What on earth could this be? (Health related)

So I had an 'odd' feeling in my stomach/lower abdominal area from Monday last week, which gradually turned to pain.

Saw my GP Friday who diagnosed IBS. Come Saturday night the pain was constant and excruciating. Phoned NHS 111, saw ooh doc who had a feel, tested wee, nothing untoward. Told to see gp on Monday ask to be referred for a scan for potential cysts on ovaries?

Come Sunday the pain was worse, I wasn't able to eat or drink, attended a&e and was put on a drip for fluids. Bloods done and wee rechecked, all fine. Dr there said maybe a small kidney stone (as nothing detected in urine, but still see GP Monday and ask for scan)

Saw GP Monday, referred for urgent scan (she said around 2 weeks wait time), asked her what she thinks it could be and she rhymed off a list of things like cysts, colitis etc.

Anyway, the pin is still there. Sometimes it's lower abdominal, sometimes right flank, sometimes left, sometimes both. Or sometimes front and back. Seems to get worse around 4pmish every day, so much so that I'm spending every night in bed with a hot water bottle on front and back. Which is nice in this weather 😫

Anyway, has anyone had anything similar? I'm a very very anxious person when it comes to health anyway so allsorts is whizzing through my mind, and I'm panicking how I'm going to cope with the pain and anxiety for much longer, I have an 8 month old and a 4 year old that I'm really really struggling with and I feel like the crappiest mum on the planet, but I'm also terrified that my time with them is limited and that I'm going to die from whatever this is!

GERD? I had this. The pain was terrible.

Ohb0llocks · 27/06/2018 07:01

Would that not be a heartburn type pain?

Forgot to say gp also gave omazeprole (sp?) and an anti emetic

Not for me it wasn't. I never had heartburn. Just a terrible pain, mostly in my upper right side but sometimes in the left and sometimes both. It was so bad that I travelled 6,000 miles to see a specialist as I thought it was something serious. I couldn't believe it when he said it was a minor thing and gave me a prescription and sent me away. He said the tablets would basically stop it straight away. I did not believe him. However, the following morning I woke up and the pain had gone, never to return.

I had an ovarian cyst that presented very much like this. Eventually the pain went but would come back every month. When I eventually had it removed it had twisted around on its stalk and that’s what was causing the pain.

Nobody took the pain very seriously I must say, no painkillers made any difference and my life was pretty much on hold for almost a year. At least you’re being fast tracked for a scan Flowers

Mrschainsawuk · 27/06/2018 12:40

Gallstones

Ohb0llocks · 27/06/2018 13:39

How are all these treated?

OP posts:
Mrschainsawuk · 27/06/2018 13:56

Gallbladder removed

SinkGirl · 27/06/2018 14:05

Where exactly is the Pain? If it’s upper abdomen, sort of between your breasts and slightly to the right, with pain radiating from there, it’s most likely gallstones. If it’s very low abdomen, it could be an ovarian cyst.

How old are you? Any issues with your periods?

Ohb0llocks · 27/06/2018 14:53

It moves! Sometimes lower abdominal, sometimes flank, sometimes upper right and left abdo. Sometimes all of the above.

Periods normal. Returned about 5 months after DS was born, due on either my 3rd or 4th period on Saturday, and they've been regular, and not really that heavy?

Ohb0llocks · 27/06/2018 14:53

I'm 26

Ok so ovarian cyst pain wasn’t ever upper abdo at all. It was low abdo/hip/flank.But easily sorted with a laparoscopy.

WhoWants2Know · 27/06/2018 14:57

At the risk of being crude, how have your bowels been?

Ohb0llocks · 27/06/2018 15:01

I had the runs on thursday, nothing Friday, solid and dia on Saturday. Very small but normal consistency poo's yesterday and today.

hungryhippie · 27/06/2018 15:08

It sounds like IBS to me, with the way the pain moves around. Especially with your bowels being a bit off too.

Ohb0llocks · 27/06/2018 15:11

So could it be anxiety induced?

OH was working away Tuesday-Friday and I was having panic attacks etc.

Worst thing ever is that the diarrhoea on Thursday nearly happened in my sons new school. I was sat there at his induction sweating and cramping wedged between 2 strangers like 'please don't shit in class one'! God only knows why I didn't excuse myself and go to the loo. I get the fear in new places!

Also, could it just be down to always having a poor diet? Lots of takeaways, not much fruit veg etc.

Or food poisoning?

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 27/06/2018 16:53

Definitely bowel stomach related. Anxiety makes anything bowel related worse. I'm sure when you are calm and happy the pain will subside. If you haven't got a high CRP which shows inflammation then I'm thinking IBS. I have crohns and by 10pm onwards I'm in so much pain I feel like I'm in labour!

Ohb0llocks · 28/06/2018 14:34

Absolutely gutted, pain free yesterday despite being stressed and it was amazing.

It's come back again this afternoon.

I just want to be able to spend time with my children not in my bed with hot water bottles crying

I’ve had similar. Had investigations for all sorts. I’ve been admitted 3 times but it was on and off for a long time before they got to the bottom of it.

Potential diagnosis included: Appendicitis, IBS, crohn’s, coeliac disease, ovarian cyst, ovulation pain, reflux, gall stones, kidney stone stuck in tube. I have had CT scans, ultrasound, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy and finally laparoscopy. Final diagnosis was endometriosis which was treated when they found it and then the pain went.

In your situation I would be back to the GP. You need regular pain relief, meds to try to regulate your bowels. I would ask if they could do some blood tests including coeliac screening. Possibly worth doing a stool sample as some infections can present like this. Short term, I found a wheat bag really helpful to mange the pain and stick on heat patches when I had to go out.

I hope you get an answer and some relief soon.

Definitely lay off the takeaways and stick to clean plain food for now. Don't over do carbs.

Ohb0llocks · 28/06/2018 15:34

I'll phone GP in the morning. They seem to be in the nothing we can do until ultrasound camp which I'm waiting on the referral for.

Pain relief wise, not much I can do. DS2 is only 8 months and breastfed.

Why can they not scan you quicker?
