Hard to say - depends on the bacteria and on your immune system. If left some UtIs turn into pyelonephritis which is really nasty (I speak from experience and now jags scaring on my kidney)

Doctors, UTIs can turn nasty if left untreated. In the mean time lots of fluids and some of the sachets to treat cystitis to reduce symptoms. Always best to get medical attention. X

Not necessarily. It could lead to Pyelonephritis (reacting up to kidney) and possibly sepsis.
My Dd 20 got this in China and ended up in our. She is fit, well,doesn't drink alcohol and she became hideously ill.
Keep close eye on symptoms and temperature. You may need antibiotics. Don't leave it too late.

You can try natural remedy of bicarbonate of soda dissolved in water.

You could try a spoonful of bicarb in a glass of water 3 times a day. However, if you get no relief from symptoms, you will need to see a doctor.

Wish mine could. I’ve had a chronic uti for over 6 years now.

DD had repeat UTIs as a baby. The doctor was at pains to point out the untreated UTIs can have very serious implications and a UTI should never be ignored.

Please go to a doctor with a sample if you suspect you have a UTI.

Ok, I’ll take a sample to the doctor tomorrow. Whether they’ll test it without an appt is another matter though huh?

I went to the doctors today and the sample that I provided looked quite different to what I’ve been seeing in the toilet pan and sure enough, doctor tests it and says there is no infection.
He gave me a tablet in case it’s thrush instead and I took that this morning but I can’t help thinking that he’s wrong.
Does anyone know how long it should take for it to clear up if it is thrush?

I always thought you were supposed to go to the pharmacist first! Get seen (and normally treated) without waiting for an apointment. That's what i'v always done.

I have had many utis. I can clear it as soon as it starts if I spend a day drinking lots of water and weeing. If it lingers longer than 24 hrs for me I know I will need antibiotics. The times I have left it I have ended up quite systematically unwell.

Doctors definitely before it affects your kidneys, plus they can have dire effect on you overall if ignored. ( not sure if a pharmacist will do any testing, phone in advance to find out )

Try a D-Mannose supplement. I can’t remember the brand I use and I’m not at home to check but it treats thrush and UTIs. You can take it as a preventative too, so no harm done if its unnecessary. I got it in a supplements store.

No, but (from personal experience) they ask you a load of questions, and if the symptoms are classic cystitis they prescribe the relevant meds. If what you described to them sounded more serious or if you've had a lot of utis within a short timeframe then I assume they would send you to the gp anyway. I think pharmacists are under used.

Thanks for the posts. I use our local pharmacist for most things but I was so confident that I had a fairly standard UTI, that I went straight to the doctors to have mynurine tested.
I didnt / don’t have cystitis symptoms (I’m not needing to go any more frequently and it doesn’t burn when I go) but figured that I would uses the cystitis meds as thy might help.

It's sorted me out on numerous occasions when I haven't been able to get the to docs quick enough

I had no idea I was doing anything wrong, when I get uti (maybe twice a year if that) I drink lots of water/cranberry juice and it goes - should take it more seriously clearly!

It’s just a gut feeling Mykingdom; I’ve no idea if it’s possible for the test to be wrong.
I’ve had a Irene infection before and this feels exactly the same. I’m happy to follow his advise though, I’ve taken the thrush tablet and will see what happens.

I think that is irresponsible. How can they know which antibiotic the infection is sensitive to without lab analysis?

Never managed to,shake off a UTImwithout antibiotics... even with those sachets, loads of fluid and cranberry juice
