Can someone help me understand this blood results print out please

So I've had lots of ongoing issues with various things and have had a full blood count come back as everything is normal.

This is the print out I got back from the Gp. I do not understand a word but after reading lots of threads on here about how the uk is bad for giving results back as 'normal' when in fact they are not has encouraged me to put these up so someone may be able to show me that I am at the low end of something.

For example, I don't know if vitamin d is on there or b12 but I've been told my vit d is 50 and having read several threads on here about vitamin d, I have learnt that this is in fact low and not normal.

I'll attach them anyway and if anyone has any knowledge about this please advise.

Those bloods all look fine to me. They're all within normal parameters (I appreciate that's probably not particularly helpful if your unwell)

hatenighttime · 05/07/2018 23:01

Betta what has it actually tested for ? I don't understand that for a start !

Your nhs number can be seen on the photo - I would delete ASAP

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 05/07/2018 23:06

I would say this is a general healthcheck?

Checking for diabetes indicators, kidney function, levels of certain chemicals and blood count/volume.

Duckyneedsaclean · 05/07/2018 23:06

Your haemoglobin is on the low end, you'd probably feel better with some iron supplements.

DuchyDuke · 05/07/2018 23:07

You won’t be treated for Vitamin D deficiency unless your levels indicate rickets / osteomalacia (I was at that level with a reading of 1). If you are personally concerned then go and get some vitamin D tablets from Boots.

hatenighttime · 05/07/2018 23:09

Rickets? Jesus . 1 Shock

I'm trying to work out if it's checked my folate, ferritin and b12.

What about things like calcium and magnesium? Are they not checked ? Or is that a really stupid question ?

OP posts:
NotARegularPenguin · 05/07/2018 23:11

Its a full blood count and thyroid function. So you’re not anemic and your thyroid is ok.

I don’t see either vit d or B12 on there. So you could ask for those to be tested. If your vit d has been low before then taking a supplement would be good. 50 is considered low, I think new recommendations is to try and be above 75-80?

Iwannasnack · 05/07/2018 23:13

The photo shows your nhs number and your GP’s name.
Yes the results were all normal.
No on that sheet there are no results for vitamin D,B12, calcium or magnesium.
I think most of this could be figured out by reading the sheet?!

NotARegularPenguin · 05/07/2018 23:15

www.vitamindcouncil.org/i-tested-my-vitamin-d-level-what-do-my-results-mean/

Actually vit d council say 50 is ok.

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 05/07/2018 23:18

I also second your haemoglobin is a little low but this may leave you feeling a bit drained, not seriously ill.

I think bellow 50 VD is low 50-70 is lower end of OK but 80-90 is ideal?

hatenighttime · 05/07/2018 23:53

Thanks for all replies x

I was reading on various vitamin d threads how a well educated poster called Bettertobehealthy was explaining how a reading of 50 is definitely not good, even though doctors say it's within normal range.

I was wondering if my other readings were similarly misinterpreted in this case hence the post.

OP you haven't acknowledged that your NHS number and GP name are on there.
Falling on deaf ears apparently

LEMtheoriginal · 06/07/2018 00:00

Op i say this kindly - do you suffer with anxiety? Those blood results are normal Flowers

LEMtheoriginal · 06/07/2018 00:02

You also must remember that the "normal " values are a range. It us possible to fall outside of the levels and that would still be normal for you.

If your gp had any concerns they would address them.

hatenighttime · 06/07/2018 00:15

Sorry iman, I just got so caught up in the worry. I have reported to have it removed rest assured. Thank you x

LEM yes I do actually. Is it that obvious !

I know where you're coming from but I'm investigating as I'm having aches and pains that I can't explain. and going a bit mad googling .. I'm honestly ok though. I'm not massively over anxious or anything. I'm just trying to find a cause for the aches and pains.

hatenighttime · 06/07/2018 00:18

I'm waiting to get some CBT @LEMtheoriginal .

Just the aches and pains are driving me abit mad at times. It's health anxiety so yknow.

bettertobehealthy is certainly very knowledgable about vit d. I’ve read a lot of her posts. Dd had vit d levels of 25.

I don’t think that doctors have been “misinterpreting” vit d results.....it’s just that internationally vit d is poorly misunderstood. So they are interpreting results correctly against the standards they’re told is correct......but those standards may want tweaking.

Talk to your gp about trying to get your levels up a bit, no harm in trying to get them up to 70-80. Also when was your vit d test? Because your results will always be higher towards the end of summer, lower to the end of winter. I take 1000 of vit d a day in winter.

LEMtheoriginal · 06/07/2018 07:51

Very obvious to me because i have it too! I also have medical knowledge so i overthink everything.

Anxiety can manifest itself physically too and can cause quite severe physical symptoms.

Take your blood results as a good thing and maybe invest some time in self care. Yes you could argue that you are slightly anaemic but if it was significant your dr would have siggested supplements and they certainly don't feel its causing your problems. Some vitamin supplements cant hurt but dont overdo it - oversuplementation of vitamins can be as much of a problem as a deficit.

It doesnt look like your vitamin levels were tested anyway.

What is the plan now?

hatenighttime · 06/07/2018 10:37

@LEMtheoriginal oh I see! Smile thanks for your post. My Gp did say anxiety can manifest as physical symptoms so we're giving it a couple of weeks as there's a chance I'm also having some codeine withdrawal symptoms .. I've also come off propanalol so I guess my body could be readjusting to everything. I have an appointment with her in ten days time to see where I'm at. She did give me a prescription for citolapram , a low dose. But we agreed that I would see how I get on for a week without it and then take it from there. So far I don't feel like I've needed it.

In terms of the plan .. I'm trying to keep myself busy and socialised as possible. I've been getting a regular massage and been using things like Epsom salts every evening and having a soak that another poster suggested. That's really helped. I'm also trying to stay away from google as much as possible not always successfully .. what do you do that helps you lem?

hatenighttime · 06/07/2018 10:39

@NotARegularPenguin she's brilliant isn't she. My levels were tested about a week ago so I guess they are quite low for the time of the year. I am taking some vit d supplements.

My vitamin d level is 23 and my GP says it totally normal!!

hatenighttime · 06/07/2018 10:46

Dharma Shock they are absolutely definitely not normal! Search for the vitamin d threads on here, you will learn loads
