A big spot appeared on my cheek two weeks ago. I have acne but I never get big ones on my cheek. It has changed to this now. It is squishy and feels like an empty sac but it is very raised.

I went to the chemist today and they said if it doesn't improve in 2 days I need to see my GP. It's redder this evening I'm s7re.

I'm hoping someone else has had a spot change like this to reassure me a little.

I think I'd get that checked out, to be honest.

Wearelocal · 06/06/2018 22:04

U2hastheedge Do you mind me asking if you are alright? I noticed the bruising around your eye before the spot.

Sallystyle · 06/06/2018 22:07

Wearelocal unfortunately that is pigmentation. It's something that happens in the summer and I have no make up on in that to cover it.

Thank you for your concern though Thanks you aren't the first to ask me if I have a black eye. Which is why I am going to beg my derm to laser it when I next see him (a couple of months time).

Honestly I would call the GP in the morning to get it checked out. Not sure if it could be an infection or what, but it looks quite unusual and I would definitely want it to be checked out by a doctor

Sallystyle · 06/06/2018 22:09

Gower do you think I should make an appointment for tomorrow?

I am starting to get quite concerned. I do have health anxiety but I am doing very well with it. It is sometimes hard for me to know when I really need to go quickly and when I don't. I have had a long history of blowing things out of proportion health wise so I have been worried I am doing that now.

That looks like a bite to me not a spot. Especially the way the skin has peeled back from it. Cleg bites go a bit like that on me then turn into a crater.
But much faster than two weeks .

I think i would go see gp as per pharmacist as if that had been a mole i would be very worried iyswim. Flowers

TammySwansonTwo · 06/06/2018 22:10

I have hyper pigmentation too but on my forehead, it’s awful isn’t it? Nothing seems to help and I’m sure it’s hormonal.

DextroDependant · 06/06/2018 22:11

I have suffered with spots forever but I would go and get that looked at for sure. Just to put your mind at ease.

Wearelocal · 06/06/2018 22:11

I'm so sorry U2. I didn't mean to be rude. I have cherry red cheeks and people always say I look sunburnt without make up on. I'm sure your spot is nothing to worry about, perhaps a little infected. Do go and see your GP. Good luck with your dermatologist Smile

Sallystyle · 06/06/2018 22:14

It is horrible Tammy it's just the last thing I needed really.

My skin is terrible due to acne and I only had roaccutane left to try but because of my past MH my derm is very concerned to put me on that. Then I started to get this pigmentation. Now this.. I just want clear skin for once in my life.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I didn't think of it being a bite, but when it first come up it really looked just like a big spot.

I'd think there was a hair trapped in there, or something. I'd break the skin and bathe it with salt water.

But then, I'm very gung ho about these things...

Sallystyle · 06/06/2018 22:17

Oh you weren't rude at all weare I think it is lovely that you asked just incase I needed to talk.

I would get it checked out with the GP too. They never mind if you 'fuss' over odd skin things. If you can't see a GP soon, ask to see practice nurse if that's faster - the nurse will have a pretty good idea if you need to see the GP or not.

Sallystyle · 06/06/2018 22:36

If it was skin cancer wouldn't it take much longer to go like this? If that makes sense.

I am actually quite calm for me. A year ago I would be a mess right now, I would be having huge panic attacks and I would have been straight up the walk in centre crying my eyes out. Of course I am worried but I am managing it well.

I will call the surgery in the morning.

Sorry, what I meant was skin cancer wouldn't be that fast would it? I know it can be quick but not over two weeks?

I had something funny just inside my nostril which would hurt to the touch (made my eyes water) but felt like crusty boogies (sorry) I couldn't pick it out or touch it and it reappeared every few months, I was worried it was skin cancer, went to the docs, got some cream and it went within days. The doctor won't mind you going in about it, and it will certainly put your mind at ease.

Pandoraphile · 06/06/2018 23:02

My partner is a GP and he said it looks like just a really good pustules and nothing to worry about. He also said get it checked by your own gp, just to be safe :)

MrsCD67 · 06/06/2018 23:05

Hope you get reassurance OP. I have absolutely dreadful health anxiety and I know how tough it can be not knowing! Flowers

gower4 · 06/06/2018 23:09

Sorry OP, I didn't mean to alarm you. I don't think I'd rush there tomorrow unless it's particularly convenient. I'd probably go next week, by which point it will probably have gone anyway.

userxx · 06/06/2018 23:12

I think it looks like a bite too. You might have that reactive skin that doesn't take kindly to them. I've got a massive one on the side of my nose from something.

donajimena · 06/06/2018 23:12

I've got something like that on my back. Its part of my lovely folliculitis. You must see a GP. I went last week to have it checked. I've been prescribed a steroid cream.

TheMonkeyMummy · 06/06/2018 23:20

It doesn't look like a bite to me, but it does look like it has something inside if that needs to come out.

I dont know if I would be able to resist popping the head off it!

Maybe get this thread moved to sporners corner?

Sallystyle · 07/06/2018 08:19

Thank you everyone. It is still the same today. I have to pop into work for a few hours this morning now but I will make an appointment tomorrow morning if no improvement over night.

I am tempted to stick a needle in it but that would be bad, right?

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 07/06/2018 08:22

I think it would be fine to gently pull off the top layer and let whatever is in there out. There's been a lot of swelling, which is why it is so dark. Go for it!

OldHag1 · 07/06/2018 08:25

It looks like a thing my daughter had. I thought it was a blood blister. I was wrong. I can’t remember what it was called but she had to have it cut off.
