jodie1984 · 04/05/2007 09:22

When dd had a temp of 105 the dr saw her within 30 mins but said to go right there if she became worse. This was a couple of monts ago and she's 5.

JodieG1 · 04/05/2007 09:23

I was told to give calpol right away but I already had anyway and it hadn't worked. It turned out to be flu

Scootergrrrl · 04/05/2007 09:23

Strange - it's normally the first advice because wee ones can get temperatures for less serious reasons and if Calpol brings it down it's sometimes ok. WHat about a cold flannel?

jodie1984 · 04/05/2007 09:24

he has just fell asleep on the sofa, and he wont sleep anywhere other than his cot. he must be poorly bless him.

If the surgery are still no use at half past, call NHS Direct.

compo · 04/05/2007 09:26

I don't understadn, who said not to give it?

jodie1984 · 04/05/2007 09:28

the receptionist, but you have got me doubting myself, i was a bit upset when i rang. i might have miss heard him

OP posts:
LilRedWG · 04/05/2007 09:28

In fact call NHS Direct anyway. 0845 46 47.

Please do. I don't want to worry you, but I think he should be seen urgently if he is sleepy.

compo · 04/05/2007 09:29

the receptionist is advising on medication? Never heard that before....

it's not 39.4. trying docs but they busy, typical!

Also get fluids into him anyway possible, ice lollies are good, will help bring temp down as well as keep him hydrated. If refusing fluids ring health service and try using a syringe to administer water in small amounts.

jodie1984 · 04/05/2007 09:34

sorry that sound be it now 39.4

Take him to drs now and wait to be seen, if he get worse then the drs are right there.

JodieG1 · 04/05/2007 09:36

Also when I told receptionist dd's temp she put me on hold and rang through to dr and disturbed them.

Mercy · 04/05/2007 09:37

That is def. too high.

Agree with others, take most of his clothes off etc etc. Do you have any Nurofen for children? I find it more effective than Calpol.

jodie1984 · 04/05/2007 09:38

he said there isnt a doc there til this afternoon, I would have took him asap but its 30mins away and i didnt want to drag him out if it wasnt ness
