Please tell me it gets easier to get the thing out? I feel like I've just been on a fishing expedition, and mine was the one that very nearly got away

Bananabump - LOL at wine goblet analogy.
I'm 42, and a mother of 3 and was quite rightly sent size A by F&Z, but, not wishing to brag, I think size B would've been OK, its only 3mm smaller.
Perhaps I'm deluding myself.
Anyways, once its in the correct position, it can't be felt at all.

pirategirl · 13/05/2007 00:04

Have to say, i like mine, but as I have sore bits at the entrance to my vagina, it grazed me abit when removing it. I might still use regular tampax at the very end of my period, like the slim ones, gawd, remember them lol!!!

But i am determined to keep on with mine, only had it one month.

I cut the end off too.

pinkspottywellies · 13/05/2007 00:11

Mine arrived this week - I'm quite scared!! Thought it would be.. I don't know.. more delicate and smaller - less like a wine goblet! But when the time comes I'll give it a try.

DragonFaerie · 13/05/2007 00:14

Wilkie, I have just received mine (having spent several months worrying about alot of the things you've mentioned) This is the cheapest I've seen it. (Can't report back yet as haven't had a need to use it yet!)

Chandra · 13/05/2007 00:16

Erm... I'm sorry to say this but I hated mine, to put it in was not a problem at all but removing it.... was just sooooooo painful, for some reason it just got stuck, first time I thought I had done something wrong, next time I had so much problem removing it no matter how much I tried to release the seal that I ended spliting it with a pair of scissors and even when the seal was meant to be broken (as the mooncup) it was still painful to remove.

Maybe there are some of us whose body don't agree with them, so I'm back to my good old tampax.

plummymummy · 13/05/2007 00:19

at the OP

bananabump · 13/05/2007 02:25

Ouch, chandra! I hope you didn't have to split/remove it with scissors while it was inside you? My legs are crossing at the very thought!!

Roskva · 13/05/2007 09:03

Thanks for the advice, ladies, it was easier when I calmly tried bearing down instead of hopping all over the bathroom in mild panic . The last time I explored my fanjo that much, it was the time the string came off a tampon... It was the first time I had used it, and like pinkspottywellies I did go 'gulp' when I first saw it.

Chandra - I hope you didn't put the scissors in you [morbid curiosity emoticon]!

NannyL · 13/05/2007 09:28

i had problems removing mine the very 1st time i ever put it in.... and never since.

Its fine and i got used to it very quickly. Been using it for about a year now!

Chandra · 13/05/2007 10:54

No, I didn't put the scissors in, I was desperate but not that much! mooncup was half way out.

Josie3 · 13/05/2007 11:11

I haven't had any probs using mine from the get-go . I didn't find there was much blood either to be honest - nothing more than removing or inserting a tampon, and i have horrible heavy periods.

NutterlyUts · 13/05/2007 11:15

www.mum.org sells em for £16.99 I think

bananabump · 13/05/2007 13:04

ethical superstore.com has them at £14.99 but without joining up I can't see what the p+p would be, if any.

cece · 13/05/2007 13:10

Bear down and pull on stalk. Then I grip the base of the cup and squeeze it to release the seal. It then comes out fine. Am I the only one who hasn't cut off the stalk?

fuzzywuzzy · 13/05/2007 13:20

I find squeezing the sides at the base and gently easing out does the trick.

I do not get on with tmapons funnily enough but the mooncup is fabulous, however on my heaviest day I need to change it practically every hour which is annoying. I usually take a bottle of water in with me and rinse it out and re-insert have never had any problems inserting or removing and cannot feel it once its in.

I have actually found that my periods are lighter and almost pain free since using the mooncup, has anyone else found this or am I imagining it???

And dh finds it both gross and utterly intriguing, so no he was not on my list of people to consult before making this particular purchase

Roskva · 13/05/2007 13:41

I did it, I did it

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 13/05/2007 15:16

Oh well done Roskva, and sorry to hear about other people who have had problems too

I will probably be selling them again next month - having a break for the minute - ethical superstore charge about £2 p+p for small items and I think bodykind do the best deal apart from me

tid · 13/05/2007 19:43

Have been using mine for the first time, and am concerned having read so many people who haven't had leaks. Mine seems to drip from the stem. Is this normal? I did cut the stem off some, but not all the way. It definitely drips from the stem, though, as I've tested it by filling with water. Have had to wear a pantyliner all the time so far in addition...

FrannyandZooey · 13/05/2007 20:09

You mean that liquid is leaking out through the Mooncup in the stem area? That definitely shouldn't be happening.

It isn't leaking from the tiny holes at the top and just running down the outside, when you fill it with water?

Advice for leakage is here but it sounds as if your Mooncup may be damaged or faulty?

ETsmum · 13/05/2007 20:17

I was a first timer this month and they truly are brill And they DO look MASSIVE at first when you think about where they have to go, but you just kind of fold it up and pop it in.... (mind you when most of us have had far larger things come out, I guess it looks tiny!)

Roskva - in answer to your OP yet, it gest easier. I was getting faily confident with mine by the end of 4/5 days of af and will be taking it on hol in a couple of weeks - loking forward to saving room with the packing Still have a bit of the "ewwww" factor about emptying it in a public loo though.....

tid · 13/05/2007 20:28

F&Z - yes, it's definitely leaking out the bottom of the cup into the stem, where it then continues to drip out. I've checked all the leakage advice and I'm doing everything correctly, which is why I tested it by filling it with water. I logged on to check as I thought maybe I had missed something and there are supposed to be holes in the bottom as well! Does it sound like a faulty one then?

tid · 13/05/2007 21:09

OK, I seem to have been wrong in the end. I can't get it to drip out of the stem again, so something else is wrong. I think I'll just wait until next month and try again. It has been slightly traumatic so far (foxinsocks 'texas chainsaw massacre' comment sums it up pretty well) and I think I'm not in a fit state to be getting on with it! Will try again next month. F&Z - thanks for the advice!

Oh dear I am sorry tid

If you need help troubleshooting next month please ask

oops, on the mooncup website (linked to leakage page earlier) they suggest NOT having it so far up, if it leaks
