immunity is actually impossible, and that vaccinated or not, you can still get the disease. I've learnt that there is a higher risk of a vaccine reaction than there is catching the illness itself. It's because building a strong immune system in your child using the right vitamins, by breastfeeding and being mindful what you put in YOUR body while pregnant and breastfeeding is more effective. It's because we have good sanitation and a lot of illness's are caused by poor sanitation. It's because they haven't been safety tested in over 30 years. It's because if any of those metals injected in your babies body bypasses the blood brain barrier they could be severely brain damaged, if not worse. I could go on.
Two questions- would you put your child in a car seat that hasn't been safety tested in over 30 years? If not, why are you injecting all kinds of nasties into their bodies?
Also, if you had 1000 cupcakes, and 1 contained a reaction such as seizures or even 'SIDS', would you let them eat a cupcake? I'd assume not.

I also have relayed all of my findings to our healthcare provider, and have spoken to several professionals who agree with what we have found, and have made no effort to dispute the information, that also says a lot to me.

Look at the inserts, speak to people who have been suffered reactions first hand, and truly weigh up your options.

Hope that helps a little with the other side.

I will not be responding to any disputes, I'm just giving the person asking my side, just like everyone else.

Your just an idiot and I hope your foolish decision means your children or any children around yours don't end up seriously ill!

^This. Sensible people don’t question vaccinations, they just get on with it.

ASNT yes it says they can’t be arsed to argue with stupid

Anasnake · 17/11/2018 08:20

What dangerous, ignorant nonsense ASNT

ForgivenessIsDivine · 17/11/2018 08:37

OP had decided to vaccinate. .. she just wanted to heat what everyone else thought. .

TeeBee · 17/11/2018 08:56

I had my children not long after Andrew Wakefield published his papers. Luckily, I was working with some of the top virologists in the world at the time, so I asked their opinion. There response was 'of course you should bloody vaccinate!'

JaffaBiscuitNotCake · 21/11/2018 15:16

No harm in questioning anything at all in life. Better to question everything and come to your own conclusions than just blindly follow.

I'm sure most people who question do decide to vaccinate their children but I find the attitude towards vaccination on this forum really odd. It's like a race to see who can do the quickest put down of anyone daring to ask a question.

FadedRed · 21/11/2018 15:35

Asnt I’ve read lots of good advice on MN and also a lot of unmitigated garbage. Yours takes the biscuit for the latter.
I’m with DartmoorDoughnut on why you friends have not bothered to argue with you.

Flippinflipflaps · 26/11/2018 20:58

Want your ignorance chills me to the bone, do you really believe what you have written, holy crap.

As for your analogies, a 30year old car seat would be better than no car seat, and NTW vaccines are being continually assessed and tested.

If 1 in 1000 cupcakes could cause seizures but not eating a cupcake could kill or cause life changing illness, I would eat the cupcake.

Flippinflipflaps · 26/11/2018 20:59

Asnt, not want, blinkin auto correct
