Disclaimer-I know you can't diagnose me over the internet but just curious.
(Have consulted GP who is looking into this).

  1. FATIGUE- constant and has been for years. If I exert myself am wiped out the following day.
  2. Cold hands-even when I'm in a warm place and cold enough so that I can't type or use my hands properly.
  3. Pain- in my right shoulder, arm, and hand. This started about a year ago, seemed to improve but is now back with a vengeance. I'm taking Gabapentin for this. Left side is pain free.
  4. Feeling of a tight band around my chest. Had this for several weeks and was prescribed Lanzoprazole. Stopped taking them after a while because it went.
  5. POOR MEMORY- struggling to remember what I was going to do, easily distracted and sometimes struggle for the word I want to say.
  6. Feeling of weakness on right side.
  7. Pain in right hip and knee.
These are the main things that are bothering me. I've had endless blood tests for thyroid, iron etc which have all been clear. Family history of fibromyalgia. Thanks for reading if you've got this far. 😊

Rainbows - a brain tumour?? Really? The primary symptoms of a brain tumour are headaches, vision problems and nausea. Op does not mention these. Not helpful!

theicemaidenismelting · 08/02/2018 21:54

If you have elevated calcium you shoukd definitely get checked for Hyperparathyroidism. Ask your gp for another blood test - calcium, parathyroid hormone and vit d all from the same draw. There’s a very good website - Hyperparathyroid uk action 4 change and they akso have a facebook page- lots of info and support.

BlueThesaurusRex · 08/02/2018 21:55

Thoracic outlet syndrome could be the cause of the arm pain- I suffer from this (on both sides) and also have Rheumatoid Arthritis. The chest band pain could be costochondrotis (sp?) and could be related to a connective tissue disorder.

Have you been tested or discussed EDS? (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome?)

olympicsrock · 08/02/2018 21:56

Complex regional pain syndrome.
Your fatigue and poor memory may be side effects if gabapentin.
Pain and immobility would give you cold hands due to poor circulation.

KnickKnack · 08/02/2018 22:02

Hypermobility ticks quite a few of your boxes...have a look here
hypermobility.org

It can often be misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia. Many GPs have little or no information on it. The tiredness at the end of a relatively normal day can be crushing!

ANA is a good primary screen for lupus although can give positive results without meaning a lupus diagnosis - my first test was 1:80 which is positive and indicates some form of autoimmune disease may be present, but my second test was 1: 1260 (I think) which makes lupus more likely and I was positive for various other antibodies found in lupus. Just also to check, are they checking for the thyroid antibody or just TSH?

Just seen your update about the elevated calcium.

Do you know what it was? Anything approaching 2.6 and you need to be investigated or Hyperparathyroidism.

You need to ask for your parathyroid hormone levels to be tested (pTH).

BestIsWest · 09/02/2018 17:01

It is possible to have normocalcaemic Primary Hyperparathyroidism where the calcium is only slightly elevated if at all so definitely worth getting pTH tested.

As PP said there is a brilliant Facebook page with loads of info.

And your GP will tell you it’s rare. It is not.

needtogetfit · 09/02/2018 17:25

I've had the same symptoms as you for 5 years and I've never had an answer. Like you my TSH levels has always been 'normal' but I've always suspected my thyroid. I also had low vit D. You have described my situation!!! But the doctors are trying to tell me it's all in my head and don't want to listen. Drives me mad!

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 03/05/2018 18:40

So after more testing I finally have an answer- fibromyalgia. Came back to update in case this helps anyone else with similar symptoms.

How do you feel about that, Oneday?

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 03/05/2018 18:49

Not sure to be completely honest. I'm glad to finally have an answer but had my fingers crossed for something that could be 'fixed'. Thanks for asking.

Did you get your parathyroid hormone (pTH) tested in the end. Your calcium was a bit high.

Aurea · 03/05/2018 19:41

High calcium levels are another symptom of Lyme disease. Google it.

WeAreGerbil · 03/05/2018 20:03

There was an episode of Doctor in the House with a woman with fibromyalgia, might be worth a watch.

BlueThesaurusRex · 03/05/2018 21:26

Thank you for the update! I hope you find treatment to help you x

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 03/05/2018 22:20

Calcium was retested a month later and the Dr said that the level was ok so this wasn't followed up any further.
