General health

I went to the GP & said I have Gallstones, IBS and I'm menopausal - she said I can only treat one thing

So I showed her the large(ish) lump in my tummy and said well I think one of them caused this - can you just treat the one you think it is Grin

But instead of one of those three causing it - she suggested it's a 4th possibility a hernia

Which will be fun!

I know I'm being a wuss - sorry

You are not a wuss, you have been worrying about this, you first posted on 30th May. I think you are a very together person, much more so than I would be.

I guess and that doesn't include the time I was worrying before that

Every time I go to see the GP with a new symptom, they say it's connected with something I already have or it's depression so I dread going

I just wanted to counter QueenoftheNights post about a hysterectomy- yes it's a big op but yes it is sometimes done for a fibroid ... but it isn't the end of your life and ovaries are frequently not removed and HRT is excellent if needed for a hysterectomy or not so stop scaremongering- it's not helpful. Hysterectomy as an option is not handed out but where it is it's not helpful to anyone to make it it's virtually the end of the road formyour life which is the time of your post.

Try not to panic, I know it’s hard. Ovarian cysts, endometriosis and other issues can cause raised CA125, not just ovarian cancer and as you say yours is only slightly raised. L

Report
SinkGirl · 26/06/2018 10:12

When my mum had these symptoms and others as a result of ovarian cancer, her ca125 level was in many hundreds (can’t remember exactly, but I think about 10x your level). So try not to think the worst on that basis.

As for the scan, ultrasound is actually quite crap at getting a good look at what’s going on so it’s really good that they are being thorough.

There is definitely something in my uterus tho' - hopefully scar tissue

But I feel the speed of MRI to appt is worrying (I am wondering they saw more at the ultrasound than they said)

But lets be honest - I can worry about just about anything - I'm dead good at it Wink

They wouldn't do the contrast dye in case of an allergic reaction but I have to see my GP and get it tested for as I will need another MRI - so I am seeing the GP this lunchtime

As I was going in I got a phone call which I refused - when I got the voicemail an hour later it was for another appt next week @ 6:40 - I panicked thinking they had referred me to the next stage without telling me what was wrong - turn out it's my Gallstone appt - they have to put an extra clinic on in the evening as my 18 weeks on the wiating list is up on Friday next week

I had so many scans/passes in the MRI - apparently I was breathing too deeply and they asked me to breath more shallowly; I tried but started getting panicky - which of course you would - shallow breathing is a sure fire way to get a panic attack - so I tried to do very slow shallow breathing but it wasn't great

So they just want to take your ovaries out? Sorry to be so confused but I may have missed something here.

Report
KatyMac · 29/06/2018 15:18

Yep not a hysterectomy just my ovaries (not heard of that before - may start a thread on it to find our more?)

Apparently my mass in my uterus is a fibroid mis-shaped by scar tissue?

@KatyMac google 'Oophorectomy' for more information. Or 'Salpingo-oophorectomy' if they're taking your fallopian tubes and ovaries.
