DS (5) started with a couple of spots on Thursday, and it's now Sunday and more are still erupting all over him. How long does it take for them all to come out, and how long does the itchiness last? We are doing the Piriton/eurax/calamine cream/ bicarb/porridge baths but the itching is upsetting him.....at least it's one down, two to go, the others will be next

oh my dear, I really do feel for you as I can't bear the thought of going through it all again once, let alone twice.
Fingers crossed for you that if they do get it, they get it very mildly. Have you stocked up on muslins and porridge oats etc? I have some spare muslins if you need any, I dont really use them any more.

Aw thanks, that's really kind, but i still have loads from when they were tiny, thankfully it's the one thing i never put away! Couldnt bring myself to do it, and they have come in soooo handy! DD has been up and down all night, no evidence yet of spots but sneezing and spluttering, and littles manky decided 4 o'clock was wakey time so i am hoping the outbreak does not start today as i will have no reserves of cheerfulness left!! Eldest manky is back at school today.

any sign of any spots on the younger Mankies yet then?

mankyscotslass · 13/06/2007 17:21

Hi Mckenzie! No, but we have had the measles reaction rash from her MMR...also the temp and bad mood that went with it....still no sign of the pox on the 2 youngest mankies!
And eldest Manky is still scabby on his face and has school photos on Thursday ....sigh
How is your dd?

so fingers crossed your little ones have escaped it then huh?
DD's spots have healed nicely. It's only now by looking at her torso that you can see she has just had chicken pox, her face is quite clear.

mckenzie · 13/06/2007 18:12

sorry, hit 'post' too soon.
Hope your DD is over the MMR reaction soon.

mankyscotslass · 13/06/2007 19:32

me too.....I will take their incubation period as 21 days from the last day i think spotty manky was contagious, so i still have another 2 weeks to wait......and i dont do waiting
Glad to heat you dd is doing so well!

Another one into her 3rd week of chicken pox!

DD1 got it just over 2 weeks ago, very mildly and all scabbed and pretty much gone.

DD2 erupted on Thursday - looks 10x worse than AllieB's DD, and she is only 19 months.

Ive had a complete nightmare with DD2, she was up for hours last night, despite piriton/calamine/calpol. Have jsut stuck her in the bath with porridge oats, and we are now calamining her again.

I so wish DD1 had got it bad, and DD2 mildly, at least DD1 can talk to voice her discomfort!

mankyscotslass · 17/06/2007 16:14

Oh no...poor dd! Well little manky has it now too. So far he dosent seem so bothered, had them both in baths this afternoon and got some more calamine cream. DD is itchy, her face is a bit swollen so I am not lookng forward to tonight. And I will have to do the school run with them in the mornnig...DH would have done it and gone in late, but he has a training course on all week and can't be late. I will just have to stay as far away from people as possible and hope its cool enough to leave the rain cover over them in the double buggy.TBh, most of the kids in his class have had it, but still..And I need to see the teacher as well. Here's hoping we both have a peaceful night!
