What would you diagnose from these symptoms?

Disclaimer-I know you can't diagnose me over the internet but just curious.
(Have consulted GP who is looking into this).

  1. FATIGUE- constant and has been for years. If I exert myself am wiped out the following day.
  2. Cold hands-even when I'm in a warm place and cold enough so that I can't type or use my hands properly.
  3. Pain- in my right shoulder, arm, and hand. This started about a year ago, seemed to improve but is now back with a vengeance. I'm taking Gabapentin for this. Left side is pain free.
  4. Feeling of a tight band around my chest. Had this for several weeks and was prescribed Lanzoprazole. Stopped taking them after a while because it went.
  5. POOR MEMORY- struggling to remember what I was going to do, easily distracted and sometimes struggle for the word I want to say.
  6. Feeling of weakness on right side.
  7. Pain in right hip and knee.
These are the main things that are bothering me. I've had endless blood tests for thyroid, iron etc which have all been clear. Family history of fibromyalgia. Thanks for reading if you've got this far. 😊

Yes! The puffy fingers would definitely be pointing towards you needing to see a rheumatologist.

Cocolepew · 30/01/2018 10:05

I'm the same as marbles, my major joint pain is all on my right hand side.
I was on gabapentin for nerve pain but eventually came off it, its horrible .

PrizePig · 30/01/2018 10:26

Fibromyalgia

I have all those symtpoms and more and have fibro (amongst other things)

AnnaMagnani · 30/01/2018 10:27

Thinking about it, the reflux would go with some rheumatology diagnoses as well. Were your family members with fibromylagia diagnosed by GPs or rheumatologists?

Anyway, I still think you need to see a rheumatologist.

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 30/01/2018 11:19

AnnaMagnani Thanks for taking the time to reply. My mum was diagnosed by a rheumatologist with Fibromyalgia. I've had some more blood tests taken and I think one is a test for Lupus. Would this show up any signs of mixed connective tissue disorder? I've googled the symptoms and it definitely sounds like me!

B12 and/or Iron deficiency should be investigated

Hogtini · 30/01/2018 11:41

Sorry, just realised you said iron test has been 'clear'. Do you know the exact result? I've been told 'normal' before and it's clearly not. I say B12 because I've had all these symptoms.
With regards to your shoulder, hip and knee pain. I would suggest seeing a private chiropractor if this is an option to you? I suffered thinking it was normal aches and pains (I walk a lot, office job so poor posture) but turns out I had some mechanical issues going on that are now being addressed. Good luck Flowers

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 30/01/2018 19:52

Thanks for the comments, shame I can't tell you what the diagnosis is!

The tight chest sounds similar to what's termed the "MS hug"

Yogagirl123 · 30/01/2018 21:01

Could be many different things OP, pleased to read you have seen your GP for referral/investigation.

Try not to worry in the meantime, getting a diagnosis is half the battle, as at least when you know what you are dealing with you can look into treatments or DMD’s.

I hope your health improves soon.

Unicorn81 · 30/01/2018 21:06

Sorry your feeling like this, i also had thyroid tests and had to fight the gp to give me thyroxine as i was so symptomatic even though within normal levels. Turns out my normal is about 2 and j am now back down to this after many medication changes.

Avree with others that could be some other autoimmune issue.

macaronip1e · 01/02/2018 06:53

As others have said, possibly autoimmune and I would try to get a rheumatology referral. The symptoms of various autoimmune disorders overlap considerably so you really needs a specialist’s input.

allypally999 · 01/02/2018 11:18

I've just discovered "iodine deficiency" which fits me 100% so am taking supplements. Jury still out as to whether they are helping as its only been a few days. Just throwing that into the mix.

Cocolepew · 01/02/2018 19:36

Can you link to what supplement you are taking @allypally999?

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 01/02/2018 20:17

Thanks for the comments. Blood tests for coeliac, vitamin d and ck have come back normal apart from 'maginally elevated adjusted calcium'. Would this shed any light on what it might be?

allypally999 · 01/02/2018 21:10

Its an Asda multi-vitamin for women over 50 ... Boots have something similar. Only thing I could find which included iodine other than kelp tablets which I took before and didn't agree with me.

Cocolepew · 01/02/2018 21:45

Thank you Smile

toothgenie64 · 01/02/2018 23:24

It's shouting B 12 deficiency to me.

picklemepopcorn · 02/02/2018 09:15

Have you tried a chiropractor? Compressed nerves in the neck will make you feel like that.

HerLadySheep · 02/02/2018 09:39

Have you had your hormones levels checked, it could be perimenopause? Certainly the fatigue, joint pain and feeling like a 90 year old ring a bell with me!

These are my symptoms (plus headaches, blurred vision and history of optic neuritis). I'm in the process of being diagnosed with lupus (the blood test is fairly incontrovertible but they need to repeat one of the tests after three months to confirm). The consultant doesn't attribute my general muscular pain and shoulder problem to the lupus but looking at the forums, I think they can go hand in hand. That said, initially what I had was supposed to be MS (because of the eye issues, which you don't have, and the banding/cramping in my chest, which you do)

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 08/02/2018 20:38

t1mum3 Thanks for taking the time to comment. I had a number of blood tests taken recently and the dr has let me know that the tests for most of them are fine (apart from slightly raised calcium level). I think she also asked for a test for Lupus (ANA??) but I haven't heard anything about this yet.

One thing might be to get a printout of your results showing reference ranges eg. Thyroid TSH can be 'normal' in a range of 0.5-6 (it varies between labs). I would be extremely unwell and unable to function on anything above 1.0! So 'primal' would leave be very symptomatic.

epicclusterfuck · 08/02/2018 21:41

'Normal' not primal!
